Worse than incompetent, I do not recommend dealing with this company if you have any choice not to. They never return phonecalls or messages and there is never the right person in the office to talk to. They took 3 months to fix blown double glazing in the middle of winter when we had a 4 month old trying to sleep in the room. They will rent you a property that it not safe for children without any warning. And finally your property manager may just go on holiday for the week if your check out without a replacement contact person being offered.

Do not use if you have any chance not to. We moved into a property managed by Breckon recently and there were so many things broken in the property that I lost count. It took us weeks to get even half the stuff fixed or replaced and then even then we fixed some of the items ourselves and at our own expense because we couldn’t bear the weight any longer. They couldn’t even lease us the property with working light bulbs.

Every time we have listed a fault in the property, we have required proof, chase up phonecalls and even then they don’t believe what’s broken until a contractor has looked. This means any repair takes forever (assuming it happens at all).

In addition, when utilities were transferred into our name for the start of the tenancy Breckon gave them all an incorrect name for me! I had to spend my time phoning you everyone just to correct this so that it would all work legally with my bank.

Sold my cottage through Breckon & Breckon Witney office recently and have to say that the professionalism and support they offered was absolutely quality.

The property was quite nuanced and really needed a particular type of buyer which did take time. Breckon were excellent throughout the process - our second agent made a point of dragging anyone they could to look at the property whereas I felt Breckon screened potential buyers much more professionally and ultimately found the right buyer.

Unfortunately my solicitors were pretty awful and nearly resulted in the sale falling through. However, Breckon, and John in particular put in a huge amount of effort to help us keep the sale on track.

I can't praise the effort and dedication of John and the team enough to help us get the sale done.

Would recommend above the other chain agencies in Witney who just play the numbers game and just repeatedly recommend reducing the price so they can get a sale, Breckon never once pressured us to reduce the price and were patient to wait for the right buyer at the right price for us.

I had a very similar experience to Seb in that on-boarding was a dream but checking out was a nightmare. Their ‘revolutionary’ (their word not mine) check out system was awful and far from revolutionary – it was 2 weeks from the end of my tenancy for the system to start the process. In the end I had to deal with them direct and not use the system. I was told by the agency that they would have to get the property cleaned but acknowledged that there was ‘not much to do’. They then tried to charge me £460 for cleaning plus another £100 for 3 light bulbs and a few dead pot plants (that have never been replaced).
In addition they gave me less than 24 hours notice of a viewing, turned up early when I was not in and entered the property without authorisation or agreement. They would not expect that this was wrong or accept any responsibility.
I would not use them again.

Right I have to change my review from 5 stars to 1 and to be honest if it would be possible I would give Breckon & Breckon 0 stars. My previous review was based on the renting new property experience. Not surprisingly when the agency wants your money everything is great and easy. Unfortunately after a year at the property and the most pathetic and disappointing check out process I changed my mind and want to warn all potential tenants to AVOID THIS ESTATE AGENCY AT ALL COST.
I have some experience with renting from letting agents and we all know that it's painful and costly experience. I have been renting for over 16 years and have to say Breckon & Breckon managed to top the list of ridiculous and frankly out of order tactics I have ever come across during all 16 years. I have always respected the property I lived in and when leaving always left it in better condition then found it. This time was exactly the same. During tenancy I replaced lot of little items in the house, replaced the silicon around bath, shower, kitchen sink, repainted walls, professional clean the carpets and lots more. Initial the agency was trying to deduc money for the condition of the carpets. When I supplied very detailed photos and description of the condition of the carpets and the rest of the house which was recorded by me the day I picked up the keys the agency realized that they won't be able to unfairly charge and make money for that so they moved to what I can describe as the most pathetic and ridiculous reasoning for the money deduction I have ever come across. They could not find anything wrong so charged me for the chip and dust on blinds, chip on skirting boards and house not cleaned to professional standards. See the photos below and decided for yourself.........just think twice before you rent from them.....I will never make the same mistake.

Must commend Breckon & Breckon for not only our smooth transition into the apartment in north Oxford but also when ending tenancy too.
Response, attitude, comfort and convenience all excellent throughout our two year stay. I have rented privately before - both very good and absolute horror experiences, using Breckon's though has been so much more reassuring - any problems we had were addressed promptly, the deposit returned also speedily. For peace and mind, would definitely recommend in Oxford.

If I could, I’d give 0 stars.

We were looking for our first home. We found a lovely cottage but after placing an offer, we got that rejected. We moved on and continued with our search.

It was a month later when they contacted us again, saying that the other buyer was “crazy and unreliable”. Patrick would call you late Friday afternoon and would refuse to write anything down in an email.

Non-the-less, we looked through the poor communication and unprofessional behaviour, as we wanted the house. Little did we know, that the vendor will soon also be called “crazy and unreliable” this time by Chris, the main guy. Despite twice daily calls for three weeks straight, we felt that we were the middle man between the agent and vendor plus the estate agent’s psychotherapist. We have eventually had to pull out of the purchase as frankly we got fed up with such treatment. I know there are some positive reviews here, but you wonder what these people are saying about you behind your back.

They are so slow moving it’s unbelievable, you have to chase them and remind them ten times before they do anything, it takes them weeks to do it, and they have left me living in an extremely mouldy damp flat with a small child putting our health at risk for months on end! I would not recommend unfortunately they clearly don’t care about their tenants health. It is a shame because the we love the flat but just don’t want to live in mould and I’m at a loss of what to do.

I am writing on behalf of all of the Directors of the Paradise Heights Management Company. We have been very satisfied with the service that has been received in the past year. The Breckon and Breckon staff have been courteous, helpful, and effective in dealing with the affairs of the development. Their handling of the finances and financial reporting has been exemplary; the system of reporting and information via the dedicated portal has worked effectively; routine maintenance issues have been addressed promptly and efficiently; despite the pandemic, progress has already been made on a backlog of long term maintenance that had not been tackled by previous agents; and they have been responsive to, and engaged with, the Directors in regular meetings.

The attached pictures show our newly laid lawn after the house had been apparently ‘managed’ by Breckon and Breckon. Their excuse... the weather hasn’t been good enough to mow it. Really? For a whole year? To be fair, they offered to carry out a ‘seasonal tidy’ but 4 months later the new owners are still waiting, and as you can see, a ‘seasonal tidy’ is not going to restore the lawn to a useable state.
