The lease on this property recently ended. JSM were quite unhelpful on numerous occasions during the tenancy. JSM were quite unhelpful on numerous occasions during the tenancy. Requests for landlord maintenance were met with resistance or inaction, check out and return of our Security Deposit turned into a frustrating and drawn out affair and generally they were perceived as unhelpful.
I know they are agent for the landlord, but they promote themselves as offering quality service.....and....expert customer care to both landlords and tenants. Our experience was totally different from this claim and I hope we never have to deal with them again.

I rented a flat for 18 months, and moved out a few weeks ago. Durning the tenancy JSM were actually ok, handling a few maintenance issues efficiently. What agent could do to change your mind?
For a start you could abide by the tenancy contract. Trying to charge cleaning fees for minor things is disgusting, and in breach of contract. Sort your staff out - one member told me check-out was free, another said £100 yet I only paid £60???

I rented a flat for 18 months, and moved out a few weeks ago. Durning the tenancy JSM were actually ok, handling a few maintenance issues efficiently. The only real annoyance were the outrageous fees every six months (around £90). Plus check-in fee, check-out fee, etc...
However, upon checkout they tried to charge me the famous £50 cleaning fee, for various minor cleaning issues (check your contract - they can only withhold money for MAJOR cleaning issues!!). I challenged it, they still insisted I had to pay otherwise they would raise a case through the TDS. As soon as I told them to go through the TDS they immediately backed down and refunded me my £50.
Also, when refunding my deposit they tried to give me a months rent, not a month and a half. Again this was something I had to challenge.
I would also like to point out when I mentioned about being present for the checkout inspection I was practically laughed at, saying how tidy my flat had been and there would be no problem. Stupidly I accepted this, so that was a lesson learned, however someone else on here mentioned they were present and weren't told about dusty skirting boards until after they had left!
I did find a member of staff the be very inconsistent with her attitude, sometimes she was ok, and other times very blunt and snotty!!
I'm afraid JSM is a letting agency I will never ever use again.

They have always been very helpful to me as a tenant and owner, and they have been on the ball with all the issues I have regarding tenancy & property purchase. During the purchase process the lady at JSM went the extra mile to guide me through the conveyance process of buying the property which was really useful because I could keep an eye on progress with the Solicitor. The way that the same person did the valuation was thoroughly researched, honest & fair in my eyes.

I have been a Tenant under JSM Woodbridge Branch for 2 years 4 months. Having lived in this country and renting for 6 years they have proved to me that they are the best ever, I really felt at home during my stay with this Estate Agent. It was just easy for me to communicate and be listened to, and action taken swiftly. All the office staff was so co-operative and understanding. Even when I had to leave due to my own circumstances I still felt so wanted because the reception that I got from the Letting Manager when I gave notice was exceptional. It felt like a welcome more than a goodbye. I would recommend them to anyone looking for accomodation.

I have rented through JSM property for 11 years through the Ipswich and Woodbridge Branches, I have always found the staff polite helpful and well informed. I have had several maintenance issues that have been dealt with quickly and the problem resolved, in many cases I did not have to wait at home for a contractor to turn up they just collected the keys from the office and carried out the works. I have rented through other agents and although there were no huge issues. If I were to move again I would definitely wait till JSM had a Proprty that suited me as I feel they are good at what they do.

Would not recommend this company, not interested in sorting out any problems unless you call and complain constantly(we had rats and had to call environmental health before they did anything about the problem). Also they tried to keep some deposit for damage that was already at the property.... Read Full Review

Also they tried to keep some deposit for damage that was already at the property. Luckily we had kept original inventory so had proof already there but we have still had to go through my deposits. Also, charge ridiculous fees for check in, check out, reference etc etc. There are plenty of cheaper more reputable companies to rent with in area.
