I have been letting my property through Strakers for over 10 years, not because I enjoy letting through them, but because I recieved the house with a tenant, whom is a lovely lady and gives me no grief whatsoever, and strakers had originally organised the let. I have never changed the agent due to convenience. But my oh my if my tenant ever wanted to contact me it is unlikely Strakers could facilitate that. They email me my statements every month and both my email and my primary phone number have not changed once. Yet yesterday I got a correspondance again, that they could not find any way to contact me and therefore reached out to my parents (the same day I got my statement per email). This has happened at least five times in the past, and if I stay a day longer with them I can assure they will magically misplace my contact details again. I have not had the same agent for any stretch of time, their staff turnover must be ridiculous, this must be the reason they keep misplacing data. I have more grievances with them, but this is the most vexing.

I rented a property through them and found them to be one of the many terrible agents. High fees, tried to charge every 6 months until I researched and found this to be illegal, visited the property every six months so no doubt charging the landlotd, and invading my priavcy and not allowing me to feel I have a home. Didn't deal with maintenance issues with any speed at all-took months and nagging or ignored it. The last disgusting behaviour was when I left, they lied about the state of the property ensuring I didn't get my deposit back and leaving me in debt.

The process of buying and selling a house as everyone knows, is immensely stressful. Partly due to the unpredictability of buyers/sellers and the changing local market. We have used Devizes Strakers partly because they have the best record of success in the area, but mostly because the whole office staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and go well beyond their remit to insure their client is well informed and happy. We were renovating a property and the agent gave us invaluable advice on what the majority of buyers are looking for in a bungalow property, and we were able to make adjustments to improve the property and make it more suitable for buyers. We asked them all sorts of advice, building regulations, legal issues, local requirements-they were always able to help us even if it meant finding out and then coming back with the information. We were very lucky that Strakers found us a client interested in our property as we were renovating it, and our sale and completion was very speedy. We always appreciate their advice and would highly recommend them to anyone looking at buying or selling a property in their area. We are so pleased we are using them on our next property :)

I would like to say what wonderful agents Strakers have been, assisting me with sales over the past months. Selling your house can be so stressful and people so unpredictable but they are sensitive and consistent in their approach to move the sale forward and work through issues which there usually are to some degree. We had quite a complex chain involved with our sale and it was taking a while to get responses from our buyers solicitors. The good thing about the Straker's team is that they have staff allocated to the case and when asked questions if they do not know they will find out and get back to you. The sale has now gone through and from start to finish Strakers remained focused and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend them to future buyers and sellers. To me they are the best in the area and I did alot of research on this beforehand.

Whatever you do,do not rent a property through these agents. They are despicable people on the management side who will tell you on checking out at the end of your tenancy how clean you have left the property only to then submit a cleaning bill. Luckily we spoke to the cleaning company who told us that the property did not need cleaning & that any work would be done free. They will try to bill you for the removal of weeds in the garden which are flowers. They will never help you during the tenancy. Be warned give them a wide berth.

Awful experience selling. Was told to sell with them so they could represent more firmly to a house we were interested in buying. Absolutely untrue! They asked nothing about our property and were unable to respond to queries. They left our property unlocked over a weekend and their view on our complaints was that it was tough, we were under contract. We only sold when my wife started attending viewings in order to answer questions. A shoddy outfit, poor quality. A team of nice people let down by a stereotypical sales culture.

I went into the Devizes office to enquire about letting our property as we were relocatng abroad, Karen came to view the property and gave the impression of being able to meet our set target of August to let out the property. We sat down while she took a brief history of the property, where we were relocating to and also how much the property would cost to rent monthly as well as their 15% commission fees. She then agreed to send me some forms for myself and my husband to complete. I waited for over a week but heard nor received anything from her which I considered to be rather rude and inconsiderate. I must say I am really appalled by this company's behaviour and would never have anything to do with them again nor recommend them to anyone.

I share rented a house in Devizes. 6 months in I was accused of an an assault which never took place. The police arrested me as they must do with any complaint of assault -even if false. The lodger who I contend was trying to frame me took it upon themselves to knock all the doors of neighbours, the landlady and also visit the estate agents to inform them of this alleged assault. This person put pinch marks on their neck and said that I had puncher her. Infact it was she who assaulted me! I had a shiner on my cheek to prove it! The next thing that happens is I am informed by Strakers that I have roken my tenancy agreement by being arrested and must leave the premises within 2 weeks! You are allowed by law to have 2 months to vacate a premises. That aside I told Strakers that these charges that were laid before me were false and that the charges would be dropped by the police - so not to penalise me for false accusations. They were not interested at all. They wanted me out and said that they would evict me within the 2 weeks. I told them I would see them in court if that was attempted. Still in the meantime I was forced to go on the hunt for another house as I realised Strakers were inflexible and were not interested in fair play and hearing both sides of a story and letting the police deal with this matter properly so as to clear me. I found another house and had to arrange at my own expense to remove my belongings and did this within the 2 weeks luckily. The agents from Strakers came to inspect the house and claimed that decorations would need to be done as I had done damage to the place. This was completely false as when I arrived the kitchen cupboards were actually hanging off the wall at an angle and many things like this I had corrected and I kept a full range of photos of every room to prove beyond any doubt that I had infact cleaned the place up not damaged it. I even decorated some areas as they were well away at my own expense and the garden was a complete mess - fungus on all the concrete walls which I even cleaned and stone masonry paint applied to huge area - transforming the whole garden. They still wanted to have a depive me of my deposit. So I said to them I would rather stay for my legally allowed 2 months and fight this through the courts if they were going to try and be awkward with me over giving me my full deposit back. I was treated like I was some form of criminal by the agents and given snyde behaviour throughout. To get me out thy gave me my full deposit back begrudgingly but completely AS SO THEY SHOULD! As it turned out 2 months on I was informed that all investigations against me were dropped as there was NO EVIDENCE. I wasnt at any time even charged - this was simply an enquiry. So as I told Strakers they had acted against me when I was completely innocent acting as Judge and Jury against me when they didnt even know any of the details. So a short while after the police cleared me I went in to Strakers and spoke to the lady who evicted me and was starting to tell her that I had this case dropped but she just cut me off and pointed to the door and said Get out otherwise I will call the police. I refused to leave until I had told her and the other staff in ear shot that I was totally innocent and they evicted me unfairly from my home which cost me a lot of money to do for no good reason, then I left. All my dealings with them were terrible and I would suggest that anyone be aware that if you let from them - they will do the same to you if for any reason they dislike you or you get into any minor trouble through no fault of your own - you will be booted out on your head! AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE.

The heating remained on when hot water being heated and this was dreadful during the summer. A green hose pipe was used to correct a leak.
I would never recommend this organisation.

Awful to deal with. We put an offer in on a property which was accepted by the vendor on a Saturday. By Monday Strakers decided to tell us that the vendor was not prepared to remove the property from the market in case they received a higher offer.....which they mysteriously did the next day. We increased our offer to full asking price which was again accepted, then the following day (Thurs) we were told they had received yet another higher offer and if we really wanted the property, we would need to go in over the full asking price. We pulled out of buying the property & made the bold step of speaking to the vendors directly who didn't have a clue what was going on and thought we were the ones purchasing their property!
