We are current tenants of a flat we have moved into in the last month. My husband has MS, and we selected this flat based on the fact that there was a master bedroom and a bathroom with walk in shower on the lower level. The downstairs bathroom smelled strongly of mildew when we moved in. I noted it on the inventory and figured when Clyde came to inspect in two weeks or something, I'd point it out as a concern. That ended up being unnecessary because a person in an office downstairs came up to report that there was damp in his wall, and could he look at our bathroom. We let him in, then came the parade of plumbers and other various workers from both this man's team, but also the landlord's insurance, the building factor's team, etc. I can't keep them all straight. They tore up the bathroom--sure enough it's been leaking for quite some time. They put the sink and vanity and other bits and pieces of the bathroom into the downstairs master bedroom, which we were still in the process of unpacking, and is where my husband needs to sleep. So now he is without both bathroom/shower facilities downstairs and a bedroom because this sink/vanity is completely in the way and we cannot move boxes in/out, set up his furniture, etc. There is an upstairs bathroom, however my husband cannot use the upstairs shower (that shower has also been problematic, but for minor reasons) because it is a tub that he is unable to climb into, and the roof slants very sharply so that when you stand in the shower, your face/head is literally inches from this low sloping, tiled wall. Very dangerous for a person with adequate balance, never mind a guy with MS and balance issues. Clyde's letting agent, Jordan, lacks customer service skills and has dismissed all this as if it is no big deal, and essentially that it is our fault for renting this property. According to him, we should have rented a bungalow instead. Unfortunately, we paid six months rent in advance in addition to rather a lot of fees. When we email regarding any sort of repair, Jordan either diminishes the complaint (i.e. the shower had no water coming out of it--Jordan referred to this as 'slightly low water pressure') or acts incredulous, as if we are inventing things. I'm extremely disappointed in what little experience I have with Clyde so far. I feel we are being taken advantage of by Clyde and the property owner. Due to the extremely poor customer relations, the poorly maintained property, and the general attitude towards repair requests, I would strongly recommend avoiding Clyde, both to tenants and prospective landlords.
I'm fairly certain the MARAS fee is illegal in Scotland.

Sep 28, 2017Update: the workers who are fixing the bathroom broke the snib on the door and said nothing to us, so unbeknownst to us, we were sitting with an unlocked/unlatched door on our apartment all night. Upon reporting this to Jordan Kirkwood at Clyde, he first insisted it was that we just didn't understand how to use the snib...seriously. Then demanded photographic evidence of it not working, which we refused on principle. Finally he told us if he sent a guy over and it wasn't actually broken, they'd be charging US for the call out. He said the workers fixing the bathroom told him they fixed it. They had not. My husband told Jordan this, and he replies with this: "For the avoidance of doubt, and since Aspray have assured me the snib is working correctly, I have kindly asked Aspray to provide you a demonstration of the snib in operation. I have also asked them to also submit a video demonstation to me for my own perusal." Talk about condescending and totally unprofessional! I went out and had a brief word with the workers and they fixed it immediately. Clyde and this guy Jordan are really not fit for this job.

Oct 20, 2017I agree. I called Jordan and advised that I waited an hour after our viewing time of 18:30 as no agent showed up. Jordan said "I really don't understand why you waited an hour but I will make sure you are called back tomorrow morning". I didn't get my call back and had to call them back.
