So my experience with Martin & Co since the beginning has been nothing less than fantastic. From getting to do immediate viewing on the day I saw the property online, to continuous and exceptional support by Huzaifa. He has always been kind and patient towards all my doubts, and there were a lot of them given that it was my first time renting a property in this country.
Even with a lot of last-minute hurdles on our end to arrange guarantors and necessary documents, both Huzaifa and Namrah have been very supportive and gave a lot of their time to help us out.
I would recommend Martin & Co and have high praise for both the mentioned agents I was dealing with.

I was messed around by 2 former estate agents who failed to apply - after taking the money - for the HMO application and put the property on rent. The former estate agent kept my property empty for over 5 months and blamed it on “you're asking for too much.”
I reached out to Huzaifa at Martin & Co who advised and helped on the HMO application. HMO has now passed its initial stages and the property is on rent one month after giving it to him. I am also getting more than what I had asked the former agents to put it up for. I believe Huzaifa has a good foot in the letting market with plenty of clients and experience. I should've went to him from the start…

SLUM LANDLORDS - My partner & I rented a property through this company. My partner lived in the property for 7 years and I lived there 2 years. In April 2021 we reported damp in the bedroom coming from the old boiler. They did nothing. In October we found mushrooms growing behind our bed along with a large patch of mould. I contacted them and threatened to take the to tribunal if they didn't fix the issue. It was fixed in 3 days at that point. Then came our six months notice to leave. We were told not to rush but the company harassed us into leaving. We eventually moved out after three months and have now been advised we have to pay for multiple services. They have claimed that the oven needs cleaning, yet in their original documentation regarding the state of the property it is noted that the oven is in a poor state. They have claimed we broke a window yet as the property has not been maintained within the seven years rental the old wooden frames have rotted away. This has been reported to them on several occasions via the telephone and via email yet now they are trying to charge us for it. There was one instance where, for whatever reason, my partner paid the rent a handful of days later than usual yet this didn't stop one of their employees sending a vile and billious email threatening eviction for being late with the money. Not one seconds thought or consideration to there being a global pandemic and the possibility my partner, as a key worker, may have been ill with the virus. When challenged it was apparently an automated message, which if true, I would suggest someone with better grammar and ability at writing puts together all automated communications. In short, if you are looking to rent, avoid this business.

DO NOT USE Martin and Co. A few years ago me and my flatmate tried to rent a flat with them. They made us put down a "holding fee" to secure the flat, but then said the landlord needed the flat back and we couldn't move in.
This would have been okay, except they refused to refund the holding fee. When we phoned and emailed they kept saying they'd refund it "at the end of the week", and then not doing it. This went on for months.
We then went into the office to talk to them in person but apparently the person we needed to talk to was "not in" every time we came. Eventually, after months of them holding onto over £1000 from us, we had to go to the office, stay for hours and mention legal action before they finally refunded us.

Absolute worst year of my life battling with this estate agent. We moved into our flat, with tiles falling off, mould and damp throughout bedrooms and kitchen, stained carpets and thick layers of grease and grime everywhere. Many issues rose throughout the year and we brought them up over the phone/in person/via email and we were often ignored or told that the issue wasn't âbigâ enough for them to do anything about it. It took them over two weeks to send someone in to assess a leak from the ceiling (creating a pool of water) by which point we had moved out anyway! Their customer service was appalling, the state in which they presented the flat was shocking (especially when they later took 300 pounds of our deposit for 'cleaning' and say they clean every flat before tenants moving in, but I can assure no cleaner had ever stepped foot in that flat before we entered and the state we left it in was MUCH better than how we entered). I would never even contemplate about using this company in the future, my previous flat mates have rented another property off of them and are having the exact same issues all over again. I've heard many other horror stories from other students using them. Not worth the hassle at all. STAY AWAY.
