I used to think that all estate agents were as depicted on tv - grasping and a bit shady (I did grow up in London)... but my experience with Aston and Dmitri and all the staff at Fox's has been a pure pleasure and taken away all my cynicism. I've bought and sold without any compromise and had not a moment's anxiety. I couldn't recommend this office highly enough

I had my property on sale with Fox & Sons Hove branch for no less than 3 years.
Admittedly it probably was a niche house to sell as it had seven bedrooms. However, there were a whole series of problems that didn't help the sale.
Firstly, I think the initial valuation by them was probably too high, but they may have done this so that they secured the business.
Secondly the marketing was very poor. I had to rewrite the initial introduction on the sales document as it was so poor. The photographs taken did not do the house justice as was remarked on by several viewers. Then the best of the photographs that were taken were excluded from the sales document and it took them a long time to retrieve these.
Thirdly, I felt the manager tried to bully me into actions I didn't want to take, and I had at least two flaming rows with him.
However, the thing that I have really given the one star for is what happened when a buyer was finally found. I had really semi taken the property off the market after three years with no sale, but allowed someone to come and see it and they made an offer. However, in three years you can imagine the price of houses had gone up a lot and my asking price hadn't.
I initially accepted the offer but on looking at other houses, my house seemed very under priced. The manager at Fox Sons told me that these were just asking prices and the price i got was good. However, I did not trust this answer and got three more agents to value the house. Two said I should get 200,000 more and the third much more. The manager of Fox & Sons had anticipated this would be the case, as I think he knew how under priced my house was and had already asked the buyers what they could go to.
The buyers could go to another 100,000, which I accepted as I was sick of the whole business after three years.
However, the overall impression I have was that Fox & Sons are not professional and that they really didn't care that the price of my house was way too low as long as they got a sale; i.e. I felt they were not acting in my best interest but theirs.
I wil never use them again and suggest you don't.

Whom ever gave them a 5 star rating is lying, probably Ono of their own, they are the worst agents ever, they ask for garentors huge deposits agency fees but when you move in it's not decorated and there's mice when you move out they leave it to the landlord to sort your deposits out I never received mine back,I do not recommend this car crap agency

We originally bought the flat from Fox & Son's. So when we came to sell, we returned to Fox & Sons. The process was professional and the viewings were limited to open house days. This suited us as we have a small child and it is hard to keep the place tidy. We quickly received an offer at the asking price, which reflects Darren's knowledge of the local market. We particularly appreciated Darren's drive and determination to see things through to sale. I am sure that without his drive and persistence with third parties; it would have taken much longer or the sale would have fallen through. We exchanged recently and exchanged today. I would definitely return to Fox & Sons if I were buying or selling a property in Hove.

I dealt with Fox and Sons in Hove for the purchase of a flat on Hove seafront in late 2021. I had an offer accepted on a property in Hove through Fox & Sons. It was for a 2 bedroom property that I was told had just come back on the market after a previous buyer from Scotland had run in to difficulty with their finances.
While the transaction was progressed quickly I grew increasingly concerned by the seller not providing a copy of the original lease (it was a Share of Freehold) - weirdly they had provided copies of two amendments to the lease, but not the original. I had lined up a mortgage, but did not want to spend good money on surveys until I had seen the lease.
**** and ** seemed fine with me requesting this until after four weeks they told me that (all of a sudden) the seller had had second thoughts. This was conveyed to me by email, at 8pm on a Friday. I was really upset and quite angry that they did not have the good manners to call me and explain the situation.
I decided to head down from London to the property the following morning, and by chance was able to bump into the seller outside the property. We had a calm conversation. The seller said that I really should speak to ****. I asked whether they were pulling out of selling or whether they had found a different buyer. He said the latter.
After this I headed to Fox and Sons and saw **. While she sympathised with my situation, her (and ****'s) feedback was that this was my fault for not progressing with a survey. The idea that this was a bit risky without seeing the original lease made no sense to them. Pity they didn't say this earlier...
Lastly, I asked what the sellers intentions were. ** said they wanted to reflect on the situation and were not minded to go through with any sale. Looking on Rightmove I have now learned that the sale was completed not long after this debacle.
To make matters worse, they knew that I was renting, and given their previous encouragement about how keen the seller was to complete (given the early offer having fallen through) I had handed my notice in on my tenancy.
I strongly suspect that I was gazumped. While Fox and Sons would have made very little financial gain out of this, they certainly could have managed their relationship with me better and helped ensure the original lease was forwarded to move the transaction forward. Their cowardly means of communicating was the final straw.
I would advise all buyers to be cautious when using Fox and Sons in Hove.

The skill is in the way they match properties with buyers, finding out what the buyers actually value in a future flat or house. This led to a swift, acceptable offer with the minimum fuss.
Once the offer had been accepted, their customer service continued to be excellent. They liaised between the buyer and vendor to help ensure everything went smoothly and to everybody's satisfaction.
Well done, Drew and the team. Thank you!

Poor! They persuaded me to cancel my previous contract I'd signed up for with another chain estate agent with all sorts of promises but never delivered. The ad on Rightmove was poor, both the write up and photo's, and the valuation was over the top raising my expectations. I had to rewrite the description my self and request new photos be taken. After 3 months we finally settled on a reasonable offer but the buyer pulled out after 5 weeks which seemed a bit fishy. I ended up going to an independent agent and got a buyer with 5 days.

Fox & Sons gave me the most consistently diabolical service that I have EVER received. From the manipulation techniques used in the value/negotiation (Hangleton), inconsistent and inaccurate marketing of our property (Hangleton), through to the entirely inappropriate "buyers" being shown around (Hangleton & Hove) and finally the extremely unprofessional way in which our complaints were dealt with (Hove).
I would urge anybody NOT to use this company. Our experience could not have been worse.

Offer accepted week later BUT was pretty much bullied & blackmailed into getting a mortgage through them even though we had a few mortgage offers already. Agent told us that there was another offer on the table and the vendor has said " he wants prospective buyer to arrange mortgage with fox & sons"
The property will be sold to whoever arranges their mortgage with them.
We met vendor and later called to have a chat , when asked if that was the case , he replied " no, of course not, I just said I'd like a smooth chain" it made no difference to him where the mortgage comes from. Fox & sons say " the vendor would prefer if we look after and oversee the whole sale to ensure it goes smoothly" to them this means securing a mortgage deal with them , only then do we qualify for their so called buyer incentive ! We get £1000 off purchase price if we take up their mortgage
I asked agent if he could put all this in writing , he said "no" can't do that!
Now, agent has called ( 3/4 weeks after offer been accepted ) saying other people who put offer has now increased their offer. Fed up with lying, bullish behaviour from these young agents.
Nothing but awful! These agents get more ££ selling mortgages than houses
Probably no point going to property ombudsman as its long process & have to put it in writing with agents having 30 days or so to reply. There is no proof so what can be done?
Surely , fox & sons should not be allowed to do such thing and there should be a law against this
Why has nothing been done?? Even worse, I read fox & sons are founder members of the ombudsman !!!! No justice! We may lose the house or end up paying over the odds!
Please, don't use them to sell your property
