Decided to get on the housing ladder. Had a meeting with the (independent) mortgage adviser who called back the following week with info about an AIP. Requested written confirmation about it but never heard anything again. Tried calling and e-mail - no response. Visited and e-mailed the branch to find out information - again, nothing forthcoming. 1,5 weeks ago called by the branch in Ripley to confirm whether I am still looking to buy a property. Advised them of what has been happening and was promised would be in touch within 24 hours. Never heard anything back. My advice: don't go near them. At best the treatment is rude; at worst down right unprofessional. Buying a house is stressful enough as it is - especially for a first time buyer - but to be kept in the dark and actively ignored especially after being informed everything should be fine is unacceptable.

I thought there was one in Ripley as the telephone call on the Friday where I explained my experience and was promised it would be looked into responded within 24 hours came from a Ripley-registered number. Absolutely discusted in the way I have been spoken to by a member of staff at the Allestree branch.
Nothing but push and push is into paying the application fee. Told they were refundable when we went to view the property (which was an absolute state might I add) to find out they are not.
Nothing was clearly explained and now there is a lot more to pay that I originally thought. (My own faults for signing anything but still wasn't explained)
I got told on the phone I was a liar with my circumstances and that the house is now back on the market with nothing I could do.
I have now lost out completely a lot of money they take no responsabilty what's so ever. In order to not loose my money I now have to rent the property with them but after reading these reviews I am so upset and do not want to do this!
Lost for words with how arsey Jess is. Do not give any money or sign anything with Hall and Benson. The company is discusting.

My rent I have found compared to others in my are is shocking. We pay an extra 175.00 more than most on our street and they don't have to put up with a house falling apart

We are current tenants of H+B. Me and my family moved towns to be near a good hospital and family for my medical needs, I have had nothing but stress from this company. They do not want to know when it comes to repairs, when I looked around and pointed problems out, I was lied to saying either 'we have checked that and its fine' or 'that will be fixed before you move in'. When we moved in a window had been broken (wasn't fixed for 8 weeks!!!) and all the problems promised to be fixed still haven't 9months later. We have been left with big electrical problems in the property, one room is that bad that no plug sockets or light work at all. Despite us being good tenants, never having a late payment and making many improvements to the house we are still treated like dirt. I have literally been in tears over the phone to them explaining that these problems are causing me so much stress and that I will move if they are not done soon.... they either don't get back to me when they say they will, or give me some rubbish about blaming somebody else for the hold up. A man called Stewart was in charge of all the repairs and has now suddenly 'left'... yet again we must call them over and over to beg them to get the repairs done. DO NOT USE HALL AND BENSON!
