Countywide with the emphasis on the first syllable are the single worst letting agent I have experienced living in Scotland. Their inadequacies and failures throughout my short lease have been more numerous than copies sold worldwide of 50 shades of grey . I’d rather replace my eye make up remover with sriracha the ever let with them again. Like you I read the bad reviews, but optimistic and desperate for right move to stop emailing me more than my mum I signed the lease. From the moment I stepped through the door I realised that there was not enough sage in the Paxo stuffing factory to cleanse this property. It was, and excuse the legal jargon here a pigging sh*thole. It was filthy, food bits stuck to the freezer , blue tack on all the walls, dust and tiger print bedsheets left which would make even Carol Baskin blush. Countrywide in all fairness sent around the same cleaning company who had messed up the first time four days later to clean again. Cheers lads, I’ll just go and roll around on the floor of the toilet in Weatherspoon’s so I can really revel in existing in other people’s dirt until then. Our flat was unfurnished so they only had to get the absolute basics right, yet we were provided with only 23% of door handles, curtain poles which couldn’t sustain the weight of a dead moth and carpets in which I have a monobrow thicker than. The gas wasn’t working for the first two weeks of living in the property which meant the oven didn’t work, no heating and we were subjected to getting better acquainted with the philosophy of Wim Hoffman’s cold showers than I would ever would have liked. We were just running water and not sh*tting in a bucket better off than the experience of camp mates on I’m a celebrity. We asked for reduction in our rent yet were refused. When we eventually were blessed with gas the shower screamed constantly like it had been possessed with the ghost of an of an out of tune Whitney Houston. It took forever to get fixed. Countrywide recognised this frustration and deducted £100 of our rental payment , between the three of us , which even if I paid myself the hourly rate of a Victorian shoe shine boy did not even begin to compensate for the amount of hours of admin spent emailing to get these problems resolved. Once we had campaigned for, overseen and project managed the renovation of the flat , it was fine but the problems should never have occurred in the first place. Were there some friendly, competent seeming people who worked there, who I’m genuinely grateful for there help? Sure but overall are they capitalist money thieving b*st*rds? Abso-f*cking-lty , J beibs may have us believe ‘never say never’ but if he shared my experience I’m sure he’d caveat that with never let from countrywide. Don’t do it to yourself you deserve better hun xoxo

Moved out over a month ago and still waiting for my deposit back, Countrywide has called my land lady and she is happy to release all of my deposit back. Which is good to hear. Countrywide even said I'll get it back with in 3-5 days after 2.5 weeks, it's now 9 days since then. In total its 33 days... Read Full Review

Rented a flat through Countrywide Residential Lettings in Oxford. When I arrived the day we checked-in (moved in), to find no cleaning had been done (rubbish in the bin, toilet had not been cleaned and smelt like a public toilet, carpet hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed, food on the plates etc). ...
