After much research and deliberation we carefully selected Stags to market our property. Sadly the experience fell short of our expectations. After Stags had inspected our property and deemed it suitable as the type of property they would be willing to market, Stags informed us that their fee was absolutely non negotiable. We agreed to continue, but in hindsight wished we hadn't. Stags were unable to accompany the majority of our viewing, even with a weeks notice at a notorious quiet time of year. Towards the end of proceedings, Stags failed to pass on vital communication with our buyer which resulted in the buyer coming to us directly for information on the progress of the sale. We were starting to wonder what we were paying Stags to do as we seemed to be doing all the work ourselves. Our advice would be- select an alternative estate agent who have the courtesy and time to concentrate on your property rather than making you feel like an inconvenience. We can only hope that this review will save some poor souls from the same anguish and frustration that we endured.

24 Apr 2018Thank you very much for your review and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. I have looked back over our detailed notes taken during the process of selling your property. These extend to 23 pages long and I have counted 104 phone calls and 18 emails that Stags undertook in the process of seeing your sale successfully through from marketing to completion in the space of nine months. Selling a property can be a stressful process, especially where issues are uncovered during surveys. We are sorry that you found this to be the case with your property. We were unable to attend two of your viewings as they were requested for a Saturday morning, which is our most busy time. We always offer the option to rearrange a viewing so that someone from Stags can attend. Alternatively we give the vendor the option to accompany the viewing themselves, which is what you opted to do. As you know, we have discussed your issues with our service in person with you, in accordance with the Stags Complaints Procedure and the situation has been dealt with at partnership level by the management of Stags. We hope that now you have found a new home and sold your property through Stags things will settle down for you and be less stressful going forward.

24 Apr 2018Thank you David for your prompt response. As you correctly stated, Stags were unable to attend two of our viewing...two out of a total of THREE viewings we may add. We can only hope that Stags have acted on advice issued to them by The Ombudsman Services: Property, to prevent others experiencing a service that falls below expectations.

Having got to the point of exchange only to be left down on 4 houses in 2 years we were debating whether to carry on with the house move journey! Brilliant experience buying a property in Polruan, Cornwall at the end of last year. Simon Cooper of Stags in Plymouth was extremely professional and patient with what was an unusually complex sale due to difficulties with title over the land and multiple other issues.
