Was a tenant with Parkers for a number of years. Avoid this company at all cost. The property was let to us in a horrific state and the property manager failed to respond on a number of occasions. When the property moved from Samuel James to Parkers, they lost the keys on the move over and we had to arrange getting the keys cut to give to them. They did not replace the lock, putting us in a huge security risk. They also left a huge hole in the front door when they changed a faulty lock leaving us at risk. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Parkers failed to follow their own guidelines and staff attended with no PPE including no face masks or sanitiser, putting me at risk. In a complaint, the Managing Director did not wish to comment, nor did they answer any of the complaints raised. They left us with a shower that ran between scalding hot and freezing cold and spat limescale at us, a fridge that would freeze food and a washing machine that flooded the kitchen when put on a 60 cycle. The company is an absolute shambles, and has lied to me and tried to blame me for the majority of the issues raised. When looking for rental accommodation, avoid Parkers at all costs, their staff do not care about paying clients. Look elsewhere and save yourself the bother.

I was a tenant who paid the checkin chages, but got the house in a shabby conditions with a 70page report of all the issues. The basic health and safety was compromised and there was no inspection carriedout. My kids fell sick because of dust and mould in the house and no one in parkers cared about us and value for human life was neglected.We lived inhaling leaked gas for months and one day boiler failed and had to call emergency.There was no proper inspection carried out and justification for checkin charges was not addressed and the house was not safe to live. There is Illegal practices followed by the team and there is favourism to be in good books of the owner and where ever possible tenants are fined to get te large repair work done all though it was not the mistake of the tenants. It was a hard struggle to go to Ombutsman and they will not tell you the process. The check out was also not professional and they will Rip of the advance payment even though I got the cleaning done from their authorised cleaning agency.

We rented a flat through Parkers and stayed for two years as we paid relatively low rent for Reading. The initial letting process was easy though the fees were expensive (with an extra charge tacked on to what we were initially told it would be when we went to Market Place branch to pay). The flat was old-fashioned and needed a full clean, we asked for a professional clean to be done before we moved in and this was put in the contract and agreed. While the place had been given a fresh coat of paint, clearly the professional clean was never carried out and the flat was a disgrace with the previous tenants' 'marks' still in the toilet. Further evidence of the state of the flat was in the inventory which stated the kitchen and bathroom had been 'domestically cleaned', not professionally. Being keen to move in we naively set about cleaning it ourselves and didn't take any photographs - fast forward two years and we leave the entire flat cleaner than when we moved in but have nearly £300 taken from our deposit for cleaning, including such petty items as 'dust in carpet around door frame'. We admitted there were two items with minor damage which we accepted and paid for but having received less than half of the deposit we feel completely ripped off - we lived there quietly for two years and in the end were rinsed for all the money they could get from us. Perhaps we could have taken it to a formal dispute but without hard photo evidence we realised we didn't have the proof to back ourselves up, plus we couldn't bear having to deal with Parkers for any longer than we had too. I've noticed the positive reviews on this site are mostly from the landlords and sellers, with negative 1-star reviews from the actual tenants, and I think that really tells you everything you need to know about where Parkers' priorities lie. My advice to anyone renting through Parkers is to ensure you photograph everything yourself when moving in and do not rely on the inventory - keep all complaints in writing as evidence. We are doing this from now on and happy to say our new letting agency is 100% better.

When I first started renting with Parkers they seemed pretty good but over the years their standards have definitely slipped.
They took far too long to carry out repairs. I spent two weeks in the middle of winter without a working boiler (and I had a 17 month old baby at the time). I wasn't given any indication of when it would be fixed or any reassurance that they were trying to sort it out during that time.
Some (by no means all) of their contractors were rude and intimidating and sometimes they were given keys to enter the property without my knowledge or permission.
They were dishonest when dealing with the return of my deposit, claiming that the TDS agreed with some of the charges. When I contacted the TDS for advice I was told they (TDS) could not comment on specific cases to anyone as they were impartial. I raised a dispute and it turned out that actually the TDS did not agree with those charges.
When I moved out my email address was added to their marketing mailing list without my permission, but at least they have removed it since data protection laws have changed.

My house was taking a long time to sell and Parkers approached us to assist. On initial contact the context given by their representative was regarding entering into a joint agency agreement with the other agent, and that's what we understood we were entering into. Whether intentionally done or by mistake, the virtual paperwork we signed (yes, lesson learned!) indicated that we had entered into a sole agency agreement with them. This was not mine nor my partner's intention. Parkers did not explain the consequences of this, or the requirement to instruct the other agent to stand down. This may have sounded naive but we are not experts in house selling or contracts! Long story short, we received an offer on the house the following week from a buyer introduced by the first agent. I then received a phone call from Damien, explaining that Parkers were to be due the fees as we had broken the terms of the agreement if this person had been introduced when they had rights as sole agents. I was horrified, stressed and mortified at the prospect of having wasted several thousand pounds. Luckily the buyer was someone who had seen the house several months earlier, but I was frankly shocked at how Parkers then started to treat both me and the other agents. I felt they were aggressive and intimidating, and downright rude. Luckily my first estate agents helped smooth the way and the house successfully sold.

Absolutely dreadful company to rent with. I moved in to one of their properties with my partner last year and it wasn't exactly a fantastic standard... scuffs on the walls, chipped door frames, the cover for the extract fan came out and hit me on the head. However we were hopeful as we were told at the time of moving in that all the scuffs and marks had been noted in the inventory and would be repaired/cleaned. Fast forward to the day we move out and what do you know, in the year we were there no one came to repair or clean any of the issues that were initially raised. To make matters worse when we move out we were billed for some of these things. To be quite honest I feel like we've been ripped off and wonder if the money that has been taken off of us will ever be spent on the house or whether it will just continue to be an addition to line the landlord's pockets... absolute disgrace.

This is not a good agent I would advise prospective tenants and landlords to stay away from them. I have rented with a few agencies before I bought my house and Parkers was the worst in an average low quality community. I was not happy with them during the tenure of my contract but the worst came when I told them I was not renewing.
We agreed they could bring people to see the house during the week but I would need notice if they wanted to bring anybody on the weekeend. First Saturday I was sleeping ans was woken up by a family of stranger in my bedroom. They probably were more embarassed that I was; not the agent who just told me the contract allowed him to do it and did not care to apologise.
The worst came when I left the house and asked for my deposit back. They just ignored me and said the landord was going to contact me, this never happened and i spent months (at least three) calling Parkers with no result. They ended up being rude and disgusting but never helped or showed any empathy.
I finally managed to reach the landor (by pure chance) and told him about the situation. He apoligised to me several times and told me he had already given the deposit money to the agent months ago. He assured he was going to speak to them immediately. A few days later the mone was in my account but I nver had a call or email from Parkers apologising or explaining the facts.
To sum up: avoid them. They should be out of the market

Parkers listed a property I was interested in, but when I called to arrange a viewing it was confirmed I was not allowed to as I had sold through Purple Bricks. When I challenged this it was down to purple bricks never complete. Again I challenged and was basically hung up on. Parkers are either arrogant enough to believe that this will slow down online estate agents growth (good luck with that), or only worried about how quickly they can turnover another property. Either way the only people that benefit from this business model is Parkers, certainly not their customers.
I don't know the numbers but I am certainly seeing more and more properties for sale through online companies, so Parkers are denying their customers the opportunity to sell to a growing section of the market, limiting potential buyers therefore reducing sale price. You would think that selling at a higher price would benefit them as the cut would be higher, but just kick it on seems to be the order of the day.
I did complete on my property as planned, and the property that I was told I couldn't see was then relisted as it had fallen through (the irony was not lost on me). As a chain free buyer I was now allowed to view the property as I fit the kick it on brief and put an offer in on the same day. This was rejected. I then offered a higher amount, waited 2 days after hearing nothing, chased only to be told the house had sold.
I would have increased my offer.
If I was selling a house and could have got more for it had my estate agent been bothered to pick up the phone to someone who is clearly interested in the house, I would not be best pleased.
Once again, this is either arrogance or greed (or incompetence). Certainly nothing in my experience shows that they are working to the clients best interest. I can make sure I never go anywhere near Parkers to sell, but I can only hope that any perspective sellers stay well clear so I can have a chance at viewing and buying your house.

Years back Parkers had a terrible reputation in Reading. Having spoken to three prospective estate agents re the sale of my property and not being happy with any of them, I took my daughters advice and tried Parkers, who she had used successfully 2 years ago. Ben Mitchell seemed to be honest friendly and approachable. I explained we wanted honesty, transparency, and regular updates good or bad. Plus I liked their shorter tie in clause and reasonable selling percentage.
A viewing day was arranged and there were even please remove your shoes notes up as the carpets were new. The house received offers very quickly, and Damien kept us constantly informed of developments and suggestions to help move things on more quickly. He was always able to email me back on queries or would return calls as soon as possible. I felt the whole process was handled professionally, honestly and patiently.
