Comments on Agent Fees
I don’t mind paying fees when an agent does some work for it.

We are more than happy with the service we have received with the sale of our house last week. Holly has kept us up-to-date with each stage, as did Iain, incidentally, before he left. Thank you- it is so important that sellers are constantly kept in the loop. Nothing was too much trouble which made life easier as we do not live close by to the property we were selling. Also, they have a great specialist team who nurse the deal carefully through from accepted offer to completion. Honestly impressed. Thank you.

Comments on Agent Fees
Their fee was very competitive but what's the point if they are untrustworthy.

First we bought the property through them and the sale was unnecessarily delayed for no valid reason and blamed the other party continuously.
Communication from Chancellors was very poor and we had to chase them up constantly. During this time we even had to leave our own home after false promises from Chancellors and live with family miles away. This was until the house was ready and deal went through. This was 4 months down the line and we had to fork out an extra 6% on top of the agreed sale price. Completely out of the blue. So the sales person we dealt with in Lightwater was very poor (HOLLY VALENTINE) - we were never allowed to speak to anyone else during the sale either. When we saw her at the branch, we found her to be rude and quick to blame others (namely Ben) when we raised any kind of issue. She did not even consider what we had to say and without any notion of an apology or any remorse.
As for Lettings (CAMBERLEY), they give no notice to a landlord and expect you to drop everything and deal with their requests for signed contracts within a day (so they can secure their fee). We also found out during letting our property that they had not communicated to the tenant and actually blamed us for the lack of communication.
As if this couldn't get worse, our poor tenant was made to sit outside the house waiting because the LIGHWATER OFFICE had misplaced our keys. I should state at this point that my husband and I had travelled all the way from the Netherlands to be there in Lightwater to meet our tenant.
All in all, not impressed at all with Chancellors SALES or LETTINGS and will never be dealing with them again.

We have been trying to arrange viewing for two properties in Bagshot that we were really interested in both showing on Chancellors website as for sale. We called on Monday to arrange a viewing and were promised someone would come back to us. After not hearing anything for two days we called again to be told that messages to arrange viewings were left with vendors however no arrangements were made so far. Called again on Thursday to chase up viewing just to hear that both properties were sold!! How comes the agent was not aware they already had offers on both houses when we first got in touch to arrange viewing?! Funnily enough both properties are still showing on their website as for sale and it makes me wonder why they are blocking potential buyers from viewing and playing games that I don't really understand.

My property was placed with Chancellors to act in the sale, circa June 2011. I sacked them at the end of Feb 2012, and during this time, I had 2 viewings from them. Once I had served notice, magically, all the viewings came pouring in from 'cash buyers' wanting to view the property. When I asked to be present at these last minute viewings, surprisingly, none of the potential purchasers turned up. This was obviously a ploy to fabricate false offers in an attempt to prolong my contract with Chancellors. Needless to say, I was un-impressed. During my 'time' with chancellors, I had asked them on several occasions to liaise with another estate agent, who was handling the letting of said property (it was tenanted), when viewings are required, as we needed to provide notice to the tenant. Chancellors were extremely poor in organising this conversation, and kept blaming the other agent for the lack of communication. The other agent had acted for me for a number of years, for other properties and I had never had any cause for complaint with them, so I was sure the problem was with chancellors. All in all, I found Chancellors to be unprofessional, deceitful, and lazy. Once I moved agent, I had 3 offers within 3 months, and I have now exchanged contracts - 4 months on.
