Worst experience with an estate agents ever. I originally contacted them about a studio, said I was going to take it but wanted to come and view it first. I asked if anyone else had booked in to view it or was interested and they said no. My friend went to the viewing for me, where she was told that the studio had been rented that weekend (despite me being told no one was interested or was viewing it before me) and was taken to see apartments instead. I signed for one, and since moving in the agents have been even more unhelpful, and increasingly rude. I’ve been dealing with Georgia Nicholson and Ashleigh Charlton for the past 2 months I have been living in Rivermill court (one of their apartment buildings), and both have been rude, condescending, and patronising when I have asked for help with things wrong with the flat. I haven’t been provided with a freezer, with no access to one whatsoever, despite their advertising on the website saying it’s provided - THEIR LIST OF AMENITIES ON THEIR WEBSITE IS FALSE ADVERTISING - after 2 months of explaining it is in my contract for them to supply one, they have just sent message after message saying it’s not their responsibility (much like the way they respond to their reviews on google), and getting progressively ruder when I laid out the clauses and implied terms. I also haven’t had hot water since moving in, and again was talked down to, and they tried to charge £70 for a plumber to come and fix it. They claimed it had been fixed, however only have hot water in the sinks intermittently. Please save yourself time and energy and don’t rent with this agents. If you look on the Priestley’s website and go to “meet the team” you can get a sense of the level of professionalism yourself. They have lied to me about being able to contact the landlord amongst other things. Worse than any student estate agent’s I’ve used, and this company advertises itself as luxurious, which is laughable really.

AVOID PRIESTLEY’S AND RIVERMILL COURT, KIRKSTALL, LEEDS
I would like to add to the previous 1* review regarding Rivermill Court in Kirkstall, Leeds. I have rented apartments and flats, student and professional, for the past seven years and Priestley definitely provided the worst service from an estate agent that I have ever experienced. I informed Priestley’s about the issues below when I moved into the apartment and it took:
- THREE months (over winter!) for a shower not providing hot water to be replaced. - Near FOUR months for the living room blind to be replaced despite the apartment being located on the ground floor near the entrance. - Despite being told that authorisation had be given, Priestley’s failed to replace two of the bedroom drawers (that wouldn’t open) over the full length of the tenancy (TEN months!).
I understand that Priestley’s acts as an intermediary, however, it is totally unacceptable that they advertise these apartments for landlords that will not make basic and necessary repairs. I was constantly emailing Priestley’s for these repairs to be made, and if I hadn’t, I highly doubt that any of the repairs would have been made. In some cases, I reluctantly had to use the threat that I would seek further advice/guidance from the university/council. They did always email back promptly, however, these emails were often copied and pasted, and skirted around the issues to further delay the repairs.
The apartments are also poor quality (developed by Priestley’s). The walls are very thin and you can even hear people walking/talking quitely in the apartments opposite and above. The noise from doors closing in other apartments/the entrance was also enough to wake you up through the night! The sink in the bathroom is also embarrassingly small.
To top the issues outlined above, Priestley’s tried to deduce £150 for the faulty bedroom drawers and a £42 check out fee (now banned) from my deposit. To their credit, they did rectify this and refund my whole deposit, however after all of the problems outlined above, it felt like the final kick in the teeth. I would not recommend this estate agent at all!

Absolutely filthy when I moved in and I had to spend money and time whilst I worked full time around this move.
So glad to have moved.

Reasonable prices, but the flat I was shown was in a state of disrepair.

Found a flat on Rightmove under Priestley's I was interested in with mis-matched information (it showed both a studio and flat with bedrooms of a similar design and layout). I contacted Priestley's and they informed me that the listing was wrong and they were changing it, but the flat with bedrooms was still available whilst the studio had recently been let.
At this point I arranged to make the 300-mile-round trip down to Leeds to view the property with plans on signing on the spot. I explained that it was a long journey and that my elderly grandparents were driving me down as I'm currently without a car. I also explained the importance of having separate rooms to me as I will be spending a lot of time working from home.
Upon arrival, I was taken to a studio flat and told that the flats with rooms had been let months ago. This not only wasted my time and money but was completely deceitful. Following this, I emailed the company with a formal complaint directed at the management. After a week and a half of no response, I emailed again. Two weeks have now passed and I am yet to even receive an apology for the wasted time.
If this agency can mess me about this much for a simple viewing, how would they handle the letting / moving in process? Avoid at all costs, there are much better alternatives out there.
