Comments on Agent Fees
I'm not sure. I was just buying a property and they were the estate agents marketing it.
David was a good salesman and he was easy to talk to and work with. His manner was professional and he is clearly someone who enjoys his job. His manager was more difficult to work with, made me feel like he was constantly harrassing me and clearly but the interests of the Seller before mine as the Buyer. After having made the purchase, however, several issues have come up such as missing keys etc. This aspect of things has been unsatisfactory. It is difficult to know whether to blame the Seller or Chancellors for overlooking these things.

I was interested in buying an one bed-room flat in North Oxford price it was advertised for £165k. I was served by this rude and arrogant sales advisor whose named Richard in Summertown branch Chancellors. He was impatient and rude as if he didn't show any interest in selling me such cheap flat. He kept saying the flat had been sold BUT on their website it was always for sale. I felt insulted he was so unhelpful. He wasn't at all pleasant with me on the phone either. I was totally shocked by his rude and not-bothered attitude. I finally bought my flat elsewhere BUT I still wanted to bring this matter up.

Fairly helpful when it came to viewing the property and organizing the let, but since then contacting Chancellors has been, without exception, slow and unhelpful. Most of the time I have had not response at all. Processes which I was informed would take only two weeks in fact took over two months. Don't let from them if you can help it.

My tenancy was a history of mismanagement and muddle. Chancellors repeatedly sent out incorrect documents, failed to renew the tenancy on time, mistakenly pursued me for debt THREE times (and had to provide written apologies and assurances that they would not do so again), lost the spare keys TWICE, and repeatedly failed to do repairs -- they left us with no heating or hot water for a week during the coldest winter for twenty years (although a contractor was available to do the repair immediately); when water leaked into the property, they refused to take action for six months; they let a contractor remove the extractor fan from the kitchen and refused to put it back for more than six months; they took several months to replace a burned-out extractor in the bathroom; they took six weeks to repair a broken window lock, although the property could not be secured during that time. We could only persuade them to replace a fifty-year old divan bed (which proved to be infested) with a decent replacement by agreeing to pay part of the cost ourselves. Although they claimed to manage the property, they referred every decision to the landlady. The landlady often delayed decisions or overruled the agent and sent in her own, distinctly unreliable, repairmen. They also ceased doing regular inspections.The company is not dishonest, but hopelessly dis-organised. They outsource everything and do not even know where the property is, and they appear to have no ability to sort problems out. The landlady has now visited the property, seen its condition, and taken it out of Chancellors' hands.
