They told us the flat had been "deep cleaned" it was filthy and took one week of our own time and effort to get it into reasonable condition. This company should be ashamed of themselves. "Lazy, unprofessional, liars" would sum them up quite adequately. Do yourself a big favour and avoid them - with this many 1 star reviews they are obviously doing a whole lot wrong and not much right.

I had multiple issues with the shawlands branch of countrywide. 1. When I moved into property they lost my keys and took 1 month to get the secure key sorted. Till that time I had to spend 1 month in my friends house. 2. After moving into the property there where many things which required repair, I prepared a list and send it to them, lots of items in that list are still not repaired after 1.5 years. 3. I have received a letter to vacate the property as landlord wants to move in, they have given me 2.5 months notice which is fair, I found a new property which I can move in but they wouldn't let me and they want me to stay in the property for another 2.5 months even though contractually I should be fine with 4 weeks notice. 4. When you call them they always say that they will ring you back and they will never. never ever. so you have to keep chasing them.

I have had my house on the market for around 7months with countrywide shawlands branch. I can safely say it is one of my worst experiences ever! To start with it took around 10 weeks for them to put an advertising board up outside my home. I did get some viewings through them around 5 I think however the only follow up/ feedback I received was from one of the viewings. Countrywide always rang me after to say they would be chasing up the viewer and come back to me but they never did except for on the one occasion. Around October time I got a call from what I now realise was probably a marketing department about a hugely successful campaign they were doing which would cost me around £250 but would not be payable until I sold my property, more fool me but in my desperation to sell It sounded so successful I agreed to it, it didn't achieve me a single viewing extra and I think the extent of it was a half page ad in The Herald which has a smaller market than Rightmove on which my property is already listed. The last viewing I had (for which I rearranged my whole working week to accommodate turned out that the viewers didn't even know if they could get a mortgage! I then decided that I needed to remortgage to pay pay off my ex as the property was not selling and so progressed that route. On the 18th Feb I spoke with the negotiator who asked me if I was taking my house off the market as there had been no more interest except a strange enquiry a couple of weeks ago. The strange enquiry turned out to be a lady who had not sold her property yet but was very interested in mine. I told countrywide to get in touch with her immediately and find out more and ask if she would like to view that evening. When the viewer came around I was horrified to hear she had been in touch with countrywide two weeks ago asking what she could do to get my house and offering the full asking price. Unfortunately my remortgage had gone too far to stop by this point (had they contacted me upon the enquiry coming in it would not have). This lady was even looking at renting hers out to buy mine and was so serious she had apparently asked if she could pay a deposit to hold it until she sold. As if the loss of a potential sale wasn't enough I now owe country wide a further £490.80 as they want a further £150 + vat as I was on the market over 26 weeks and £250.80 for the sham extra marketing (which by the way is incorrect as 150 + Vat and 250.80 makes £430.80 by my maths) This is on top of £838.20 paid up front for marketing costs and home report, that's over £1300 for not selling my house and doing a rubbish job of allegedly trying. Oh and If anyone thinks I'm just internet trolling, I did try to complain to the manager of the branch and find out what had happened with the lady they ignored in the first instance, having told her how unhappy I was and that I was going to complain I was told well there is no use us having this pointless conversation if you are just going to give us a bad review anyway charming, what management training that is! I would not touch these people with a barge pole! the manager also told me that the lady only registered interest on the 18th and came around on the 18th, that's incorrect she was only registered on the 18th as that is the day I was told about her and insisted countrywide contact her.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Don\'t sell something or raise expectations when you are not able to fulfill the service.
I understand that you need to cover costs if people prematurely take properties off the market, but why hit people with additional charges when you have been unable to provide the service discussed when the contract was signed?
Unable to fulfill expectations and hit us with additional charges.
Took on Countrywide services to sell out flat in Glasgow, South Side and was charged up front for the sale. Had to chase for a sign-board several times and then spent weeks without any viewers - even after the sales pitch stated that they have a "huge list of prospective buyers" and stated that they expected to sell the property within 10 weeks.
Had to constantly chase then for the sale board, updates as to why no-one had visited and kept getting fobbed of until the "Sales Director" got involved - all of a sudden, we started to get people over the threshold but no offers.
Gave up and tried their letting team - seemed better and found someone fairly quickly but had to chase constantly for updates. Only actually found out that someone wanted to let the property when the "to let" sign changed to "let by".
After their disastrous attempt to sell the property, we were hit with a "Final Marketing Fee"!
In response to our query about this fee, we just received (what I felt was) a rather cheeky email stating we are "happy with the services of Countrywide Estate Agents" and that they would not wave the fee but that they would take it off future marketing of the property!
On a plus point, the mortgage advise was good.
