Incompetent and dishonest - avoid at all cost.
I used Fox & Sons (an agent within the Sequence group) to manage a property in Eastbourne. The service they provided was dreadful: they failed to carry out the most basic maintenance tasks such as installing smoke detectors and they didn’t even collect the correct amount of rent. Perhaps the worst thing was that they lost my tenant's deposit by transferring it to the wrong DPS account and then misled me when I questioned them about it. My tenant then took legal action against me because of the lost deposit. It cost me two years of stress and over £10,000 in settlement costs and legal fees. Despite admitting fault, Sequence have refused to fully reimburse me.
Please take my experience as a warning and avoid this firm.

Whilst previously the transactions have gone smoothly for the most part (albeit that on the previous occasion it took 3 months for F&S to transfer deposit funds to our designated deposit scheme), on the most recent occasion there appeared to be some internal confusion with regard to who may execute consent forms and we kept getting conflicting information which led to some frustration. We did eventually get there in the end. They are not the best agency in respect of dealing with the formalities like paperwork, the members of staff whom we dealt with were generally polite and helpful at all times, even when on one occasion our telephone conversation became heated, the employee remained calm and polite.

I would recommend using Fox & Sons if you have patience, the calibre of tenants they provide are excellent, the rate of rent achieved was good, the staff are great and they're generally very helpful.

Shockingly bad service. I would recommend to use any other estate agent apart from them. Try to charge you 2% fees+VAT at first, which a lot of people probably fall for if it's their first time. After viewings, they pretty much always failed to give feedback on them unless I called and wouldn't even text when a viewing was going to occur. They would just give one phone call and go ahead even if it wasn't answered. They would send someone from the office who knew absolutely nothing about the property to do viewings, who also wouldn't be able to answer prospective buyers' questions. This also occurred when we went to view properties being sold by them. Then, when our property finally did get an offer as we only listed with them because the property we were buying was with them also, consequently the other property we were supposed to buy had been bought by someone else. What a coincidence! They then wanted us to still sell our property while they looked for another property for us. What an absolute joke of a business and I will tell everyone I can to avoid them like the plague.
