WELL!!!! We had paid a huge sum of money for the agency fees so they can sort everything out... this had to be given within 24 hours which we did not have... £500 we had to give!!! Anyway with that sorted we then had to go through the references through let risk which took about a month.
Once everything went through we were told that we will definitely be moving in and that they would be organising us to get the paperwork signed. We called them every couple of weeks to see if there was an update with the paperwork but their answer was always "were just sorting out the last details" so no paperwork was signed yet... a month later we were then told that the paperwork was not finished because they were waiting for us to get tenants insurance.... FINE!!! so we get that sorted and then were told "yes we will get the contracts ready to be signed" and THEN were told 3 weeks before the moving date that we can not move in as the property is being sold, after our offer was accepted... now were back to square 1. GREAT SERVICE
What agent could do to change your mind?
Let us move into the property and have much better communication

Andrews in Abingdon were unprofessional from day 1 of us wishing to rent a property from them. We very often had to chase them or correct them on documents. The day we moved in was a disaster, the house was dirty & was meant to be unfurnished but had so much stuff left in it. We had no end of problems with the property as it was not in good condition and needed a major update. We didn't like the attitude of some of the staff regarding the way they dealt with particular issues. A substantial amount of my deposit was held back for completely unreasonable reasons, I fought this and won my case resulting in the landlord gaining non of it. It's obvious this branch and the landlord are out to get as much money from a tenant as possible and I would never recommend them.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Put more effort into making your furnished accommodation actually furnished. Ensure that all appliances work to a better standard than "almost broken".

My partner and I rented a "furnished" flat in Abingdon. However, there was only one bed for a 2 bed FURNISHED flat and was not cleaned prior to arrival; scuff marks on carpet and walls, mould and stains in shower room, ripped sofas, grime all along the edges of the kitchen cupboards amongst many other faults. There was also an abundance of broken vacuums in the boiler closet as well as junk left from previous tenants.
The hot water had to be fixed twice within a week, there was also an unpleasant smell to the tap water so didn't risk drinking it (had to buy bottles of water every week).
The washing machine should have be replaced a while ago; laundry loads had to be left overnight as it took close to 5 hours to complete, and there was mould underneath the rubber seal of the door. Subsequently, we never had have fresh smelling laundry.
Most of the furniture was outdated, broken or mismatched. There was an unnecessary amount of IKEA wardrobes that we had to dismantle to even have some space to walk around. Also one wardrobe broke before even touching it, almost injuring one of us.
The windows were dirty, covered in spider webs and couldn't be opened easily. They also let in so much noise pollution we could hear people sneezing on the other side of the street.
My partner and I work 10 hours a day and travel back to our families on our days off, so we weren't especially bothered about the state of the flat as we were barely in it. However, the thing that provoked us to write this review was the fact that we were charged a ridiculous amount from our deposit at checkout for "cleaning", "replacing things" "removal of items left" etc...
To be replacing things out of our own pocket for a "furnished" flat when they were already broken, or had broken just a week after we moved in, is wrong. Before we moved out, we cleaned the flat to a better standard than what we got it in. All we left upon moving out was a mattress we bought for the second bedroom which should have be furnished in the first place.
The flat was most definitely not professionally cleaned before we moved in, yet we had to pay £300 for it to be cleaned. Which is why we felt horrified and believe we were just being shaken down for all the money they could get out of us. There was no effort on their part for the upkeep of the flat, yet we were punished for it.

I have had an excellent service with Andrews from beginning to end. Andrews Estates Abingdon have been absolutely fantastic in the sale of my house! Many, many thanks to all the staff who helped. (Switched to Andrews 28th Jan, Offer on my house accepted on the 11th Feb, sale completed on 27th March! - Beat that! :-))
I currently live in Australia which is why I was selling my house. Prior to switching to Andrews Estates I had been using one of the other main agents from November through to January as they were cheaper. However, decided to switch to Andrews as there due to the complete lack communication from my first agent. Andrews was significantly better when it came to communication and I found their web interface very useful.
Luke Higgins from (Andrews Abingdon office) was able to secure me an offer in a week and get the offer up to an amount that I accepted within two weeks.
Laura Hilsdon then took over the management of the sale was able to push (and I mean PUSH!) the completion on the sale in just 6 weeks!
All in all Andrews got me the sale before 4th April 2015 which was extremely important for tax/capital gains reasons but also very ambitious.
While I was very pleased to get an offer so soon after switching. The real value of the service Andrews Estates provides became apparent after the offer was actually accepted. Agreeing a price is very definitely only the start of the process.
Laura managed to do a great deal on my behalf including: - Organising two sets of solicitors and the buyers. Due to the time difference it would have been difficult and time-consuming from Australia. - Spending a huge amount of time chasing up my solicitor for me to get answers to my questions. - Sorting out a problem with a water leak that had developed in the property that could have derailed the sale by facilitating an independent agreement between me and my buyer. - Sending regular email updates (Daily towards the end). Very important given that I am an extremely neurotic individual. -Translating my emails into actions on the ground. (Vital for those of use who have an 11hour time difference to contend with) - Tolerating my relentless questions, worries, etc
Without the tireless efforts and extreme patience of Laura (who quite frankly deserves some kind of medal for getting things in on time and putting up with my constant phone calls) and her colleagues there is not a chance this would have gone through before my deadline.
I sincerely doubt I would have been given the same level of commitment from my first agent or many of the other agents in Abingdon.
In conclusion: I would definitely recommend Andrews and Laura. They may not offer the lowest percentage but they definitely offer the best value for money and work for every penny of it right up until completion.

I have used Andrews for about the last two to three years and have had an absolutely excellent service from them. Katie Finch is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. They also provide an extremely detailed inventory with photographs which is emailed to me. I had not had that service before. They are easy to contact and I have never had a problem with them. I really do wish I had used them before.

However, I need not have worried as Katie and her team found me the most amazing tenants, the rent is always paid on time without fail and the tenants treat the property as if it were their own, keeping it as clean and tidy as I did. Throughout the whole process Andrews were courteous, professional and a true delight to deal with. Having not let a property out before they took the time and care to explain the process to me from start to finish, I couldn't fault their customer service and I would defiantly recommend Andrews Abingdon to anyone.

I used Andrews to let out my flat. I had never done this before and it wasn't by choice that I was letting out my flat. Andrews were very helpful and offered great advice! Katie is especially helpful! They found me a lovely tenant and quickly too. When I finally sold my flat, they were quick and helpful at sorting out the tenant and transferring them over to a new agency, even with less than a weeks notice! We were badly let down by our first Agent and wasted 3 months with them. A change to Andrews proved much more active and ultimately successful. The house was more widely marketed and attracted 8 viewings. These were conducted by Andrews' staff so we had less to concern us. After each viewing we received immediate feedback which,in turn, led to modifications to improve the appeal of the house.It was sold in September and we relocated in December 2011.The whole process was well run and we were kept fully informed throughout. I would like to make a special mention of the Office Administrator Pat Crews who managed the paperwork and made this aspect of the process very simple and easy. Thanks Pat! We found that all the staff we dealt with were pleasant and knowledgeable. We would not hesitate to recommend this branch to others seeking to sell a property in the Abingdon area.

When the recent sale stalled, the staff (most notably Pat Crews) dived into the mess, negotiating with both solicitors, and the local council and surveyors. I trust them all, and the email traffic and regular phone calls helped keep me abreast of proceedings, and pending decisions. Top job, resulting in one very happy customer.

The marketing of the property was also excellent along with the friendly, helpful and caring manner when communicating given by the staff at the branch. There were hiccups along the way on our onward purchase that were stressful but Andrews helped where possible to calm our fears and reassure us that it would be resolved and they where. They went the extra mile to assist us in dealing with these issues when they arose.
I would have no hesitation in using them again. Thanks again to all the team at the branch.
