I just wanted to write a review here as I agree with all the previous posters except that I was a landlord with this agency, rather than a tenant as all the other reviewers are, but I also found the service here to be very poor.
I found the approach to me to be patronising and personally insulting, e.g. criticising the character of elderly family members from whom I had inherited the property, sending rude letters to them and telling me in no uncertain terms that I would be better off knocking the beloved house down because the land would be worth more without it.

I found Linda Selman so awful to deal with that I had to withdraw my application to rent one of the properties she was managing.
When I first met her I was with two friends viewing another of her properties. She was so rude and obnoxious on this occasion that she managed to offend both the friends I was with. We could not believe anyone could be so obnoxious. She was so awful it was surreal and we laughed about it for the rest of the day. However, when I put in an offer on one of her other properties it became apparent that her incredible rudeness was not a one-off. From the outset she was consistently rude, over-bearing, condescending, unapproachable, constantly on the side of the landlord, and totally unprofessional.
It was my first time as a tenant so I was unused to the process, but if I asked a question she accused me of being difficult and not committed to the rental. She persistently told me the landlords were concerned about my commitment even though I had done nothing except ask two questions about the process. For instance, one of my questions regarded the deposit which she insisted was paid with her admin fee. She referred to the deposit as a 'holding deposit'. I queried this as it indicated that it was being used to 'hold' the property prior to renting, so may not be fully refundable. This query was met with an endless verbal and written onslaught from her at every opportunity on how she and the landlords were concerned at my questioning and my lack of commitment, etc, etc.
On one occasion while speaking with her on the telephone I had to insist she spoke to me politely and professionally, which anyway made no difference to her constant rude and offensive manner. I tried hard not to phone her as any conversation sent her immediately into a diatribe on how awful and terrible I was, whilst alway insisting the landlords were the injured parties just by being subjected to me. Her emails were only slightly less offensive but still lacked any professional assistance.
It seems very odd that someone who must deal with the public on a regular basis, and (you would have thought) would want to rent out the properties she manages, can be so jaw-droppingly discourteous, unhelpful, and belligerent. I am not sure what exactly her problem is, and frankly I am not interested, but at least it is no longer a problem I have to deal with.
My strong advice is to stay well away. Linda Spelman is someone who truly gives letting agents a very bad name.

I completely agree with the comments already posted on here, Linda Spelman is rude & behaves with a complete lack of professionalism. Secondly, throughout the tenancy she was again slow at processing anything & never took care of any of the issues we had, but instead responded by blaming us for issues which had been clearly apparent from before we moved in.
Thirdly, she handled our leaving of the property terribly. She made personal verbal attacks on both of us, came within inches of my face & shouted at me, & when confronted on the phone responded simply by hanging up.
Lastly, I have spoken to six of her previous tenants since leaving the property, all of whom had trouble getting their deposits back. The first of whom was the previous tenant in the property that we stayed in - she informed us that Linda was withholding her deposit for various bits of work that needed to be done in the property such as gardening etc - none of which was ever done, the property that we moved into had nothing done for our arrival. Another tenant told me that she would show up at their property unannounced, another told me that she was driven out of Helston because she had annoyed so many tenants. It is also worth mentioning that at the start of our tenancy, when she discovered that we were in touch with the previous tenant, she was very rude to us on the phone telling us that we had no right to talk to her - obviously this was because she had all of the above to hide. However, the only reason we were in touch with the previous tenant was because Linda did not show up at the property viewing but left the tenant to deal with it!
Bottom line is stay away, she has caused us so much stress that in the end we told her to keep our deposit because we just wanted her out of her lives - however, she still told us that she would be sending us a bill on top of keeping our rather large deposit.

This woman gives agents a bad name and my personal experience has been exactly as Fred Flintstone with the exception that when she tried it on with me she politely and firmly got as good as she gave and left the house in tears, making her last comments to me through the letterbox. Avoid at all costs
