This was a 5-star review, because we were asked to make one before we moved into the flat. This also explains why there are so many five-star reviews of Foxtons, and of *removed agent name. Agent: removed due to threats (Putney office) Property Manager: removed due to threats (head office) This is going to be a long post. Foxtons are renting us a flat with a bedroom floor so rotten our bed's leg BROKE THROUGH THE FLOOR. We have BLACK MOULD covering the floor under the carpet and visual on the panels and windows, making us very sick with bloody noses, scratchy throats and headaches. Foxtons have had a month to fix this but have done nothing, despite it being their responsibility. They have also made it clear that we are not their costumer, but their costumers' tenants. They won't fix the issue, despite it being in clear violation with UK health regulations and they won't give us advice on how to deal with it. We have now put The Environmental Health Department on the case and they were APPALLED by the state of the flat. All this meaning we are forced into a situation by Foxtons where we have to spend time and money on court proceedings, because they are unwilling to take action. DO NOT LET FROM THEM. Other issues and breaches of contract: - First day we come into flat the lounge is flooded and flat smells of mould (separate issue to the one mentioned above). - Broken tiles in the bathroom. Rotten wood behind them. - Very bad communication from Foxtons about everything. - Rodent infestation they will not sort out (we have been given 20GBP to buy traps and they want us to clean out rodent droppings endangering our health for an issue that should have been resolved before we moved in). - Ceiling lights flickering since we moved in. According to Environmental Health department it can be a fire hazard. - Lied to us about issues with flat before we moved in (said there were no pests in the flat and no other issues. We have also found a bottle of poison for flees and mites). - Rotten windows, which are broken and have drafts coming through them. We have been severely hurt from opening them. - Flat wasn't professionally cleaned as stated in our contract. - Many appliances not working. - FOXTONS GAVE OUR KEYS OUT TO BUILDER WITHOUT OUR CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE! - Ignoring our emails. - A lot of bulky trash in the flat. The first issue on the list: We get the keys and go to the flat. It smells foul when we enter. Turns out there has been GUSHING water from the ceiling in the flat for probably a week. Foxtons tell us to put some buckets up and they will deal with it later in the week. After seeing the posted video, they realized the severity of the issue. They sent out a contractor, who gave up and called the fire brigade. The fire brigade came by that evening, and after seeing the severity of the issue, also gave up, shut off electricity and left. We had no electricity for 3 days. It took +2 weeks to get the mouldy carpet out, 3 weeks to paint, and we had many fights to get this done. The lights are still not fixed, and we currently have empty holes in the ceiling where they should be. We had to sort everything out ourselves, doing our Property Manager's job for him. Furthermore, we were instructed to leave windows wide open (or at least the ones that could open) as well as the door to the room, so it could "air out" because they were too cheap to buy a dehumidifier to dry the room. All of this with a soaking wet mouldy smelling carpet. This made the flat freezing cold and spread moisture throughout the rest of the flat. This was in October. Not a time where you would usually have the windows open 24/7. There is no chance that a room is going to dry if you leave a soaked wall to wall carpet in there, especially this time of year. We also learned that Foxtons were aware of the issue before we moved in. I really hope that this will help You and keep You away from renting from Foxtons. For us it is too late Update: we have given up and are moving out after 1 year. They started fixing it after half a year but other problems and bad behavior started piling up not long after.

Unfortunately stereotypical estate agents.
Wouldn't disclose why I failed my tenancy applications; they blamed the reference company. Horrible rental and lettting process
From agent to property managers and agency management they will sing the same song.
Ask for a printed version of your contract you ever sign, hidden clauses appear on their short online version.
They hide under emails and don't put you in touch with the landlord but they blame them for their unprofessional way of dealing with customers.
If you do not want to be a PRISONER of DISREPAIRS do not rent with them. When you want to exit, there are pnety of contractual clauses and commissions they will show you to put you off and be afraid to say and put up in living with disrepars.
Outrageous! Shame!

Really terrible customer and human service. Upon arriving to Foxton office on the day of the viewing, I was professionally welcomed, offered a lovely warm drink and taken to view a couple of nice flats according to my search descriptions. 90 minutes later I was making an offer to rent one of the flats.

I have had an extremely horrendous experience with foxtons. They are very unorganised and unavailable. My state agent disappeared after we had put down the security deposit and signed the contract. We tried to contact him several times but couldn't get through. After that we had to make some changed to our tenancy which foxtons was not helpful with at all. They would not give us any information regarding it unless we called them ourselves. Overall terrible and extremely lazy staff!! Will definitely never be using them again.

That was the worst experience I have been through after living in London for 10 years. This company is so disrespectful and disonesty. I have a family and after handing the 6 weeks deposit, signing the contract and giving the documents they had another offer higher then mine and decided to undo the deal with me after I declined another flat that I liked to stay with them. No integrity, no trust, not professional, I could just not believe that was happening with such well known company. Completely shame.

Nicholas is the Shorts Let Negotiator that my son and his other student friends were dealing with for this tenancy. As the guarantor for my son's part in the process I dealt with Nicholas. At all times he was polite and friendly. I had a few problems with the short notice for documents - the short notice was not due to anything that Nicholas did or didn't do - Nicholas suggested alternatives and it was all settled within a day. The move was urgent and Nicholas was doing his best to get it all sorted. The boys got the keys on time and were able to move smoothly across. I believe that they had good service from Nicholas as well. A real break from the agent and agency they dealt with last year. I trust that Nicholas will continue his excellent care throughout the year.

Gary was excellent at very rapidly identifying the fears and insecurties of a couple who were about to sell their flat remotely from Nepal and addressing those insecurities and fears very reassuringly! I work in the hospitality industry and totally admire this asses. Although our first offer was pulled out , we felt a sense of confidence with Gary.
We have gone full circle with Foxtons from renting the flat to then buying it and living in it and then letting it and finally selling it. All phases of the cycle have been very good especially the sale bit has been fantastic. So a big thank you to Katherine and Cameron for their amazing customer service during the sale of the flat as well. If we ever plan on selling a flat in the UK again, it will be with Foxtons ( East Putney Foxtons !)

I was tricked into signing a contract quickly, mostly by Miles Rudland. The flat was firstly 10 days late, so we signed a new contract. I was tricked into signing a contract quickly, mostly by Miles Rudland. The flat was firstly 10 days late, so we signed a new contract. Finally, with the shiny key in my hand I was sent to a new home that wasn't even nearly finished in construction. Couldn't move in, had my movers on their way, a nightmare. The landlord said he hadn't even given permission to let the place that day. Absolutely disgusting business, inhumane. All the nice things these people fake to your face flush quickly down the toilet, as they really couldn't care less about anything but getting your money - at any cost.

Worst experience possible. Moved out of the property 1.5 months before the agreed end of tenancy because we purchased a flat. Worst experience possible. Moved out of the property 1.5 months before the agreed end of tenancy because we purchased a flat. We decided not to clean the apartment until the end of the tenancy, when we had the flat professionally cleant, not with one of the clearners offered by Foxtons.
A couple of weeks before the agreed end of the tenancy, and without informing us, Foxtons ordered the exit inspection to take place. Since the apartment was not clean, the report came out with several issues that had a direct financial impact on us, and our deposit.The exit report included lies such as "window key is room is missing". When I went to the apartment after reading the exit report, the key was there and from that point onwards it was a battle to fight each one of the allegations.
Things got worse when the report for the entry inspection for the new tenants took place. Foxtons considered the apartment was not clean enough and had ordered for another professional cleaner to come in withot notifying anything to us. The report still said that the window key was missing! I decided to visit the new tenants to understand what was going on and it soon became aparent that Foxtons was play us both. For example, they told the new tenants that the landlord was offering a cleaning service that was already paid for but never took place (the same cleaning that they then charged us). And of course, when I mentioned that I had spoken with the new tenants they very angrily said that we had no right to bother the new tenants of the property. Of course, so they can continue to lie and take advantage of everyone! Foxtons, never again.
I am not a property owner loowing to let the property out. Guess what, Foxtons is the only agency I don't even consider working with.

We would like to make a compliment and a big thank you to Matthew whom, during our property search, had been doing everything possible to negotiate with the Landlords to secure a property for us to rent, given our requirements.
We first met Matthew over two years ago whom was instrumental in securing the flat we are currently renting, but we only really got to know him more since we started looking for another flat to rent in the later part of last year. Matthew got things actioned straight away by getting Olly to help us with our property search.
It goes without saying that Matthew is very professional as we knew him to be almost two years ago. We were registered with every agent in Putney then and Matthew was the one who was most helpful and proactive in helping us find a rental property.
Matthew is very kind, reliable, honest, and trustworthy. He worked tireless and with great effort and relentless to secure rental properties for us. Matthew in no doubt will always be successful to every level and he is an asset to Foxtons. He is totally loyal as he is to his clients, and achieves to get the very best for them, and for all parties involved.
