I must say I am a little surprised / suspicious of the plethora of 5 star reviews that seem to have cropped up on this site this year for fineholm... particularly when you look back at the pace they were appearing before, it suggests someone is falsely inflating the reviews...
I have rated Fineholm as terrible because they left us to contact environmental health ourselves when our ceiling leaked. Numerous calls to the maintenance manager Mary were placed to no help, infact nothing was done despite being notified of the leak for well over a week. it took for the ceiling to partially collapse with myself in the flat and for us to phone environmental health ourselves and try force an emergency repair notice of entry though on the flat above.
Credit to the fill in maintenance manager though who was lovely by contrast and super helpful when Mary was on holiday who got the ball rolling on repairs. We had to sleep in the livingroom the flooding was so bad for about a month and a half. We had to fight tooth and nail for any kind of compensation. Our workers who were sent in by Fineholm even commented on how much of a problem Mary was to deal with.
Furthermore when moving out we were told the flat was in great condition, yet were deducted for "rust on radiators and sanding down of radiators" over 2 months after we moved out when no mention of this had been said before or indeed billed on the initial summary of what we would get back in our deposit. Infact twice random cleaning and maintenance charges were added to the final summary which seemed nothing short of made up. We are at present disputing this and are incredibly unhappy and seeking legal action as a result as it seems a falsely inflated charge to get extra money out of us. We fully intend to take it to small claims court.
We also had issues of our landlord entering our property and carrying out maintenance work without our permission which is illegal! They were supposed to be in with our good faith as we were given less than 24 hours notice and would be out, we didn't have to do this! , to inspect the maintenance work on the ceiling... they instead snooped around out flat commenting on the living room and painted a bathroom cupboard causing damage to some of our property.
I have never felt more like i was in a rental flat and a number in my life. The final straw was our rent being put up. We left because we felt we were genuinely having the mick taken out of us by all involved and were sick of crying on the phone to unhelpful maintenance managers over how stressful sleeping in the living room was. I have never met such a rude woman as Mary in my life. It got to the stage i dreaded having to phone her as she was so rude, dismissive and i would go out of my way to get my boyfriend to phone because i felt threatened and intimidated by her demeanor.
I have never been so genuinely happy to end a tenancy agreement in my life.
As a side-note I must be fair and say every other member of staff we ever had contact with were kind, courteous and appeared professional, namely Laura and Shelagh, so it's possible we had a bad experience with this one particular member of staff. Even that doesn't excuse the issues we began having re: the charges after we left though, but it only seemed fair I mentioned that not everyone was rude, credit where credit is due.

I was very happy once i stopped using them as they are not interested in giving good service to either the
landlord or the tenant.
