As a landlord, I have been using Martin & Co as a 'tenant find' for more than six years. I am very pleased with their service and they have always found me the tenant that I have requested. Unfortunately I have found fault with a number of agents in the past but I'm Pleased to say that Martin & Co are doing a great job to date.

After telling the agent how unprofessional it was to do this was told it was down to the owner and not nothing to do with them. After some further venting she then had the nerve to inform me that the offer had been accepted 3 weeks prior. Why were they taking viewings on a property that was already sold STC!!

What agent could do to change your mind?
Hired people who did more than sit around all day picking their nose with one hand and digging into your wallet with the other. Also not charge £80 every time you have to sign a contact. £80 to change the name and date on a bit of paper and print it out and then watch someone sign it? Ridiculous.

Completely and utterly useless.
I've lived here for years as it is one of the cheapest space-to-cost ratio places to live. I can tell why it is so cheap.
Martin & Co do not give a single flying one about you so long as you are paying the rent. I have complained about the same faults in my apartment every 6 months since i moved in, and they STILL have never done anything about it despite always being told they will.
They mess up my contract every time i go to sign it again, they completely ignore tenants complaints and concerns, they are utterly incompetent in every way.
They obviously don't read their emails or text messages, as they call you up to ask a question you responded to days ago via email.
The people in this place are thicker than the walls in my flat (although that isn't saying much).

Again, where to start with these. They are horrible...please don't use because they are abusive and totally unprofessional. They all need to look in the mirror and question whether they are really in the right business. One woman actually said I had a chip in my shoulder for asking for something she should have provided. They hate being questioned and if you get the slightest bit angry with their incompetence and poor customer service they will throw it back at you instead of trying to appease and calm you down. What agent could do to change your mind?
They could have actually communicated with me. I didn\'t even find out we had the place until 3 days before they wanted me to move in ( a week early ). That was only because I called them as well! They could have not ripped me off with hidden charges.

But I had dates and emails proving they were lieng. I will never ever ever use them again. I will avoid them at all cost even if I found my dream house!

Where to start
As a landlord I constantly had to phone about Rent due, took 90 pounds from my rent income for a new landlords agreement that the Tenant never signed, When tenant vacated the windows, and back door were left unlocked, Tenant caused a 1000 pounds worth of damage, and 9 weeks later still waiting for bond to be paid for damages, constantly phone but no one replies to emails or phone.
I can honestly say that for 24 months at 50 pounds I paid them was a total waste of money please please do not use as they are a bunch of armatures in the field of letting as I should know as I have property's elsewhere in the uk and have never had an experience like I have had with Martins and Co in Newport Gwent.

Several times we have called, and gone into the branch to speak to the member of staff responsible for the bonds, to be told she's either out of the office or on lunch.
Our complaint and concern for a refusal of bond to be returned by the most rude arrogant and two faced land lord of 40B tunnel terrace has left us short for our mortgage after changing her mind 1 week after the ok from the inspection upon vacating the property.
I attended the branch one afternoon to again ask for assistance to be told she will be returning from lunch shortly, approximately 6 staff were in the office discussing their personal life swinging on their chairs drinking coffee and tea when the phone rang for a specific agent who told him to tell them that she was out of the office, blatantly she wasn't!!
Our bond was returned in favour to the landlord, as our evidence wasn't submitted, conveniently we never received the letters or chance to put our evidence forward.
We have an inventory for the property made up signed and dated by Martin & Co themselves, stating the item we were billed for damage was already damaged before we moved into the property. When we moved out we had brand new drawers and units ruined from the damp in her flat and a whole black bag of clothes shoes, bedding and handbags thrown out from our wardrobe because they had damp and damage to them.
We also painted the flat for the land lady to hide the damp and mold marks on the wall from her next tenant as she in her on words *couldn't give a shit* She was told by several people the damp is bad, we have photographs in evidence where the flat is so damp the skirting board has separated from the walls and also the toilet is hanging off the wall due to a bad damp problem in her walls which she got her boyfriend to paint with GLOSS!!! Yet no where in the inventory does it mention this property has a evere damp problem?!
So we will be taking this further with complaints and speaking to a solicitor seeing as they don't know what they are talking about and more educated to drink coffee and lie down the telephone to people!! Disgusting....
