I would NEVER rent a property with this management company again, for the following reasons.

1. Despite paying the deposit and first month's rent several months in advance, the property was not ready to move into and the keys were not available on move-in day, yet the company still refused to amend the move-in date and kept all of the rent for this period.

2. The Company has no respect for their tenants' privacy and expected to be allowed to let themselves into the property whenever they felt like it, despite numerous messages from me to tell them I could make myself available if they told me in advance of the time of their visit. This was my home and I expected to be able to live there peacefully, without the constant worry that someone would have been in while I was out. I wonder how a Bowson employee would feel if a complete stranger let themselves into their home while it was unoccupied?

3. Insufficient or at times, no notice was given of visits to maintain or check the property, leading to unexpected interruptions in my working day.

4. Bowson attempted to keep a substantial amount of my deposit, despite the fact that I left the property in a better state than I found it. I took the matter to the DPS, who found in my favour and gave me back my deposit, but please bear in mind that you need to provide plenty of photographic evidence and it does take a few months for the DPS to investigate. I suspect that Bowson simply try their luck and hope that most people can't be bothered to appeal it, as they provided no evidence whatsover. I recommend that if you are currently renting from Bowson, make sure you take photographic evidence of EVERYTHING when you leave as I suspect it is a regular practice of Bowson to try to keep all or part of the deposit.

If you are not currently renting from Bowson but are looking for a place to rent, my advice would be to give them a wide berth and choose a different company instead. I will certainly NEVER rent from them again.

Recently rented a property from Anne Marken, the property was transferred to Bowsons during our tenancy.

Overall, Bowsons provided a decent service being responsive to issues and investigated issued – however its important to note that Bowsons ultimately answer to the landlord who owns the property, making it extremely rare for repairs/requests to be completed (in our case). The landlord Anne Marken failed to replace faulty items and fixtures, resulting in a poor living experience in an extremely dated house which requires significant investment.

Upon moving out the landlord attempted to withhold over a thousand pounds of the deposit, after contesting this the amount was significantly reduced, highlighting their questionable practices.

Overall, while Bowsons provide a decent service, it should be known that the Landlord still has considerable influence and therefore requests, and repairs are rare.

I had signed a contract with bowson for a 2nd year tenancy. When I was travelling overseas during the pandemic, before start of 2nd year living in my apartment, they sent me an email, to which I haven't responded for 2 weeks and they unlawfully decided that I am no longer a tenant because of that.

As a result all property from my apartment has been moved to one of their warehouses without my permission, under the assumption that I have deserted the property, when I had a contract with them for 2nd year of tenancy. Upon contacting them, they told me that they will move all my stuff back with a fee.

Once I returned a month later I was shocked to see that they only returned a third of the stolen items. They told me there is nothing they can do about it and that all of my property was returned.

Even though I did not respond for 2 weeks, I made all of my rent payments on time and there was no lawful way to eject me for ignoring their email according to the contract.

They broke their own contract and only agreed to compensate the damage of stolen items once I threatened to take legal action. Once I sent them the list of stolen items, they also cut the compensation sum in half of what I asked, because having certain expensive/high items seemed unreasonable to them.

TLDR:
Thieve agency. Took a few weeks to get compensation for stolen property in my apartment.

Please avoid this agent as much as you can. It seems fine when you check in. When you check out, they endeavour to take every penny from your deposit. Below two photos are washing machine before my check-in and after my end-of-tenancy cleaning. They still want to deduct £110 given that I did thorough cleaning before the end of my tenancy. I allowed them to view the property at any time for the next tenant and I moved out 15 days before the end of my tenancy. They got my keys 15 days in advance but did not return the deposit. AVOID THIS AGENT. They care nothing but money. I've circulated my experience and told my all friends and students not to use their service at all!!!

I had a worst experience with Bowson.
They are not returning our full deposit and deducting money for cleaning.
I cleaned the house and every single bit of it and returned them in the same condition how was given to me. Upon asking they just said we need to clean the property. They were failed to show any genuine picture of what was not cleaned. They didn’t compare the house with the checkin report and also didn’t mention anything in the checkout report as there was nothing to show but since they wanted to deduct the money for their own benefit. This is so unfair, taking the money from the tenants for the house redecoration or dont know for what reasons. I would not recommend this agency to anyone if you want your deposit back on time or a peaceful stay. During our stay also they did not provide support on time. Always late to fix any issues. They came to visit the house in our absence and did not give any notice before or after their visit and left the lights on for days. Such an irresponsible agency. Now when I suffer from these issues I see many people have said the same things about this agency and gave them 1 star because 0 is not an option.
