What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have put a lot more effort into selling our house AND they could have been a lot more honest about the real value. They could also have NOT demanded money from my husband, which he could ill afford, when the house was finally sold without their assistance or input.

Very disappointed and angry. We were given what turned out to be a highly inflated valuation that was nowhere near accurate. Irina outlined a sales strategy whereby she would whip up interest in our property, followed by an "open house" that would "start a bidding war". At the open house only one couple turned up and they were not interested. I was living alone in the house with our two dogs and working full time. I had told W H Brown that viewings must be at weekends so that I could take the dogs out to be out of the way. In spite of this, I kept getting calls at work asking for viewings to take place the next day on a working day. Both my ex-husband and I felt let down by W H Brown and felt they did next to nothing to sell our house. In the end, our next door neighbour bought it, having wanted our garden for years. W H Brown had the brass neck to demand the commission, even though they had nothing to do with the sale and my husband paid it to them even though they were not entitled to it. They charged us £300 for a "professional photographer" whose photos were awful. We could have done better ourselves.
I am so angry with W H Brown, especially over the commission they should not have had from my husband, that I am doing my best to make sure they lose more than they gained. When I see a property advertised through more than one agency, if one of the agencies is W H Brown, I go to the other agency. I am telling everyone I know about our experience with W H Brown so others don't have to go through the same.

We have nothing but praise for the proactive approach and support we recieved from Terry Buy at the Halstead Branch. As our sale included the need for a lease extension the process seemed frustrating and daunting at times, but without Terry on our side and keeping us updated and without his suggestions enabling us to overcome some of the obstacles we came up against we would have found the process a lot more stresful.

Terry was punctual at the first and second viewings, gave us professional advice on the purchase and also potential for letting. Terry then introduced me to the letting team at Sudbudy who then arranged for a prospective tenant to view, ahead of completion. Result we have secured a tenant on the day we completed the purchase. Great service from Marie-Kate and the rental team at Sudbury too.

We contacted W H Brown to set up viewing times for 2 properties. They were efficient at setting up the appointments. We decided to purchase the second property which has gone through effortlessly. We used their advice and provisions to set up our mortgage, insurance and solicitor. All parties kept us well informed of developments and procedures through SMS, phone and email. On completion all fell into place and happily we collected the keys well in advance of our expectations. Thank you to everyone, a great team.

We decided to sell our house through William H brown as we know they have nationwide coverage and have had dealings with them in the past. Initially we were dealing with one person who made endless mistakes and his lack of interest was clearly visible. He was politely asked to leave the company :). The next person we dealt with was spot on! he contacted us regularly to update us on there next moves for getting in viewings. He worked out of hours to show people round as we were not able to do so. He updated us with peoples feedback. Most importantly, he always called back when he said he was going too. At the end of the day, all parties have one goal and that is to sell a property, which we did achieve. We felt like our property regardless of monetary value or size, was just as important to them as any other. I think this particular estate agent, has had the wrong people managing it in the past, but it is certainly now changing for the better and once again the whole team seem to be on the ball and ready to work hard for their clients.

Allowed us the opportunity to view details in time to exercise our rights of cooling off - not send late (and that only following phone calls requesting sight of details)

1. Did not get property details to us until cooling off period finished 2. Photos so awful they had to be re done. Written details so bad we had to rewrite them ourselves 4. gave themselves two days from published paperwork to arrange open house - we queried this but were told it was fine - no one turned up. 5. Second open house no better - we checked our security camera - only one attendee who we understand had a budget of £50k less than the asking price. 6. A prospective buyer who visited twice (over 2.5 hours) no feed back 7. Promise of local newspaper coverage for our property to compensate for poor service - nothing happened. 8. Letter of apology sent to us for poor service - no postage , we had to pay £1.54 to find out what letter was awaiting us at post office. WHB then dumped £2 and a compliment slip in the porch and slunk off without even bothering to knock. 9. Sent email giving notice to cancel contract at end of term (both to branch and specified department) - not acknowledged - so copy sent to another branch to acknowledge. 10. Told WHB that we could not do viewings in a particular week as we had a wedding and various guests that week - they rang for an appointment. When reminded about the wedding we were told they knew that as it was in the diary; were told they could do a viewing the following week. However there was a further phone call the next day when they suggested they could let themselves in and show the property themselves. 11. Email sent several days after the end of the contract asking them to remove our property from the website and pick up their sign; no response or acknowledgement so a phone call was made.
