An unpleasant experience dealing with Dixons Harborne. We took measures to purchase a property that, it turned out, had already been sold. On investigation it turned out we were used as leverage to force the other party to exchange, incurring significant costs in the process. The agency claimed to have not been aware, however correspondence recorded on their own CRM (system) indicated otherwise, that the "previously interested, no longer involved party" had in fact expressed continued interest and intended to exchange the whole time.
This information was never communicated to us by the agency, and we were none the wiser until a full fortnight after the fact, when they exchanged beneath us, seemingly (but not actually) out of nowhere. After a meeting with the buyer, we discovered that their offer had never been off the table, and that the agency and the sellers' solicitors had been contacting them daily to force the exchange through.
If Dixons had been transparent with the information they knew, we would never have made an offer on the property, let along incurred costs under the pretence that we might have been able to make the exchange.
Further to this, we mystery shopped another apartment several weeks later, only to discover that that was *also* sold, and we were advised that we should rush to exchange in order to beat the other purchasers out of their sale.
Not illegal, but extremely underhanded and makes a mockery of agents that act in good faith and on behalf of potential purchasers.
A wholly unpleasant experience, so much so that even if our dream home came up on Dixons' books, we would avoid.

Having lived in the property since March. Five days before Christmas we are left with damp and mould in the master bedroom and the kitchen. Discussion with the previous tenant made us aware that Dixons had rented the property previously and were aware of the issues. It even took about 4 months to get the front door replaced, despite the fact the issues with the door effectively placed one of us under house arrest. We still have issues with mice.

I decided to use Dixons to sell my property following a meeting with Sarah when viewing a property I was considering purchasing. Once the process had commenced I did find that I only had confidence in Sarah as opposed to other members of staff. I felt she was professional as well as putting you at ease and listening to her show prospective buyers around my property she took the time to get to know the property and the clients needs she was dealing with. She was always punctual for viewings. The property sold within a few weeks of being on the market which I feel was down to Sarah ( and the fact I have a nice home!) At the time I used Dixons I feel the Harborne branch was really the face of Sarah.

They were overly pushy on offers that we did not want to accept - and we have been proven right to not accept them as higher offers subsequently came in. The sales process was a little painful and Dixons did not manage it as well as they might, although once my wife started working closely with them things began to move better. We put three flats on the market with them. This first one has now sold but the other two are progressing (I think) slowly but again could be managed a bit harder.

Sarah understood my plight and came to my rescue and helped me reverse my idea and ended up in purchasing the property of which I am now the proud owner Sara;s approach in the entire process is highly commendable .Sarah is always very polite and a good listener and successfully negotiated the sale ,making sure the same mistake is not repeated by the seller this time. What agent could do to change your mind?
1. She would have actually turned up to our initially appointment.
2. She wouldn\'t have organised several groups to attend a viewing at the same time, leaving us to turn up to a house that was already signed.
3. She wouldn\'t have been so rude and tried to imply it was our fault that she didn\'t turn up when it was clearly just because she couldn\'t be bothered.

Dixons have been utterly incompetent when dealing with us. We arranged a viewing of a property to rent and the agent, Emma, didn't bother turning up. We called the office who were unable to contact to her, so she had clearly just gone home.
Despite this we were keen and decided to arrange another viewing. This time the agent was there but she had arranged for 3 groups to come at the same time. By the time we arrived one of the groups had already paid the holding fee meaning we couldn't see the house.
When we asked her why she didn't bother turning up she was rude and claimed it was our fault because we hadn't confirmed the appointment, despite being up since 6am and having received no phone call to confirm. She argued that we must have given the wrong number, however the office had had no issue contacting us so this was a lie. She was totally unapologetic and claimed that they were unwilling to waste time turning up to unconfirmed appointments. Apparently they are fine with us wasting our time by turning up to view a house that has already been signed though!
