I found the mortgage adviser became verbally aggressive to me when I tried to cancel an appointment with regards to renewing my mortgage deal. She treated me with contempt by saying "You don't know quite how this works, and it's not easier to go straight to the bank to sort it all out." She failed to respect my decision to go back to the Halifax and when I last saw her she snorted at my expenditures of not going on yearly holidays and paying off a car on monthly instalments. I would avoid them. Speaking to a high street bank is much more helpful.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Be more respectful of my decision not to come in for a meeting rather than treat me like a naughty 5 year old

Please avoid using Sharman Quinney under any circumstances. If I could have given no stars I would have, there is nothing good that can be said about this agency. It's honestly the worst agency I have ever come across and I've been in the industry myself for 14 years now.
They cannot even carry out basic due diligence when advertising a property so be prepared to be misinformed. One property was advertised as both freehold and leasehold, when we phoned to check we were told it was freehold, but it turned out through our solicitor it did have a lease too. They also didn't know the seller was only selling with a limited title not a full one, something that again only came to light through our solicitor six months later, a complete waste of everyone's time that could have been avoided if Sharman Quinney could be bothered to get to know the sellers and the houses they are selling better.
The property we eventually ended up buying was advertised as having allocated off road parking. When we phoned to check this we were told this was definitely correct. Common sense told us this didn't seem right as none of the properties there had parking and the space was no where near the house! It turned out this was not the case at all and there was no parking with the house. It no longer fitted our needs however as this all happen several weeks down the line, and we were due to be made homeless in a matter of weeks, we simple had no choice but to proceed. Sharman Quinney's response to this was 'we take the word of our sellers' so it seems they will believe anything you tell them as a seller, despite the fact common sense should have made any competent agent question the parking situation in this case. Sharman quinney are the only agency I know to get away with not carrying out basic due diligence.
You will never be able to get hold of anyone at the branch, we had to phone another branch on many occasions to get them to contact the Shelford office for us, they don't reply to any phone calls or emails. They have a turn over of staff every few weeks, you are not told when someone is leaving nor introduced to someone new starting. The person starting will also have no clue what's going on with the sale so be prepared to constantly have to repeat yourself. They do not bother giving you any updates or chase a sale for you, complete laziness. They will be sitting on their personal mobile phones everytime you drive past.
When we raised a complaint about their shortfallings and appalling service, we didn't get a single apology. How this agency is still running honestly baffles me, at the very least the Shelford branch should not be allowed to continue practicing.

Terrible experience. Be warned and avoid. This was my first experience selling a property and Sharman Quinney, and Adam Tanswell in particular, were a nightmare to deal with. It started out with a few small warning signs as Adam came to our home and he seemed a bit pushy, but we went ahead with advertising our property with them – if only we’d gone with our instincts and not assumed all agents are like this.
After an initial 2 weeks with 4 viewings (none of which came to anything), things cooled off very quickly. We went several weeks with few viewings or communication and had to push them for updates. After 6 weeks we were getting really disheartened and asked if we could give 30 days’ notice and give someone else a go (Adam made it clear when we met, we could give 30 days’ notice to end the contract). Their response was to send excerpts from the contract highlighting that 30 days could only be given after week 25!! And if we advertised with anyone else their fees would go up considerably and they would try to block any sale independent of them or seek their inflated fees on top.
It was a really intimidating and stressful time, they should have tried to address our concerns and offered advice and reassurance rather than point to the contract points in their favour.
We got advice to take it to an ombudsman who would be very concerned by such a long length of contract and poor terms, but despite this we waited out the 25 weeks to be free. We received more no shows than viewings (few of either) and towards the end of the contract they tried to pressure is into selling to a property developed for well under the asking price.
To make matters worse, once the contract ended, they sent us a bill for £150 for their advertising and requested we pay it within 3 days. Ironically, we couldn’t get any reply from Adam or Mike Sharman when we wanted advice towards the and of the contract, and they were slow to respond to requests to remove our ads after the contract ended – but quick to send us this bill and request immediate payment (twice in two days). There are plenty of much better agents out there, and we’ve had a much better experience now we’re with someone else. Avoid Sharman Quinney and Adam Tanswell.

But they could have called us... did not. When we finally spoke the guy was terse, clearly angry that we had not turned up to view in person. When we explained that his colleague had agreed to a remote viewing, he failed to apologise. Or explain why he did not call us.
I'm genuinely interested in the property, so if you were the owner trying to sell it... well wouldn't that suck badly.
AVOID.

Didn't sell our house. Neighbour purchased. Insist we have to pay them around £3000 although we sold ourselves and did all work with buyer and solicitor. Yes, beware six month contract. Paying them for nothing. Made many mistakes and âtyposâ to suit themselves.... Read Full Review
