Firstly I want to state that this was the Bradford branch and that I'll also be writing a bad report about Dacre's, WH Brown's and Renton's. All Estate Agents are rubbish, they don't send information to prospective buyers, don't accompany viewings, don't relay offers, and just want to bang the price up so that you either can't buy a property and therefore gain a higher commission, they're con artisits. Whitegates in Bradford where just useless and never helped me from the 1st moment I walked in so if you thinking of buying or selling with them think again.

However it would appear that the comments are unsubstantiated non specific rants of a general nature against all Estate Agents. Only a suggestion here, and I could well be wrong, but perhaps realising Estate Agents are human beings generally doing their very best for, in the main appreciative clients, an attitude change might well be in order and serve you well. Jul 26, 2011for the past 12 years I have been renting through many different estate/letting agents, but I have never had any problems with any of them but whitegates branch in Bradford. renting a small 2 bed semi detached house on 55 Salisbury road, frizinghall in bradford. rented the place for 6 months, but as I was ill, most of the 6 months I lived with my parents. when I moved out I cleaned all over the property i returned the house in same condition as before moving in. I did damage 1 bedroom door and that was it. I agreed to pay for the door and the charged me £60. however they have withheld £450 of my originally £650 bond, for no resonable reasons, now 3 1/2 months later after 50 phone calls and 10 emails, they agreed to give me further £50 of my bond. so in total they have taken £400 from me which they can not explain, they are using every posible dirty excuses to withhold/steal your money. plase do not use them as you can not trust them.

I found they had excellent people skills and kept me informed of everything in every stage of the way through both selling and renting and believe me was a challenge for them ha ha!!!! They have found me brilliant tenants and i hope they stay long term as they seem so nice.
Very satisfied with both services both buying and selling, but got no one to annoy now and miss our chats 😊

The only negative item that needs to be shared is about the setting of the initial price and therefore expectations. Ray said that the house was worth £200k and it sold for less than £133k. Even I reduced the initial £200K to £175K. I accept that the market moves but I think we are talking 5%... Read Full Review

The only negative item that needs to be shared is about the setting of the initial price and therefore expectations. Ray said that the house was worth £200k and it sold for less than £133k. Even I reduced the initial £200K to £175K. I accept that the market moves but I think we are talking 5% i.e. £10k not 30% plus. Using new poto's, floor plans and Internet marketing certainly must help the sale and the office is in the main highway. I think it is true that buyers are using the technology more and more and therefore estate agents must do the same. Idea instead of paper sheets in the windows how about digital photo or video presentations???

Rachael regularly contacts me with updates on the progress. She is very friendly and out going and nothing is too much trouble for her. I feel that she cares about my property and I can trust her to try and get the best possible price for it. I was originally with another agent and I got no feedback from them. I felt that they couldn't be bothered speaking to me and everything was too much trouble and all they were interested in was reducing the house to sell.
If you want service with a smile and agents you can trust I would highly recommend Whitegates in Prenton

Tried in vain to purchase property over a 2 week period. There were long delays before I had any response to my offers. A courtesy call would have been nice. I only received a call when a higher offer was conveniently made. When i increased my offer I was lead to believe that it would probably be enough and the fact that they arranged for a mortgage adviser to phone me while I was on holiday only added to this. However I heard nothing further for 3 days when I had to contact the office m myself only to be told they were chasing it up on Monday. They actually did phone Monday only to tell me they had a higher bidder. I increased my offer and informed them I had commenced a mortgage application online. I couldn't really proceed with this without a response to my offer. On Wednesday Rachel phoned to say my offer was still the highest but they wanted proof of a mortgage in principal. This I could have sorted on the Monday if I had been told. I contacted the Bank and managed to get this sorted Thursday and thy agreed to fax it. I contacted Rachel to see if she had received it only to be told they had no fax (even though there online site shows one )and anyway they had had an offer that morning for the full asking price. As I had been chasing this property for 2 weeks I felt I had no option but to match it. As I am a 1st time buyer and had shown my commitment to this property i did expect to be the obvious choice. The other bidder was in a small chain so it to be a no brainier really as more people involved. Rachel in her wisdom decided to give the vendors the choice and said she would let us know today.I had to have my mortgage offer faxed to my Mum at work for her to drop off. Rachel didn't seem to be bothered about this anymore.This morning I waited till 10 but had to phone her in the end only to be told the vendors wanted people in chain to have property as they needed a smaller mortgage! How ridiculous is that. None of their business where the money is coming from and also what right does Rachel have to tell them how much we were borrowing. Definitely a breach of confidence and a data integrity issue. It is quite obvious that Rachel pushed the other offer to the vendors probably because either Whitegates are selling their property or it is someone they know. She probably never even told the vendors that we had a mortgage in principal. I have spoken to lots of people about my trauma today and they all agree something underhand has gone on. I did ask when my first offer was refused what the vendors wanted but was told they didn't know. If I had been told they would only accept the asking price because the property had already been reduced ( which I wasn't aware of at the time) I very probably would have offered it 2 weeks ago. Rachel is extremely lacking in customer care and her and Whitegates have a serious communication problem. Thank you for ruining first attempt at purchasing a house Rachel and Whitegates.

However, due to unfortunate circumstances the process was not all plane sailing, in spite of this Whitegates kept us informed and helped progress things efficiently and liaised with ourselves and our solicitor in a very professional manner.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
