We made the mistake of reading the glowing reviews and reputation of James Sellicks Oakham from their Google reviews. Our experience was at best mediocre. 8 months on the market with a number of viewings and 1 'so called' written offer, we couldn't accept, as the buyer had not sold their property? Despite this unsuccessful outcome, this review is about their lack of professional ability and service.
*There was no initiative to explore additional marketing, which we would have chase after this stagnant position. (I believe they are not on a Social Media Platform or anything similar. But did not offer any suggestions other than sticking with the perfunctory Rightmove etc.
*Despite they attending viewings they would have to chase me when I was on holiday for basic information from buyers -questions - such as:-
*Area/home internet speed, claiming they had somehow done a speed check and it was slow, even though there are numerous ISP giving various packages in the area, which is easily checked by them. I explained I wasn't OpenReach and didn't know what they were talking about.
*How was my house built? (It's a modern house built in 2020). I explained I wasn't the builder and guessed it was 'normal'?
* Amazingly, what was the small box in my drive? that had BT engraved on the lid!
I asked why this happening and shouldn't it be part of their data base info, or just simple common sense?

Their apparent lack of knowledge and interest after 8 months about my house was laughable and crass. They were all very pleasant, which is what one would expect, but that's about it.

We have now moved to another local independent Estate Agent, where we believe a more one to one personal relationship, with more marketing coverage other than Rightmove and hopefully will give us a better result for a much lower fee.

Finally to add insult injury, Sellicks have charged us £420 T&C's Withdrawal Fee, which they conveniently forgot to mention this tiny clause when we signed their agreement and even when we expressed our withdrawal intention latterly……So beware don't make our mistake if you get stuck with agent that's not good at their job!
