I called the Sutton branch to ask them to remove one of their boards which was lying on the ground for months outside of my flat block. They promised to remove "in a couple of days". Two weeks passed. I called again. The lady told me there was no request logged to remove the board, but that she would get it requested for a couple of days' time. Another two weeks have passed, and the board is still there. If they can't follow through on their promise to simply remove a board, heaven knows how they get a house sold or a mortgage sorted! I would never use their services.

We recently sold our house through Barnard Marcus Sutton. This was a difficult sale for many reasons, the staff were all very patient and accommodating. Viewings were carried out when I was not there as requested and I was always kept up to date with the latest developments. When we felt that the house was not moving as it should we agreed the way forward and this resulted in the sale. Once the sale was agreed our sales progressor was tirelessly liaising with all parties to ensure the smooth progression to completion and often knew more than we did about the sale! Barnard Marcus have ensured what could have been a very stressful sale has gone as smoothly as possible for us.

It was not addressed in the inventory check that I had to challenged after my move. It was utterly rubbish job and one could wonder what kind of service you are paying for.
If you are looking for a property in Sutton borough area, please do not choose Barnard Marcus agency. They are young and inexperience and lacking professional attitude towards tenants issues. This branch should go out of business anytime soon! Mark my words, please! Approach with extreme cautious and do not except them to solve further issues once you paid agency fee.

Having moved from Cubitt & West for bad managing of our sale, we moved to a very enthusiastic Barnard Marcus even though my friend had a bad experience with them and advised me against it. I was assured by Scot that the old staff had been replaced and they would do a sterling job in selling our house and they were not like Cubitt & West.
In the beginning as with our previous estate agents they were on the ball even though unlike Cubitt & West, we did not get an email to advise who exactly was viewing our property. Only once we had a viewing from a guy we recognised did we check our emails and find out he had already viewed the property prior to us changing and we immediately advised Elliot.
I asked Elliot to visit with us to see if we needed to do anything to make the house more appealing. He was great and gave solid advice. Vanilla was also very efficient when showing people around. However the main disappointment with BM is that we had to chase to obtain information from them about who had viewed our house. I received an email with a list of all appointments/potential viewings on 26th June from Vanilla but nothing from BM since.
One Thursday in July we had a guy knock on our door saying he had a viewing with Elliot for 5.30pm. We had no knowledge of this and when my husband contacted Elliot he advised there was no appointment. The guy also said he had confirmed with the office that the appointment was going ahead and had changed his other viewing in order to view our house. Not sure if this guy was chancing his arm but since then we have not had any help in establishing who this guy could be. No communication from Barnard Marcus apart from this incident - not even to give us advice on how we could perhaps make the house more appealing (i.e. drop the price etc).
The Estate Agents in Kent where are are looking to move have all said that they contact their customers weekly even to let them know they have not been forgotten about and to offer advice. They were shocked at the shoddy customer service with BM.
We decided after yet again no contact to change estate agents. My husband put together an email but I decided to call first and see if there was any positive outcome from a phone call. I advised Vanilla that we were terminating their services and told her exactly why. She was very apologetic but nothing from anybody else after that so my husband sent the email to terminate with immediate effect. We had only gone into the Agreement for 6 weeks since they were so sure they could sell our house in that time frame but I had my reservations.
As of today we have not had a reply to the email - no phone call to convince us that they could do a better job and perhaps rectify the bad service we have received - NOTHING.
I should have listened to my friend and avoided wasting our time with these people but you live and learn. Recommendations are usually the best thing as is also heeding the advice of somebody who has had a bad experience with said Estate Agent !!
All Barnard Marcus reviews were positive if you are renting or buying a property from them but it seems they are not too fussed about Customer Service when it comes to actually selling your home.

An extremely unorganised agency who does not care about tenants. Quality of check out report does not have anything to do with tenants and they tried playing us however I am aware of my rights. I made an official complaint directly and only after this we managed to get our deposit. However the response I received was not satisfactory as they just blamed other people rather than admitting they are responsible. After the deposit was finally released we received a message from TDS deposit has been reprotected.. Obviously this agency doesn't know how to deal with things and we will never use them again.

What agent could do to change your mind?

Horrible experience with agency!!! We rent a house with them and in the moment we paid deposit they and give the notice to previous landlord they stop care. No answers for a calls< several; times we try to contact them regarding date moving in new property, keys and changing contract >, Left several messages - never called back.. We asked about direct debit and three times we brought our details to agency and still after we noticed the rent wasn't taken at the end we had to bring money and pay in office. Anything they promised hasn't been done, agent who we deal with have an amnesia saying i don't recall, agent we dealt with its all the time busy and away, and the people in the office asking to leave telephone number and will comeback, Obviously never did, saying we are extremely busy. That was the first and last time we ever deal with barnard marcus. And anyone who will ask for opinion will hear about our experien with them. Highly not recommend, unless you are ready for stress in dealing with them.

We had a fantastic experience with Barnard Marcus after having such a terrible experience with Cubitt & west in Sutton.
This was our first time selling and going through a divorce and it is normally a stressful process but I feel the moment Barnard Marcus took the process over it was truly like a weight had been lifted as they made everything straight forward stress free from start to finish! and I then had the time to focus on what was important.
Maxime the lady who valued our home on was fantastic and professional and honest from the start she did what she said and sold my home within weeks, I had communication from all the office even the manger Scot at all times,
Elisha got me a fantastic buyer that paid more than I expected in all honesty! and Michelle was a diamond she help get our sale through and helped me understand all the things the solicitors were telling me when I was confused.
I had the best experience with this genuine honest agent and would recommend then to anyone who is thinking of selling.

Truly awful experience with Barnard Marcus Sutton office. They found a flat in sm2 with the price of £1050.00 per month and asked they if we can reduce to 1000 they said we will look at it, instead of looking to reduce they increase to £1100(reason other people according !! to them offered to them for £1070 so if you want to have that flat you can only have £1100) and I was shocked as we had give to our previous land lord the notice so we couldn't do anything about it but just to accept, otherwise we would loose our deposit, so when we went there to collect the key they didn't have 2 pairs to collect, also the property wasn't cleaned properly and and we had to clean and paint our self so we spent around £150.00 , and even with paper work e had to sign 2 times as thy messed up the contract, they were were completely useless especially Bill and also guy seem to be not organised at all Barnard Marcus were a complete let-down, the property we were rented it was from last August until this august/2013, the reason why I'm writing now this review because didn't know this website, Never Ever with this branch

I mainly dealt with Billy and Zak. They were both very polite, helpful and very respectful when they had viewings in my property. Billy was the one that found me the tenant, he was very efficient and kept me up-to-date with everything. I would recommend Bernard Marcus to others, they are a nice company.
