Move were a pretty awful property manager for a number of reasons. It was almost impossible to get them to actually fix anything in the flat. I reported my heating broken in mid January, and they didn't fix it. After two months of complaints from me, I threatened to report them to their redress scheme and to the council because the flat was going mouldy due to the lack of heating. Only then was the heating fixed, and only because the landlady stepped in and organised it without Move. A similar pattern (Move not doing anything until eventually the landlady organises her own repairs) happened with other maintenance issues around the flat.
On top of this they were generally poorly organised, terrible at replying to emails, and used a reference checking company that repeatedly cold called me to sell me unwanted insurance. My landlady was so frustrated with them that she has now changed the property management to another letting agency.

Rachel has made us feel safe and supported since she took us on as clients. The individual we spoke with before made us feel unsure, so we did have some trepidation as we moved into the lovely home. When Rachel became our contact she was approachable and kind, professional and efficient for all parties. A delight.
Recently, the dishwasher stopped working of old age. Rachel understood as we had two bedrooms of guests, how this was particularly important at that time. A delightful Paul came and sorted it within a week. Whilst the other work, not so essential is taking time to be done, due to things needing to be ordered and availability, Rachel’s kind manner, represents Move so much better than the previous employee. She ticks all the boxes, of conducting herself professionally for the owners and ourselves and Moves. She has an emotional intelligence in the way she speaks that shows all of the above. We feel secure with Moves because of Rachel.

There was also an incident where someone had entered my flat in a non-emergency situation and I received no notice at all. No 24 hour prior notice, which is legally required by the housing act, and no retroactive notification informing me someone had entered my flat that day. In fact, it was not until I approached them about a water bottle left and things left astray in my apartment did they mention someone had come in that day. They did nothing to rectify the situation after I notified them of my knowledge of what had happened. I asked what the emergency was since they entered without notification and they did not tell me there was any emergency. All they said was it won’t happen again.
The one positive is I had a leak in my flat which they did get fixed quickly, along with a leaky tap in the kitchen.

Offered me a good fee that represented the level of service I recieved.

We recently moved out of a property which we were renting through Move. The property itself we faced a lot of problems with faulty fire alarms, ceilings falling down and being left untreated etc. But the last straw was when we received our deposit back, almost half of the deposit had been taken citing light cleaning and redecoration. Obviously we aren't happy as no explanation has been given and we left the flat in good condition, it was an old flat to begin with so light wear and tear is normal. Wear and Tear is actually part of the contract. I am still in the process of fighting this case, hopefully can work with Move to resolve this but there communications have been extremely lax, considering this is an important matter. No one has even reached out to contact us and we are still left in the dark. I feel its these type of situations that separates good companies from bad ones. I realise we aren't Moves customers anymore as we have moved to a different flat which isn't under them but we were once their customers and should be treated the same regardless. I am really unhappy about this situation as its causing unwanted stress.

A friend and I rented a property from Move in October 2017. The process was fairly smooth in the beginning, but everything went downhill throughout the tenancy.
The property was advertised as having 'parking available', but it turned out you needed to request a permit from the landlord. Neither myself or my flat mate were told this, so we were both fined £60 for parking without a permit. We were not reimbursed.
Nothing in our property was PAT tested, with the exception of the immersion heater which had a PAT test that expired in 2015. We had issues with some electrical appliances in the property, the first time we reported this it was fixed, however, the second time that we reported an issue (regarding the heating), this was not fixed and never was for the remainder of the time we stayed at the property (a couple of months). According to Move, they aim to fix a problem with the heating within 3 working days, maybe they meant 3 working monthsâ¦
We had an assured short hold tenancy with an expiration date of 26th April 2018. When I told Move that we did not wish to stay at the property on 10th April, they stated that our leaving date would be 10th May, it seemed that they were unaware that we had an expiration date on our agreement, with no clause anywhere that states that we needed to give any kind of notice. When I asked Move to show me the part of the agreement that stated giving a notice, they emailed back to tell me that we could move out on the 26th as per our agreement. Move did not ever contact us to check if we wanted to stay at all.
When we left, we did not have a check out with Move (and actually never had a check in with us present/signed the check in agreement). I sent several emails about the check out and the only response I got was that we were 'waiting on confirmation from the landlord'. Not really sure what they were confirming.
After over a month, I made a claim through the Deposit Protection Service (which is a very useful service) and Move responded in less than 2 hours, stating that they needed £570 out of the £870 deposit for 'cleaning and redecorating'. I responded to the claim asking for more information and I never heard back. I then started a dispute after 2 weeks, where we could both submit evidence to support our cases.
Luckily, I went through the check in report and replicated EVERY photo Move took when we moved in when I left, to show that very little had changed. I used this as my main evidence and out of the £570 that Move requested, they got awarded £40 (yes, forty) to pay a cleaner for 2 hours as there were couple of things that I had missed. The adjudicator could not see any reason to allow Move money for redecorating. According to the report, Move tried to change their claim after I started the dispute, they could have only changed their claim to a lower amount, so maybe they realised that they had made a mistake trying to claim too much money in the hope that we wouldn't question it. My flat mate and I were only 20 & 19 at the time, so maybe they thought we wouldn't be so proactive in trying to get the money back, or maybe incapable of taking it to any kind of dispute.
For whatever reason they wanted to much, it didn't pay off and now they have just enough to go on a shopping spree in 99p stores and maybe have a bit leftover for the bus home. I'm now £530 richer (but not really because it was my money to start with) and very happy, even if it did take 4 months.
