We were returning customers having bought our first property with McDougall McQueen. We wanted to use them again for continuity, as well as our previous excellent experience.
This time as we were selling for the first time too there was more paperwork and communication, but McD/McQ stayed in regular contact with us and were available quickly when we had questions. We felt supported throughout the whole process with each stage explained clearly so we knew what we were waiting for and what was needed from us.

I purchased an investment property through McDougall McQueen.
The original property I looked at had some potentially serious damp issues which I hadn't noticed on the home report and which Andrea Laven drew to my attention. I purchased another more sound property. Susan Oates handled the conveyancing. She was cautious with regards to guarantees on previous alterations made to the property and ensured I was provided with indemnity on these.
The process was very smooth and straightforward. Everything took place in a timely and calm fashion. Communication was excellent with no delays. Very happy with the service and would certainly use again.

This was particularly relevant as the buyer's solicitor made the sale more protracted than necessary by frequent tardy repsonses or non-communication but Susan was politely persistent in getting the transaction over the line.

We bought our first flat with McDougal McQueen. We weren't too familiar with the process at the beginning but the experience has been made very straightforward by their staff. They were very communicative (with us usually waiting only a few minutes before getting a reply to an email). None of our questions were ever left unanswered and they seemed to be tough negotiators with sellers during exchange of missives. We are very happy with their service overall and won't hesitate to use them again in the future.

I was recommended McDougall McQueen by a family friend whilst searching for a legal firm to purchase my first property. Whilst there are numerous options, after speaking initially with Jane Yarrington, I went with McDougall McQueen. This was a wise decision. Even from the first phone call, she detailed everything I needed to know and discussed the market in general and the trends that she was seeing. This was a common theme from everyone I dealt with at the firm, namely Susan Oates and Dot Mullally. Everyone was happy to go above and beyond and provide regular updates on the status of the purchase. The online portal made the document gathering a seamless process. Everything was completed very efficiently within a few months. Furthermore, having benchmarked some other firms, their prices were fair and reasonable. Overall I would highly recommend speaking to the team at McDougall McQueen. They are highly knowledgeable of the market and provide first-class service throughout the process. I would not hesitate to use them again.

The McDougall McQueen team provided a professional and friendly service from end to end through my sale which was complicated by a resident commissioned structural survey report that landed just before going on the market. Susan in particular provided excellent guidance and advice during the conveyancing phase. I'd used the services of the Penicuik office previously before the partnership merger and was pleased the service was as excellent as I remembered it.
