If you're a landlord then avoid using Chancellors lettings in Banbury.
I've dealt with more than a few lettings agencies in recent years as both a landlord and a tenant and I've never been so unfortunate to come across a team with such a lack of urgency to get things done, especially from an investment perspective.
They failed to secure a tenant by the reasonable date she requested all because both Jack and Tom took annual leave for a week and didn't bother to let me or the tenant know. Both the tenant and myself were chasing the office for days so we could try get the initial move-in deadline met – the tenant needed to give notice on her current home so it was time-sensitive and Chancellors were aware of this. It took Jack/Tom a staggering two weeks to get a simple move-in date confirmation which then delayed the tenant moving in by two weeks, effectively costing me £500 in the void of rent. There was just no urgency from the team whatsoever and zero explanation as to why things were taking so long to sort out.
Now £500 might not be a lot to some people, but to date I've spent approx £15,000 renovating the property to ensure that it's in great condition to be a proper home for my tenants, so seeing a return as soon as possible was somewhat important to me; other investors will hopefully understand where I'm coming from. Letting a tenant down at the first hurdle is unacceptable.
On top of this, the property was left unlocked during viewings, countless emails were sent and never responded to, callbacks were promised and never delivered, the tenancy agreement was incorrect and details of payments given to the tenant were also incorrect. In the end it just felt like I was on damage control trying to rectify all the various issues.
Also, the marketing they did for the property was very poor – they wrote two lines of copy to try 'sell' my property to potential applicants which was just lazy. Other agencies write great detailed descriptions. Chancellors just don't understand how to market properties effectively.
It's been such an incredibly disappointing experience for both myself and the tenant. I will never use Chancellors services again nor would recommend them to family or friends.
Edit: Since meeting with the tenant in person, it turns out she'd been lied to as well as Chancellors had stated they didn't receive any emails or calls during this period when they were obviously just ignoring the issues. This agency is not fit to deal with any investment property. Use a small, more knowledgable company instead!

The personnel is so rude, zero respect towards customers. Major delays in responses via email. They have a habbit of hanging up the phone mid sentence and won't let the customer talk. I live in South Africa. I emailed Chancellor's to ask if they would like to market my property as the current Company namely Connell's had the property for 3 weeks but didn't respond to my emails!!! I sent them 4 !!!! Richard came back to me within the hour and he told me he would love to help me find a tenant. He went out of his way to get keys from Conells who actually didn't know where the keys were and the 2 agents supposedly arranging people to view were both on leave! Once Richard had found the keys at a branch over an hours drive away he arranged a professional photographer to take pictures. It was on Chancellor's web site for 24 hours (2 viewing later) and I had the amazing news that they had found a tenant. Richard you went above and beyond and you made what seemed like an impossible task appear part of a normal routine for Chancellors and yourself. I really cannot thank you enough for everything you did without hesitation, professional service like this which exceedes ones expectation is hard to find. Shockingly bad!!! I will never recommend or sell those Chancellors again. Wayne did not find out the full position of my buyers, after nearly 8 weeks of being sold and trying to exchange contract Wayne finds out that part of the deposit money is coming from her parents re-mortgage which wasn't complete which cause us a two week delay and nearly lost us our purchase. Every time I spoke to Wayne he said never had any updates and he seemed not interested in helping me more about saying that it wasn't his job now the sale was agreed and Mahnoor was the person I needed to speak to as she was the sales chaser, at one point he even told point blank this is not part of my job even though I have paying him and I should be his customer! The number for the sales chasing team is NEVER answered you just get a pre-recorded message saying to email, which also doesn't get answered for days. If it wasn't for the work of my own mortgage broker who did more chasing than these two combined and Debbie and Alex at Maxwells then we would have missed the deadline and I would have lost my new house. The whole operation is run so so bad and if I hear that someone is thinking of using Chancellors I will be advising them against it and relaying my experience with you

Worst estate agents, period! Total Cowboys! I had to call their head office just to get it on right move as manager arrogant beyond belief. Even classes staff viewing property as a viewing on marketing report! After 2 months still no pic in their window and this is their only advantage over online... Read Full Review

Worst estate agents, period! Total Cowboys! I had to call their head office just to get it on right move as manager arrogant beyond belief. Even classes staff viewing property as a viewing on marketing report! After 2 months still no pic in their window and this is their only advantage over online agent. Now they tell me I have sole agency ruling for god knows how long where they can charge me to sell with someone else. How can they make money if don't sell any property?
