Do not rent from them. Will not take any responsibility for any of their errors. They wrote the wrong number on the boiler and I’m supposed to pay for their mistake. Carpet smells of urine. Window is broken and smashed me in the face. All estate agents are disgusting but this is on... Read Full Review

DO NOT LET FROM ABBOTTS / COUNTRYWIDE They offer zero support to tenants. Resolve no complaints whatsoever and only ever represent the interests of the Landlords. I had a problem mould and they completely refused to resolve it and said it was up to me to clear it up. Also... Read Full Review

DO NOT LET FROM ABBOTTS / COUNTRYWIDE
They offer zero support to tenants. Resolve no complaints whatsoever and only ever represent the interests of the Landlords.
I had a problem mould and they completely refused to resolve it and said it was up to me to clear it up.
Also don’t sign the contract until you have matched everything in the property condition report to the actual condition of the property, because they straight lie on their reports.
AWEFUL, STAY AWAY.

They are totally irresponsible . I have been given a house for rent. It was fully dusty house. Kitchen tap is not working washingmashine is not working. But for one week they did do nothing. I feel they have good combination with land lords to cheat... Read Full Review

We have now used Abbotts Basildon twice now, first to find a flat to rent for our son and again when we required new tenants for a house we rent out. On both occasions they were brilliant! For various reasons both times we needed them to move fast but efficiently and they didn't hesitate ! Absolutely superb agents for lettings market (no experience of buying from them)and can't praise them enough!!

We went with Abbotts as they seemed the premier estate agency for Basildon.
We cannot fault their admin team, in fact I thought they were very on the ball and pro-active.
The actual estate agent himself was a totally different story. If you've heard of bad estate agents then this one gives even them a bad name.
I am ashamed to admit it but we were totally sold in our contract meeting. We verbally agreed commission and just 'quickly' signed up on his tablet. We didn't get a good chance to read through the small print, there were pages and pages of it of course.
It took weeks to get the contract sent to us in an email only for us to discover a totally different and much higher rate had been applied and by then our 2 week cooling off period had expired. Very clever.
As much as we discussed and emailed trying to get this amended it never happened. All we got were platitudes like 'oh we'll get this sorted out' or 'i need the office manager to do this' or 'head office will need to do it'.
He has very carefully not left an email trail that we can use.
We have now dropped them of course. Please read ALL of the small print no matter how long and boring it is.

£500 for \"inconvenience\" - of travelling to my property (5 minutes\' drive) and putting the details on the internet, which I asked them not to do anyway. Yes, big rip-off.

The only reason I've given one star is because there isn't a lower grade. Yesterday an agent from Abbotts of Basildon, Essex came round to give me a valuation to selling at some point within the next few months. The guy who came round spun me a yarn about "signing now will save you having to do it when you're ready to sell" and that he had to take a photo of the property "to prove I've been here". Yeah, right. Today I find my house on the internet. To add insult to injury, the property had been priced at the lowest end of his quote. OK, I suppose I should have taken an hour to read through all the small print but wasn't permitted the luxury. Today I phoned the agency and was informed that I had signed a twelve-week sole agency contract - if I wanted out of it I'd have to pay £500. Fortunately, time is on my side and I'm in no hurry to sell so I'll wait until the twelve weeks is up then use a professional agency instead of these sharks. They're the sort that give estate agents a bad name.
