Newton were great, they were very responsive to emails and calls, and when I needed work replacing white goods in the flat they were very prompt and professional about it. Very fair on deposit repayment too.

I am fortunate enough to be up to date with my bills. Their bills have been really high months though & several neighbours have not been able to pay from my understanding.
Newton decided to send a letter saying that some of my neighbours have been unable to pay. They are now going to take legal action against my neighbours and they cant get money.... myself and the others that paid will be responsible to pay at a later date.
Let me be clear. Newton would rather send the "cant pay we will take it away" to people instead of reducing costs.
Specifically:
Linda Thomson, Lewis Littlejohn, Catherine Flanagan, Mellisa McGirr.
These people would rather take legal action against struggling people than find ways to cut costs. I have suggested ways and they ignore me. They have suggested nothing to me. They have also never considered it as an option. They have only considered:
1. Legal action 2. Making others pay (punishing the ones who follow their rules) 3. Increasing the float (more bills... thats how to fix it)
Anyway. Your punishment is having the job you have. Enjoy taking my neighbours TV's hahaha.

This company loves to ignore as many emails as possible, I suspect they have an internal competition on who can ignore more emails per day.
I set up a DD 2 years ago, but they never changed the amount, I had no way to change it myself, I was expecting they were on top of it like the previous factor I had. I set it up so I didn’t had to worry, but I was so incredibly wrong. Last autumn (around October) they informed me I had a debit with them and automatically duplicated my DD. I asked what could be done to avoid such increase of DD, I got vague answers and they generally ignored my query.
So I cancelled the DD and started paying monthly via their online system.
They decided that it was not good enough, they wanted the full payment, and they sent me a final notice.
I replied to the final notice and ask an up to date calculation and to reinstate the DD. That was the 11 of December. They successfully ignored all my 3 emails and today they sent me a letter saying that they “now require to consider sending my details to a third party collection agency”. I immediately made the full payment and sent a 4th email asking (I should start begging at this point) to reinstate the Direct Debit.
I have no hope the DD will be reinstated, if I am lucky they will just ignore me but accept the payment, there is a possibility they will also ignore my payment at this point.
If you are looking for a reliable factor, search elsewhere. They are not reliable nor professional.

Beware Scammers!
I've updated this review to counter balance the impression this company gives by responding 'positively' to any negative reviews. It implies that they will resolve your grievance, however the truth is they are only concerned with their public image that's where their genuine efforts end.
I have been fobbed off that many times by this company there is now no point engaging. They are only interested in one thing your money.
If you are not already with them the way they entice your business is by undercutting any existing factor and promising the Earth, they will go the extra mile at that point to secure your business. Don't be fooled it's a false dawn.
They will keep to their original under estimated monthly debit however you will find your debt slowly rising with them as it wasn't an accurate assessment. When you raise this you get their song and dance about rising costs and inflation.
They are keen to plead their case during this incredibly tough time and happy to ignore your concerns, although they have good propaganda on their web site stating they will reach out to customers, helping them.
Don't believe it your account will end up with their debt recovery team.
In addition to the slowly increasing monthly charges from their enticement rate you have non cyclic charges for various projects, nearly everything goes into this category. This has happened to me twice with an unexpected bill of £500 (approximately) each time.
I've been trying to get to the bottom of these 'additional' charges. Once satisfied they are actual legitimate would have settled the bill. However the break down of the fees provided simply don't add up. After refusing until I get the information they doubled my direct debit which I've just cancelled.
They don't care about their customers and treat them as sources of cash flow. I've sent dozens of emails and have kept their promises to do what's needed for over a year now, but again all false promises.
In order to balance my finances, I've asked for over a month now and sent several emails requesting a 5-10 year building plan with forecast works and estimated costs. Again ignored they have no incentive to honour these requests as they will get their money anyway.
In addition to this they don't scrutinise essential works and are content to do jobs without proper oversight and then pass on the bill. I would use the term 'management' very loosely when describing this company. A shambolic disgrace but which factor in Glasgow isn't.
The cruelest thing about this company is they present well but reputation is everything and with their falling review scores the truth is now getting out.

In addition they are invoicing a prepayment ( fabric) fund without owners sanction or adequate specification. They have failed to insist on proper authorisation. ( no provision in deeds). Failed to insist on proper authorisation have given one individuals opinion preference.

I’ve found Newton to be professional and extremely easy to deal with.
My Property Manager (John Hempstead) in particular, is resolutely focused on using his, evidently abundant experience and skill set; in creating a seamless buffer between factor and owner.
His management of contractors suitability, reliability and overseeing of tasks, affords owners great peace of mind.
John is cautious in his approach to delivering the best service; whilst being mindful of associated costs for owners.
His levels of communication and accessibility are first rate and he has such a pleasant and helpful attitude. Clearly a valuable assets to Newton.

Next to come back to me is Mr Littlejohn who instead of replying to customers concerns continually backs AMC Landscapes who are the most unprofessional in the business. AMC destroys daffodils barely out of bloom and cuts shrubs when they are in flower . Accounts 50 weeks on from takeover residents fail to get their final balance trying to find out questions on your constitutional rights is like asking the FBI NPM are taking instructions from an Unconsituted committee . The WSS bares no reseblance to the needs of our Estate One word sums up NPM USELESS

One contacted actually had a key for entry into our building even though we have a secure entry system to be used by visitors to the building. The two men I spoke to were rude and offensive. Both refused to give me their superior’s name. Which I found on the internet anyway. One spoke over me, the other actually hung up on me and accused me of doing it to him. Telling lies. I could go on but not enough space. Sadly this factor was not chosen by our development but took over from our previous one when they went out of business. I cannot believe how Factors like this are allowed to continue operating. All they want is your money.

We rented a flat from Newton based at Port Dundas for 10 month. It was a beautiful Mackintosh Mansion flat and we had the best service of Charlene who was dealing with us. Even minor issues were attended to immediately and once we left and cleaned the flat, we got our full deposit back too.

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed).
