After viewing a property to rent with ELR we were clear with them that we wanted to take the property on multiple occasions. We were told by ELR that they had discussed it with the landlord twice and essentially that it was ours to live in from the agreed date, only to be told later that the landlord had decided in the last 12-24 hours to rent the property to a friend instead. We, in the meantime, had cancelled other viewings and are left with little time to look for alternatives. We were informed via email and when we did call ELR the member of staff was unapologetic and offered no help in rectifying the situation, instead defending the landlord as a 'good' client. We feel have been deliberately misled by both ELR and the landlord. Perhaps most frustratingly, there is a lack of consequences for this kind of malpractice. We have seen that all other reviews of ELR available are also terrible and will resolve to do our research before dealing with a letting agent in future.

Negligent check out of last tennant. No rep went to property before completing check out and returning deposit to tennant. What agent could do to change your mind?
Contacted me with a solution after taking action rather than trying to avoid blame via email.

Negligent check out of last tennant. No rep went to property before completing check out and returning deposit to tennant. Returned from abroad hoping to put the house on the market with them to find inside and outside of house full of last tennants rubbish, including a mouldy saucepan on the hob and house not cleaned. Representative suggested going to property to put rubbish in wheelie bin when it would have filled 3! Back door key also not returned by tennant which will require new lock to be fitted. Unpaid utility bills also unresolved. No follow up from the company to bring to resolution. Very disappointing and upsetting.
