I AM LITERALLY HOMELESS.
Unprofessional and super-unreliable. All they care about is numbers and interest rates, no customer satisfaction all- they will literally leave you out in the street. Do you wish to become homeless ten days before Christmas??? Go to Dexter's at Richmond! I gave a month notice to the previous place for Dexter's to come and tell me only five days before the move that they found a new tenant. Yes, of course, there is a story behind this, a story full of promises, such as lovely Lauren saying to me, ''Don't worry, do give your month notice to the other place, I guarantee you will be moving in... Even if your second reference is not ready, you could pay a three-month rent in advance''. And when I eventually provided my second reference, after having this lovely lady calling me three times per day, every day, for two+ weeks, I was told that they no longer needed it... So not only do I have no place to stay, but on top of this, this young woman caused me so much anxiety- that no compensation could buy the peace of mind I had before this agency contacted me. But I suppose everything happens for a reason? I am pleased that things worked in such a way so that I don't need to move to a place full of mould, a broken heating and a big water stain on the wall. The most incompetent, rude and malicious people that I've ever encountered.
We had the misfortune of using Dexter's for a recent let. We made a number of requests (formally) as part of our offer which were agreed to but were never provided. Dexter's handled the issue incredibly poorly, accusing us of lying and asserting that any requests on the official offer form were not binding (!?!?!). They refused to engage before I told them I'd complain to the ombudsman and provide recordings of the calls where we agreed everything. At which point they apologised and financially compensated us for their mistakes.
When we moved in, we complained that they'd not bothered to clean the carpet (it was so filthy we couldn't put any bags in that room). They refused to resolve it.
The final straw was when we moved out (having paid for professional cleaning), they stated that the flat was only 'domestically' cleaned and wanted to deduct money from the deposit.
These people are cretins. Following a nuclear apocalypse only cockroaches and former Dexter's estate agents would still be roaming the planet, attempting to charge people for mistakes that they themselves had made. Disgraceful.

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but due to Dexters appalling service I feel it worth sharing with potential new clients - both renters and landlords.
As a new mother, we were hoping Dexters would provide some flexibility in our contract renewal after 18 months in a flat in Richmond. They unequivocally enforced a lengthy fixed term renewal with no regard to our circumstances as new parents. This meant we had to endure viewings of our flat in the immediate run up to me giving birth, then hours after I’d returned from hospital having given birth. Most viewings were rudely requested well within 24 hours notice, despite our contract dictating otherwise. We then had to move to temporary and expensive accommodation with a 3 week old child. Zero consideration was given to our circumstances.
They then tried to deduct £300 from our deposit, which once challenged was reduced to £50 (it should have been £0, but we gave up chasing in the end). They are clearly out to steal whatever they can from innocent tenants.
These are just a couple of examples of a really bad experience with Dexters. My partner and I have rented in London for over 10 years, and have never experienced such shocking service from a letting agent. Sadly they have a monopoly around Kew/Richmond, but landlords I urge you to avoid if you care one bit about your tenants

I have lived in a lot of rental flats - and Dexter's in Richmond is one of the better ones. They are prompt to reply to email and queries. Our home owner does all the repair work themselves which isnt the best, but I can imagine if Dexter's was allowed to actually manage the repairs as well, I would give them 5 stars.

I found both Charlotte and Andrew extremely helpful.
Initially I dealt with Andrew who was very patient with me, I had many questions and needed time to think things over. He put my mind at ease and helped me make, what for me were difficult, decisions.
Charlotte is managing the rental and from our first meeting she was professional and friendly; I feel I can trust her to do a great job however the tenants behave!

Service from Dexters has been fantastic, they were incredibly helpful with all the checks getting the tenancy sorted and as the managing agent for the property have continued to be extremely helpful with any maintenance that has cropped up. I would definitely use them again and recommend to others. In particular, Charlotte Oliver (nee Way) has been very helpful from a property management point of view, as was Cadi Smith with organising the tenancy. i cannot thank them enough.
