For me as a tenant I have always found them to be helpful, professional and friendly. Wanted to give Kira a special mention for going above and beyond what one would expect with help and professional advice at the end of my tenancy. Especially considering the landlord had stopped using Austin & Wyatt as the letting agency 2 years prior to the end of the tenancy. Many thanks, highly recommended for quality service in what are challenging times.

Originally seemed a respectable and decent agent to rent from until the end of the tenancy.
Staff do not pick up the phones.
Store manager (amesbury) likes to push blame onto landlord and tenant rather than taking responsibility.
Awful communication.
Takes a long time to have errors rectified.
And finally makes out other people are in the wrong rather than taking blame for being inconsistent and disrespectful.
One of the worst places I’ve ever rented from.
The landlord is amazing and was helpful throughout but I wouldn’t recommend anyone renting from these people as you will have a nightmare moving forward or trying to leave your tenancy.

Countrywide took over a small independent Letting Agent in Amesbury Wilts, and changed its name to "Austin and Wyatt. Within weeks all of the existing knowledgable staff had left. The back office became a call centre in Nottingham. Countrywide's speciality is "add on charges" which they turn into an art form. You will pay for EVERYTHING. Local maintenance contractors were forced to add a hidden percentage to their charges (passed back to Countrywide) or face the sack. Simple routine admin tasks, such as a simple rolling contract renewal are charged to both landlord and tenant. Regular property inspections were cursory in the extreme. Tenant maintenance issues were not followed up. Communication is dire at best, arrogant and patronising at worst. I have been a private landlord of a portfolio of half a dozen residential properties for almost 30 years. ASustin Wyatt/Countrywide are by quite a margin the worst agents i have ever used. I have been lucky enough to have sacked them now from all of my properties and sleep better at night because of it. AVOID AUSTIN AND WYATT AT ALL COSTS.

Zero points. Countrywide is the power behind a number of High Street "names". This review is for AUSTIN WYATT in Amesbury Wilts. Countrywide took over what was a small local letting agent, and that is when the service went into freefall. Countrywide/Austin Wyatt service is characterised by three things, all of which appear in many other reviews below: 1: Rip off fees, charges for everything and anything to both landlord and tenant (often for the same thing), money taken in advance for unspecified things etc etc. The "back office" function i.e. contracts and finance is handled from a remote call centre in Nottingham, so they have no idea of your circumstances. 2. Very poor communication: emails not answered, phone calls not returned. Routine admin not done. Proerty checks cursory at best. 3. Maintenanance contractors forced to add a massive percentage to their bills which is then paid to Countrywide (i.e. I found that the charge for a Gas Safety Check when up by 20% when CW too over - using the same contactor (who told me about the hidden charge CW insidted he add)). I could go on and on. Bottom Line: Check if wnat you think is a local agent is part of the Countrywide Group. If it is AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
