We listed our home with William H Brown when Strike was taken over by Purple Bricks. After the initial valuation we didn't have any viewing from them, instead all our viewings came from Purple Bricks. When our first sale with Purple Bricks fell through, we advised that we were moving to a different estate agent in Huddersfield. William H Brown requested that we let them have a crack at selling as the only agent, which we agreed to. Over the next 6-8 weeks there were barely any viewings, and I had to call them to chase for updates. Every time I called, they advised us to drop the price. By the time they actually got an offer for us (thanks to multiple price reductions) it was £40k under what they had valued the house at (and what we had bought the property for 1 year prior). They knew we were desperate to sell, and I feel they took advantage of this to get us to accept a very low offer. They often repeated

Very poor experience with the Huddersfield branch. I am having to do a ridiculous amount of the work they are supposed to do, I might as well have gone with purple bricks as the standard is so low that I am having to do everything myself, including the viewings as the estage agents do not show up.... Very poor experience with the Huddersfield branch. I am having to do a ridiculous amount of the work they are supposed to do, I might as well have gone with purple bricks as the standard is so low that I am having to do everything myself, including the viewings as the estage agents do not show up. Very disorganised and seems that there is no communication between the colleagues regarding each customer. Extremely frustrating working with this team. Unhappy to pay for them to not do their job, as promised on the contract.

William H Brown found us a property to rent in 2021. They assured us that there was still work being done on the property at the time, and that the issues we identified were all due to be fixed before we moved in.
Turns out that they don't manage the property and had no control over repairs (or lack thereof). As soon as we were locked in, they abandoned us with a big 'not our problem', despite having lied to us to get us to sign. It was the job of a landlord who lived abroad and had no one looking after the property in the UK, and who would make threats about serving notices to vacate if we asked for anything at all (e.g. working hot water, a functioning oven, etc.). We stayed because we were locked into a contract, but it has been awful.
A year's contract of mould, damp, no central heating, a boiler that stops working when it rains too much (to the point at which two separate engineer companies now refuse to come out to repair it when this occurs because a larger issue needs fixing), and a shower that doesn't have functioning controls later, and we are finally getting ready to leave. The property is back up on the William H Brown website with no inspection or survey and no care for the horrible ordeal we've been through, even though we've told them what it's been like. Apparently, all these issues don't disqualify the house from being on their books and available to let.
In my experience, it seems that William H Brown do not care about tenants' experiences or providing decent housing.

Terrible and most unorganised service I have ever used and would not recommend to anyone. I have had nothing but stress and disappointment since renting with WH Brown: from initially having a rainwater leak into my property on my first day of my moving date, to 3 months down the line while having to live elsewhere until this could be fixed because of Covid. I was told that I would not have to pay the rent until the leak was fixed in writing via email and whilst I was living elsewhere. 4 months in to the contract, once I moved in and the leak was fixed, to now being told that I owe them money, the landlord is denying that he ever said this and they are evicting me because they can’t get it in writing from him, which I had no idea about until 4 months into the contract. Spoke to a solicitor and was told that W H Brown are the landlord’s agent and so they are his voice, so if you have it in writing from them then they would struggle to argue in court. I am being evicted, with threats to take me to court for something which was THEIR FAULT. The most untrustworthy company I have ever come across. Nothing but un needed stress to add to an already stressful year.
