Going through the process of renting a property through Barbers was not a pleasant experience. We found the contact, Jenny, to be unhelpful, totally lacking in empathy, with extremely poor customer service. Every time we phoned we were made feel like we were just a nuisance and had to chase to get the agent to ring us back. However, whilst renting, the property management manager was excellent and the end of tenancy process wasn’t too torturous. I would not recommend renting a property through Barbers Market Drayton.

I gave him set parameters of what I was looking for which I knew was a big ask but he was professional and managed expectations. Sean sent me links to properties in Market Drayton and the surrounding areas advertised by Barbers, giving me an idea of what was to be expected with viewings starting around November. I had viewed a few properties and Sean obviously took the feedback well as the property I eventually bought, he had booked me a viewing for it the day it came on the market! Perfect! Julie made the purchasing process far more straightforward than it seemed, whilst I let them do the work until the day I collected the keys

Regarding Gail Furnival - Barbers
Just over 3 years ago we decided to move back up North from beautiful Wiltshire due to my Mother being ill and wanting to be closer to our family
Our home in Wiltshire was a 19c Coaching Inn which my husband had spent 9 years renovating and substantially increased the value
We put it on the market and it was sold on the first day, to the first viewers for more than the asking price as we had so much attention and it was clear it would sell quickly
However this put us in a precarious situation as we had not even started looking for a new home
We managed to clear our Mortgage with the sale meaning we were cash buyers
The challenge was finding a property we desired , it was proving to be very difficult and we were running out of time
Having registered with various Estate Agents in Shropshire ( our choice of County ) it was through this that I first encountered Gail Furnival at Barbers, from the instance she spoke with me and listened to our requirements, she was just incredible, always taking calls, organising viewings as I had to come up and spend a few days at a time viewing the properties
The pressure was on and it was becoming clear we were not going to find the right place in the time frame we had as we had committed to moving in December 2015
Gail suggested we buy a property that needed fully refurbishing as she knew my husband was a quality self Builder and we could re sell in a couple of years once we found what we were after in the local countryside as a final home
So we did, we purchased a 4 bed in Market Drayton and moved in on the December 2015, with the complete attention to detail from Gail Furnival who ensured everything went smoothly
The house took 2 years to completely gut it and totally refurbished every room with new bathrooms and kitchen, floors , walls and new beautiful layout in a smart contemporary fashion
February 2018 we decided to put it up for sale as we wanted a final project and home in the local countryside as we had always planned again being Cash Buyers
We had no hesitation in contacting Gail Furnival to sell the house for us , Gail was delighted with the renovation and valued it to a superb standard and cost
Sadly during the same time my husband fell seriously ill and everything changed overnight
Gail and her team were extremely supportive as we explained we had to change our plan
It made more sense to downsize and ensure we were in a house I could manage my husbands treatment as it was going to be long and extremely distressing for all involved and another large project house was not suitable
We decided to move closer to my fanily so I had support , out of the Market Drayton and to the outskirts of Cheshire
Gail was completely on board with selling Our Market Drayton home for us and we ended up with numerous offers and was delighted with the First Time buyers who made the commitment to buy our beautiful home
Again the attention to detail and the support given by Gail and her Team was outstanding especially as we had challenges at the top of what was a small chain of 3 , that was causing a lot of distress and delays
Finally we moved In July and we were proud to have left a beautiful home for Our buyers who like us had a great experience with Barbers and Gail Furnival
Since moving Gail and Julie have called me to check on our move and also My husbands well-being
It meant such a lot to me
So long story short
You have a star in Gail Furnival and she would be someone I would always go to for advise of moving and also who I would recommend to anyone selling their home

Everyone I spoke to about them said the same thing- they add on extra to rent for their own cut and they are rude. Not a good reputation at all. Need to get the act together because I would never use or recommend them.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Agent fees have to be there as of every other fee we pay in life but i do feel charging to pay on debit card is a little unfair. I also feel that 300 pound should be the fixed price instead of then another 60 for a second application.

As a person who values loyalty, it was a big step for me to move away from my current agent to help me find tenants for my properties. I felt that I had to do something as voids were taking too long to fill and I didnt feel my long standing current agent had the resources to be effective. I cautiously tried Barbers and have been amazed at the turnaround, with viewings and lettings happening significantly faster than with my previous agent. I get regular feedback and if a property is not snapped up, I get helpful recommendations on what to do to make it more attractive. With 3 properties coming empty in December I feared that we would see a drop in rent in December, but all 3 have been let with tenants moving in pre christmas. What a great result.

Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, I use Barbers for lettings they source my tenants, they do a full credit check and interview the tenants before the sign the contracts. We haven't had a bad tenant.

Professional estate agents, I used their local knowlage and experience before I bought properties to rent out, on their advice I have purchased 3 local properties to rent out and we have always had good tenants in them. Barbers source my tenants, not the cheapest in town but you get what you pay for, if you ask professional people / companies looking for properties to rent they always say they choose Barbers first. They have built up a good reputation in Shropshire, you don't do this over night. I would recommend them either for buying or letting.
