Absolutely terrible service.

Northwood in Hastings were professional, friendly to deal with, efficient and effective.
They found a purchaser willing to pay the asking price, made the neccesary enquiries and kept the purchaser on board through some tricky negotiations. Although I became somewhat pessimistic they kept me informed at all stages and their reassurances proved valid. I have no hesitation in recommending them as selling agents.

Northwood have been a real pleasure to work with throughout this process, where I was purchasing a property through them. They were always keen to help, always friendly and extremely helpful. As a property developer I approached Northwood Hastings amongst many other agents in the area. I have been highly impressed from the start by the professionalism of Keith Knight and his team.
It could be said that Keith is an 'old school' agent. This is good. Unlike many they don't give over-inflated value estimates as sadly do most of the large chains these days. As a developer this is essential because I need to have reliable estimates in order to assess any potential project.
To any prospective seller I would say go to see Keith's team because although you probably wont get the highest valuation on your property, what you will get is a realistic valuation of what it will eventually sell for. As a result you will sell more quickly.
I'd also like to note the general helpfulness of the team. Even when I'm not looking at a property that Northwood is selling they are happy to give me the benefit of their considerable expertise and experience in the area.

Dear Mr Ryder
I had been meaning to send this email some months ago but have only just managed to escape work emails and catch up with my own bits.
In February I bought a house through your Hastings Branch.
I had been looking for a house for two years and had been gazumped or had survey problems several times almost to the point where I was giving up! I decided to spend a day in Hastings trudging around estate agents to see if I could find anything and also so i would be in the forefront of peoples minds if a house came on to the market.
Having had a miserable day with so many unprofessional people, I walked in to your Hastings branch and was greeted by the "ever friendly" Angela. Everyone was on the phone but Angela sat me down and I gave her my life story in terms of house hunting! Angela took all my details and offered me a cup of tea.
After a few minutes, Keith Knight came off the phone and apologized for listening in to my conversation but felt he might have the perfect house for me. He had picked up on my very specific requirements.
Almost immediately, Keith had called one of his contacts and managed to take me to a house that wasn't even on the market. It turned out to be the perfect house for me in the location I wanted!
The story went on for a month or so getting surveys done and finalizing the financial side. Keith did a fantastic job in negotiating the price down for me and also liaising with the owner on so many questions and specifics that I wanted to know.
In the background, Angela was working hard keeping up with the emails if Keith was out of the office and also being very welcoming during my several visits to the branch.
In these times when everyone is too quick to complain, I thought it only right to let you know how delighted I was with the service from Keith and Angela.
They were always friendly and professional and I have popped in to see them a couple of times since the purchase and they remain very friendly.
I am now looking to expand in to buy to let properties here and my first port of call when I am ready will be your office in Hastings.
Please pass on my thanks to Keith and Angela and I hope that I will be able to use their services again before too long.

Dane, handling the outside office enquiries, again first class. Organised new garage door locks, was excellent at making and keeping viewing appointments and dealing with handover of the rental property.

Complaints Procedure
COMPLAINT HANDLING PROCEDURE
Northwood aims to run a high calibre lettings and estate agency business. Whilst we do our best to operate in a professional way and to the highest standards, it is possible that you may be unhappy about how we have dealt with a particular situation.
We have a standard procedure for handling complaints which is as follows:
1. Making an initial complaint
Each office is independently owned and operated and has a local Director who will be, in part or in whole, an owner of the branch. In the first instance your complaint should be directed in writing to the local Director. He or she has an honest and sincere desire to resolve your complaint as soon as possible and should respond within ten working days.
2. Making a formal complaint
If for whatever reason you remain dissatisfied then please contact us. At this point we will send you a complaint form to enable you to provide full written details of your complaint and copies of any supporting evidence. The Complaints Officer appointed will investigate and provide an independent review of your complaint.

3. Receiving your complaint
We will acknowledge the receipt of your written complaint within three working days and explain our process for resolving it. Due to the independent nature of the investigation we regret that we can only respond in writing.
4. Resolving your complaint
We will then investigate your written complaint as soon as possible and write to you as soon as we have completed our investigation. This process should take 15 working days. In our letter (the final viewpoint letter) we will explain:

What we will do to put things right if we have made a mistake
5. Property Ombudsman Review
If you are still unhappy at this stage, you have the option to take your complaint to the Property Ombudsman within twelve months of the date of the final viewpoint letter.
