Agents were very quick to sign you up as a tennant and appear helpful and I was given specific reassurances about the quality of property management. I had a few minor issues when I moved into the property, some I resolved myself in frustration at no action being taken and others have still not been addressed several months later. The agent sent me a letter to advise they wanted to do a property check and if I wasn't available at the time they had made the appointment for I would be charged - no choice on appointment. I had to ring up change the appointment and take time off work to do this and if I didn't agree they would use management keys and come in the apartment regardless!!
It is more convenient for me to rent than buy, but you feel powerless as a tennant when maintenance issues require resolution. The staff do not respond to telephone calls or e-mails - customer service is very poor. But I'm convinced all letting agents are the same.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Address tennant issues within a reasonable timescales, and contacty them to advise on progress, don\'t make promises they cannot deliver on.

We paid a lot of money to move into our rented house fee's. A bond rent in advance we thought we would be in the property for a long time years even Charlotte showed us round she was very nice said any concerns to let her know we found we had no oven as the built in oven door was not closing so we contacted Charlotte only to be told we had to phone newcastle we did this to be told sorry we have to contact the land lord it took months for it to be fixed we noticed as the weather got cool the walls on the living room were wet and our clorhes in the built in wardrobe were wet we contacted newcastle same thing have to contact the land lord we did have a specialist call and treat the mold but it has come back and in other places the person we spoke to mostly from bridgefords was newcastle was dion. She always said she would ring the landlord and get back to us but she never rang back we always had to phone to find out what was happening we are now moving out as we have had no shower for three weeks (we don't have a bath)due to a leak the plumber had to hack off tiles to stop the leak then never came back of course we have phoned dion to be told the same.we decided we have had enough we are clean people and think it unfair paying rent for such poor conditions so we found a nice place to rent and being decent we put a months notice in we were then told by Charlotte we could only give notice from the rent due date which ment paying an extra Two weeks rent and of course poll tax and water rates for use we asked if we could leave early due to the state of the property and we couldn't even have a shower to be told no we asked dion to be told she would have to get in touch with the land lord who as we know never answers his phone we feel like we are living in a nightmare, and are struggling to get out we have had to borrow. Money to pay another bond to rent another property but at least we don't have to pay rip off amounts in fees as we are renting privately that's when we finally manager to get out of this silly contract :-(
