International Landlords; Never Ever use Foxtons to Rent or Manage your Property! Foxtons Chelsea totally mismanaged my property, they made unauthorized deductions every month, sent a different sum every month, (after collecting 100% of their fees up front), never on time, eventually failing to collect rent at all and then claiming that 'there was nothing they could do'. They refused to send any correspondance with the tenant and basically lost interest once the initial fees were paid. The most unprofessional service I have ever encountered in 37 years as a landlord.

I am the tenant and they treated me extremely bad. They made promises such as painting the apartment before I moved in and taking off some furniture and when i moved in they lied said that they never assured me anything. Even though on the phone and in person they did multiple times. The landlord didn’t know any of the assurances they made me. They also attempted to put the house back in the market after i payed the deposit and rent in advance by telling me i have one day to sort out my references. There was a fault in the system and my reference did not pass and they lied saying: “what fault” when they said there was. i worked with one of the managers and an agent and despite the promises they didn’t keep and lies, the manager was extremely rude to me. Lying at my face and and screaming at the phone.i really don’t recommend. When i moved in i asked if it was okay to come at 8 am a week before and i got a text on saturday (i was moving the upcoming monday) that i can’t move in until 12:30. I payed the moving company already and i could not change it and they said they never agreed and that’s just how it is. Felt awful to be played around and they are making you feel like you are the bad person. They only cares about pleasing the landlord and money and not the tenant.

Never ever ever again. These agents use outsourced checking firms called Let Alliance that ‘verify’ tenants for the landlords. We have now an eviction on our hands while this great firm Let Alliance have still not checked the original documents from a bankrupt client who hasn’t paid rent since April. Then you have to chase them daily to basically get nothing back but aggravation. In the meantime they have gobbled up commissions of 11 percent of sales from Feb to feb 24 - and won’t give it back… even though the tenants haven’t paid. Absolutely horrific and all landlords need to avoid FOXTONS.

The lack of professional integrity and level of disorganisation at this company is astonishing.
Foxtons rented out a flat to me with a boiler that was located inside the bath/shower, as well as black mould in the bathroom and faulty fire alarms. As I am a newcomer to the UK, I was concerned but Foxtons assured me this was all safe.
However, the gas safety regulatory authority, the local council, and even the boiler manufacturer each told me this was a serious electrical hazard. The gas safety regulatory authority urged me not to use the bath/shower until the boiler was moved (this was a one bedroom flat). I ended up having to find another flat that was safe to live in, but Foxtons put the unsafe flat back onto the market immediately without any changes to the boiler - I hope the new tenants are safe.
Foxtons will also tell you to always raise your offer but that is because they will make more in commission.
Even though this is a small office, this office is incapable of scheduling their own viewings and appointments, resulting in double bookings and no-shows.
I worked with Foxtons Sloane Square, specifically Chris Fowles-O’Brien, who repeatedly failed to keep appointments and demonstrated little interest in my safety as a tenant once I raised my concerns.
I am relieved to say I will never work with Foxtons again.

Be warned!!
The worst. Foxtons are deceitful, dishonest, unresponsive, and arrogant. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. We dealt with Harold Amis and his unresponsive manager, Lisa.

Foxton s rental! Beware be warned!!! 6 months later nothing has been done. Lame excuse through the agents and clearly they have no intention of pressurising the landlord to uphold her contractual requirements. I have had tomoay for lawyers etc. And the other flat owners around say this is what the landlady does in the appartment “ runs down the clock” and doesn’t do anything but keeps the money and Foxtons enable her to do that, as clearly from the feedback from The other flats in the building this is how her behaviour is.
Don’t use them as you might well end up in the same predicament even if written into the tenancy agreement. Clearly if I say I won’t allow access to do other works until she upholds the temwmscey contract they then come down heavy on me with threats!!!BEWARE !!!!

They've agreed to let us go but we'd have to pay one month's more rent, even though we stayed for 15 days only, we'd ve agreed as we had to leave the UK, 2 months later, I've received a claim from the council tax. FOXTONS told them we left the property the first days of December which was not true, anyway I paid the council fees and started to claim back the overpaid 15 days rent because these people also charged the new tenants for a month. How is this even legal? The agents are not genuine and not willing to solve any tenancy dispute, by March I've been told that a refund of £705,12 will be processed back to me, I've sent my bank details, but then haven't heard anything, the agent was never available nor reply my messages, then another agent promised to refund me and again...NOTHING, a few days later the agent said "Your bank details have been passed on to the accounts team, however, funds are currently not available on the landlords to account to process this.

As this is a matter between yourself and the landlord We had been chasing the landlord for an update but unfortunately, he will not send the money.
I understand that this is not the answer that you will be hoping for, however, at this point, I can only advise that you seek independent advice to recoup the funds"
Seriously? What’s the point of renting through an agency then?
Being one of the largest estate agency companies, Foxtons is unbelievably negligent and incompetent.
Please STAY AWAY from Foxtons, unless you want a distressing painful experience that we are facing.

They do not care about their tenants moving in to to a flat that is not up to the minimum basic standards and law requirements of safety and just basic usability of the property....
I have seen how thoroughly Knight Frank made sure that both prior to me and my wife moving in absolutely everything was working properly whereas Foxtons is all nice talk prior to you signing the contract and paying the money and once that is done you are on your own to fend for yourself and discover everything wrong with your flat...
Me and my pregnant wife have been in this new property for a month now and because of their carelessness we have been exposed to over 10 issues that none have been resolved anything from Showers, to dishwasher, to freezers, unsafe fuse boxes etc that we discover every time they send a technician over which by now at least over 15 different people have been in here...
Point is they are simply irresponsible of making sure that where you and your family are about to move into is properly assessed for basic standards!!!
and when you complain its pretty much well this is what we can do im sorry take it or pretty much fix it yourself...
There must be laws to protect us tenants against such practices, I am looking for legal advice if anyone can recommend any good lawyers it would be helpful.

We decided on a property and put down an offer, we paid £6600 for deposit and first month rent and we sent all the required document and they come to us after 20 days that the landlord didn't signed the contract and the deal is not valid anymore as decided to sell the flat. We aksed several times about the signed contract and we've been told it's all securend and to have no worries on this. The move to the new flat supposed to be in a week from this notice and we've made all the utility movement requests and we booked also the van for this

move (non refundable). Of course we will have the one to pay for all these and not Foxtons. After two days from this notification we still have not received our money back. Weird enough the property is still posted on their webside and looks let available. This is just a scam that Foxton is using. Horrible experience. To not mentioned that they have this MyFoxton platform and you have to do all the work yourself (feels Iike I have been their employee and spent few hours with all the updates and uploades they asked for).

I would strongly recommend international clients considering renting a short term property in London to avoid renting from Foxtons. We have rented a flat in Chelsea for 2 months and the experience was terrible as they are extremely unreasonable upon check out. You will be faced with an enormous list of unreasonable charges at the end of your short term let with no room for discussion. The more you argue, the more they increase the charges without any reasonable explanation - it is really shocking. We have accidentally damaged the carpet of one single step in the entry hall and they are requesting that we change the entire staircase for nearly £1,000 which is a charge at least 10 times higher than quotations we have independently obtained. Their argument is that the landlord lost the reference of the carpet and now needs to change the entire staircase. We find this extremely unreasonable as we are being penalized for the fact the landlord has not kept the reference for the carpet. This is especially outrageous as we have found ourselves an excellent match which would resolve the issue for a fraction of the price without causing any aesthetic problems.

I had to wait two months to get my deposit back because "they couldn't get an answer from the landlord". They are so unprofessional. I will never use them again and advice anyone who is thinking about it to go somewhere else.

After a short term letting ,left the flat cleaner that I found it and return the keys to the agency myself in person ! Waited for my £700 deposit to be returned but instead I received a bill stating as it follows :
Minus £165 cleaning (again,left it cleaner that I found it)

This accusation that I have stolen the duvet cover is simply outrageous ,they are pointing me that I am thief when they are the real and lowest thieves ever !!!
If you think that there is no reason for them to stop your deposit think again !! They will definitely improvise something ,as they did in my case and with many others as well !

I let out my flat through Foxtons. Let's just say it was a very unpleasant experience. They provided the tenants the keys to the flat before making sure the tenants signed the edited tenancy agreement which I have signed already. I let out my flat through Foxtons. Let's just say it was a very unpleasant experience. They provided the tenants the keys to the flat before making sure the tenants signed the edited tenancy agreement which I have signed already. They did not even bother making sure why the tenancy agreement sent to the tenants were never returned to them either....they were not aware of this as well until I asked for it.....and this was just the beginning....

Had a bad experience when dealing with the contract issue in urgent. The staff were really rude and not helpful. And her poor attitude reflected her professional aspect. What agent could do to change your mind?
I think most of the aspects are quite good. It is understandable that sometimes some of employees are not satisfactory -- which related to their personal manner and attitude, as I\'m a HR therefore I kindly suggest to re-evaluate some of staffs who doesn\'t have good feedback too many

Had a bad experience when dealing with the contract issue in urgent. The staff were really rude and not helpful. And her poor attitude reflected her professional aspect. The contract was mainly about extension (which was a good thing to the landlord) and wished it can be extended before the tenant leaving UK for a 1 month business trip , there were no delay issue because the extension reques t was made 2 months ahead, however she couldn't even contact with the landlord effectively, about the date of extension and blamed the tenant that should managed the time and it was not her responsibility to take care of it --- which made me wondered such attitude could really be appropriate manner that a professional adult should have. Now I decide to not use Foxton anymore, even though other staffs were nice. This was truly disappointed one
