I am a landlord and have been renting my flat in Mayfair through Foxtons for a number of years now, on and off. I can recommend them in so far as they have consistently achieved the asking price, and the flat has rarely been left unlet for more than 2 weeks. They have been thoroughly professional in all dealings throughout.

I have had an absolutely dreadful experience with Foxtons, particularly their Mayfair & Marylebone branch. From the very beginning, their service has been marked by negligence, incompetence, and a total disregard their clients.
Despite multiple attempts to engage with their team regarding serious concerns, my emails and complaints have been completely ignored—even at the highest levels of the company. I escalated my concerns through their official complaints process, only to be met with silence and indifference. Even reaching out to the CEO’s office resulted in zero response, which speaks volumes about their attitude towards customer service.
Foxtons promotes itself as a premium estate agency, but in reality, their service is anything but. They are unresponsive, dismissive, and seem to believe they are above accountability. The fact that I now have to escalate this to The Property Ombudsman and relevant regulators shows how utterly incapable they are of handling basic complaints.
If you are considering using Foxtons, I strongly urge you to think twice. There are far better estate agencies that will actually treat you with respect and professionalism—something Foxtons has failed to do at every level.
Save yourself the stress, time, and frustration—go elsewhere.

The worst experience I have had while renting in London in the past 8 years. Foxtons rented out an apartment with no working heating and never did anything to resolve the matter. They as well as the landlord were aware of this issue beforehand and failed to mention anything during the enquiry about the flat. The Foxtons property manager told us to think about how much money we would be saving in not running the central heating instead of anything being done to address the issue, and went through the whole winter (one of the coldest reported for London) without any heating!! They also neglected to fix a boiler for over 7 months, running up our electricity bills and after numerous phone calls and messages asking them to have someone come look at it, it finally took place 8 months after the issue was raise. To add to that, the engineer who came to finally fix it informed us we were lucky the boiler didn’t blow. No accountability or explanation from Foxtons as to why this happened or why it took so long to arrange. They have no regard for their tenants who come to them looking for a home, I would implore anyone looking to rent in London to consider seeking another agent as this experience with Foxtons is one that has put myself off for life, and I would hate the thought of anyone else having to go through what I did for the last year. I went through all the proper channels to tried and speak to someone about my issues but it seems the designated property manager, the letting agent and even upper management all the way to a lettings director do not care to help, as they stop replying to messages or emails, dodge calls and never return call back requests. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. From the experience I have had, even one star is too generous.

If you're looking to let or find your new spot, I strongly encourage you to ensure she is not working on your deal/account. You won't get a spot but instead will get a platter of aggressive, vile energy and attitude to deal with.

I should have realised something was off already at the start when I paid the holding deposit, then the day after I signed the contract and after signing the contract I left home and went for a job interview and on my way to the interview I kept receiving calls and messages from agent Abdala Fuad (from the Shepard's Bush office) telling me I had to transfer the first month of rent and the remaining of the deposit in the next half hour (while I was doing my job interview) or I would have lost the flat to someone else - please note that this was when the contract had already been signed. I quickly ended the job interview as I was fearing being left homeless on short notice. The day of the check in, Abdala Fuad called me to inform me that the shower in the flat wasn't working at all, he sympathised that the situation was annoying but asked me to make arrangements to shower elsewhere for the first 3 days of the tenancy assuring me that it would have been fixed within 3 days. The shower took indeed 25 days to fix. For 25 days I could not live at the property as there wasn't a working shower, I had to arrange last minute a short term let which was crazy expensive and that to this day still hasn't been refunded to me by Foxtons/the landlord, and I also had to waste several hours every day for almost a month on the phone chasing Foxtons to get the shower fixed. The property management team is shocking. I have had to deal with Tim, Courtney, Dina, Francisco, Eleanor, Edward and honestly wouldn't be able to pick the worst as they were all absolutely terrible. Appalling customer service. After the shower was finally fixed, turned out though that Foxtons/the landlord not only didn't want to refund me the crazy cost of the alternative accommodation I had to get, but they also had absolutely no intention to refund me the rent paid for the 25 days the flat was inhabitable. I had to get lawyers involved so that I eventually managed to be compensated. Furthermore, only a month after the start of the tenancy, cladding replacement works were due to start. Both the landlord and Foxtons were well aware of this as the works had been planned at least a year in advance. They deliberately chose to not disclose this to me while showing me the flat. For 11 months out of 12 of my tenancy I had scaffolding around all the windows, I was told I could not use the balcony (one of the reasons for which I took the flat) which became a building site and I had to pay for storage for my balcony furniture and the worst thing was that there was unbearable noise 6 days a week. It was hell. Another headache and non-sense was that in the last two months of the tenancy I had several calls a day from dozens of Foxtons agents constantly wanting to show the flat to prospective tenants. I understand that the flat had to be remarketed, however Foxtons cannot expect tenants to be ok with receiving calls non stop from all their agents from all their London offices. Some coordination is urgently needed. My unpaid full time occupation literally became answering calls, messages, emails from Foxtons agents and booking in viewings for my own flat. Cherry on top after finally moving out I had to call Foxtons everyday for about 20 days to get my deposit back, which was eventually returned to me only after almost 20 days, when the law requires it to be returned within 10 days from the end of the tenancy. Honestly stay away from Foxtons unless you want your life to become hell!

I called the company to file a complaint, as I was shocked by how unprofessional and disrespectful the agent was. They told me that the manager would call me once she got back; of course, no one ever called me back. I can't come close to understanding how this company has gotten so big. My friends have similar experiences with other agents, who lied about the conditions of the houses and refused to show them the properties. To put simply: avoid this company at all costs...

Unfortunately, I have had a very negative experience with Foxtons in my recent move.
They sent me a failed reference checks and had me contact two of my previous landlords to see what was happening, when actually the Reference checking Agency had not even talked to the previous landlords.
Then, they misinterpreted my notes on the contract and did not bother checking with me despite the landlord checking with them. As a result, they disposed of a sofa I didnt ask to dispose of, but did not dispose of a fridge I wanted out. And while confusion does happen, they did not see it necessary to apologise or admit to their role in the confusion and just wished me good luck.
The level of customer service left me indeed powerless, but very dissatisfied.

In a word, rude. The agent was, as expected, friendly and eager to help. Talking to his manager though, I've realized that I don't want to spend a day being tied to this agency, yet alone for a 2 year contract. I can get my professional integrity questioned for free - I don't need to pay an estate agency to do that. While most of the staff were actually nice, I feel they have wasted my time and are managed by someone with a personality as charming as that of Paul Pot.

Prior to contacting Foxtons, my opinion of estate agents was beneath rating. My experience of Foxtons has caused me to completely re-think my use of agents. The Foxtons website contains properties that exist, and are described accurately and realistically. The availability for viewing these properties is convenient and tailored wholly to the needs of the customer. Daphne Cirian worked tirelessly to ensure that I viewed all the properties I wanted, gave me time to think and review and went out of her way to ensure she was available to show me more property when I was undecided. She took the time to take me to each property, and explained the workings of Foxtons during the journeys. She showed an enthusiasm for her work, and real loyalty to her employer which cultivated a real sense of professionalism. She has patience over and above that of anyone I've met in the word of agents. I am not he easiest person to please, and agents start from a very low point in my opinion. This has changed forever. Once a property was found, and I decided to proceed, Victoria Atkinson became involved but Daphne was still present and involved. Victoria did the negotiations between myself and the property owner and similarly made herself available to coincide with my timetable. Moving home is up there in the top 5 of the most stressful experiences in life. I can honestly say that from an absolute sceptic, to a true convert my experience of Foxtons has been massively impressive. I have not know such a professional level of service, and unending amount of patience and a readiness to communicate in a way that suits me, and in a time frame that suits me. Foxtons ahs a high standard reputation that was established long before I tried them out. If they can impress me, they can impress anyone. Id like to thank Daphne and Victoria publicly for all their hard work in making this experience one of the best I've ever had. Thank you.
