Before moving in: 1) "stop calling so much it'll take me a few days to send an email" all we asked was to explain the maths and when just got sent a number to pay. (Literally no info just "Total = £x")
2) changed the time of key collection and we asked for this in writing that the time has been changed. Their manager's response was " why do you need it in writing". Never had an estate agent refuse to give a change in writing and said it would take a few days to send ( they changed the time 20 hours before the collection date so not even 24 hours notice) unprofessional and unorganized.
3) it seems the only person in the entire office who is allowed to do anything is Daniela this was confirmed with a call on 11/07/2023 at 4PM where I asked is Daniela the only one allowed to do anything, Lisa confirmed this is the case which is appalling considering she is always out on viewings
4) looked at reviews for the company, for a team that has no time to help or communicate, a lot of time is spent on Google reviews calling reviews fake and arguing rather than helping actual people who are asking for it
After moving in: 5) firstly inventory was promised upon arrival and was not given until 2 days after move in, and then information was missed (17/07/23)
6) Kept asking for rent even though it was paid before the move in 1 day after the inventory was sent (18/07/23)
7) After being told while sorting the house out that emails take 3-4 days to send, we were sent an email asking to leave a good Google review for a person we spoke to once, so they have spent 4 days to send us an email to leave a review instead of helping other tenants
8) the front door was very broken and was reported 8/9 times by previous tenants and at least 4 times by me, and still nothing done, absolutely useless before and during the tenancy
9) something happened that made me feel unsafe at the property ( will not go into detail ) and they refused to end the contract early due to it being legally binding also after breaking their duty of care which is also legally binding, they told me not to contact people for help and I did anyways and within 1 day we got a response (re-look at number 8 emails take days to write), i got a call saying I am released from the contract and will receive a weeks rent back ( i left at the start so it should be 3 weeks rent ), so after hearing legal action will be taken they got fear struck and did not want to deal with it, nice to know that they would rather get money from vulnerable tenants they have caused issues with than help them be safe.
After leaving:
10) I was told I would get a refund at the same time my deposit came back for the week I didn't stay there due to previous issues, the deposit came back and no refund, emailed to ask what is happening, and I got told someone from accounting has been added to the email chain, when no-one was added!Another update 5 weeks have past and still no update, me and my company are getting ignored, I am certain they would not wait this long to kick someone out if their rent was 5 weeks late , been calling again to try and sort it, met with rude people (LISA from property management) saying she can't deal with it she's not accounts and asking to get transfered or a call back from accounts, being told nope they won't be free I can't see in to the future, 40 days have no passed and no help from anyone about a refund, really getting pissed off at this point, actual children that work at century 21, if you are trying to rent, DON'T GO WITH THESE GUYS, horrible experience I wanted to be done with them in September but we are now approaching November and still having to deal with their incompetent staff.
I absolutely would not recommend 21st century I have been updating this since we had our 3rd - 4th issue with them and honestly am glad that I did, the issues they have caused me and the sheer stress, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THE RISK, feeling ignored, unsafe, used for my money, this company needs to take a long hard look at their structure and respect to their potential tenants / current tenants as it is appalling, it looks as though from other reviews they treat their landlords well so if you're a tenant don't bother and hope this helps the land lords take their property to a good estate agents.
Daniella 4/10, is allowed to sort stuff out but takes ages to respond and cannot handle stress and gets rude when stressed
Lisa from rental management 1/10, really rude that's all I need to say, never had a chat that wasn't an argument with her
Ben 2/10, only spoken to Ben once or twice but seemed to busy to care for the company but always seen him on Google reviews, no care for people
Now before Ben comes and says it's fake, I have proof and of course the names of staff I have mentioned, dates and times.
In all honesty I hope they sell the company and it goes under new management, hopefully they will have a re-look at what is happening and actually become an estate agent and not a time wasting, money taking, JOKE

I hope this review is helpful to some, especially young people moving out for the first time. Sorry it’s so long, but that’s how awful Century 21 is. This company have failed me time and time again. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and bite my tongue because I was so excited to just move out of my family home and gain some independence, I saw everything through rose tinted glasses.
I arrived at my room in my shared accommodation on the 4th of July 2022, where I found dirty skirting boards (literally layers of dirt and dust), cobwebs in every corner, stains on the carpet, a horrible paint job, a bathroom ceiling literally peeling off, a door that doesn’t shut properly, and numerous other things. These are all things that absolutely should’ve been sorted before my tenancy started, but I ignored it, I enjoy cleaning, so I was happy to do that myself. The other things weren’t extreme but just made my living situation a bit dingy considering I was paying £525 a month for a house share with that much wrong with it…
Anyway, I carried on trying to enjoy my tenancy despite these factors, until I became aware of contractors viewing my room without my knowledge, (which is very illegal). Someone let it slip on the phone to me that they had been there while I was at work, nobody had bothered to make me aware of this. I am a 19-year-old girl who very much values my privacy, so to have men in my room without my knowledge made me very uncomfortable. All I got back from Century21 was them shifting the blame to the contractor company. Proceeding this awful experience, I asked Curtis and Ben to contact my landlord to see if I could get my tenancy ended early, as C21 had now broken the contract by letting someone into my room without my knowledge. It took a few weeks for someone to actually be bothered to give me an answer from my landlord, even after me offering to contact them myself, leaving me to pay another month rent when all I wanted to do is be rid of this company and the broken house I lived in.
While I spent my last month in the accommodation there was a tap leak (the tap was broken the whole time I lived there but this was the first time it leaked into cupboards) the leak ruined all the food I had in my cupboards and some kitchen supplies I had in there too. I received no apology for my inconvenience.
During the time my room was being viewed by potential tenants there was a few times people would view my room without my knowledge. I know this because I came home from work once and there were still 2 viewing lefts on the room when I was only aware of one happening that morning (not at 3pm) … For the first viewing that was arranged with myself and one of the team for Saturday 10th September, I didn’t end up being home for the viewing when I said I would be. There was an emergency which meant I had to be elsewhere, however when I told Curtis on the phone that I wasn’t there he sighed at me and explained he didn’t bring any keys to the property, like its my job? When I apologised for this, he cut me off and put the phone down without saying anything. I remember being infuriated at the attitude, but I let it slide because I didn’t want to talk with C21 about anything but my tenancy at this point.
Since leaving the room, C21 have now tried to deduct £55 from my £250 deposit because “there was a stain on the carpet, and the bathroom and bedroom was left very, very dirty”. Anyone who has seen the state of that room when I first moved in can vouch for me that the room was cleaner when I lived in it/after I left than when I first moved in (and the stain was already there, a family member even mentioned it to someone) . Curtis stated in an email prior to my move out date, that the room be cleaned, but only so it’s not in a worse state than what it was when I moved in. I spent an hour cleaning every visible bit in that room, however because I missed a tap, a plug and left a hair on the wall in the shower they feel the need to take £55 off me.
This company is greedy, rude and has absolutely no care for their customers. Century 21 made my first time moving out a miserable one and I wish only bad things for them as it really is one mistake after another with them. I got no sincere apology and probably never will. I’ve worked with customers before so I know exactly what kind of person I seem to them because they will not be able to see how awful they really are. I’m so disappointed with the slow/lack of communication I’ve had with them let alone the contract they broke and tried to blame on someone else.
