The absolute worst housing company in Scotland. No hot water constantly. 10 times this year alone and it’s April! We got a heating company called minibems to replace our communal heating system. Our hot water was meant to be off between 95 a single day and it’s been off two days. Lowther couldn’t care less and have asked £45 extra in rent a month. Our flat also wasn’t wind and watertight 4 years breaching our contract. Our oven exploded and they took 4 months to replace it and only did after we threatened to withhold our rent resulting in them bringing a oven the NEXT day. Magic! They constantly schedule useless repairsvisits things that do not need done like replacing fire alarms and housing visits from a housing officer who wants you to grass on your neighbours about things no one bothers about! The whole company is an absolute shambles and take full advantage of paying renters letting folk on benefits run rampant and cause chaos. We had young men dangling out their windows threatening women walking by with disgusting acts and constant drug dealers screaming and shouting at all hours of the night. This is what mid market rent gets you these days. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Criminals. Fought with them since 2020 to repair leaks to our roof. Threatened to take them to a Tribunal and they eventually sent some clowns out to 'fix' it. Paid 8 grand to get ceilings replaced and the leak is still there after the next prolonged period of heavy rain. Them and their parent company Wheatley should be shut down and their directors jailed.

Expensive and useless. Wish negative stars were an option. Have contacted countless other factors and they're either just as useless or they don't take on new homes.
Been waiting around 3/4 years for a hole in the roof to be fixed. They then closed the ticket and all neighbours have to go through the months long process of getting the work authorised again. Ridiculous.
They provided zero service through lockdown but still charged us 100%.

Absolutely, utterly unprofessional and useless service. Letting agent gave wrong keys, never advised what the deposit is (broken Letting Agent Code of Practice), brand new property needed repair; agent also forgot to mention draft from the attic and high ceilings (!), so unhelpful. AVOID lowther homes at all cost !!!

If zero stars where an option that’s what I’d choose! I have had water pouring through my bedroom cielling for a year now with no repair. This is the most atrocious experience with a service company I've had in the UK, period. They are unable to fix a buzzer for half a year, never call you back when then tell you that they will, took 2 months to process a representation mandate and continue to tell us that "well the buzzer will be updated with the scheduled maintanence" and yet it's been over 6 months with about 30% of flats impacted. Stay far away.

Lowther homes is simply the worst factoring company. All you get is empty promises that someone will call you back. What an unprofessional operation!
I bought a flat in October. Paid the developer to manage the building for the 1st year, after which they would pass this over to the factor company they appointed. Then got a bill from Lowther charging me 2 months early (from 1st August) based on an incorrect purchase date. Also, they were charging me for ‘stair cleaning’ when they had never even been to the apartment block! I immediately called Lowther to dispute the bill and complain - apparently nothing was done!
Since then, I have made several calls to Lowther disputing the bill and chasing for a response - no joy, all a waste of time and effort. With the exception of 1 chap, who arranged a DSAR for me, their contact centre staff couldn’t care less. They never logged the dispute on time, their staff are curt, insensitive and unhelpful on the phone; they keep making empty promises that 'someone from the specialist team will call you back' - it’s been 2 months I’m still waiting for a call back. Yet, they keep sending further bills and a female staff even threatened debt collection despite the ongoing dispute.
Since my 1st call to Lowther on 31st August to date, I’m no further forward with this dispute. I called again today to chase for an update, spoke with Emma who was rather curt, dismissive and unhelpful - rather than escalate the dispute for investigation, she insisted their records are correct, offered to resend the disputed bills and again said 'someone will call you back'. Most unhelpful! Absolutely no delivery on service!

One of the worst factors with the unprofessional operation.
Sold a flat in April and handed over the key to the new owner on the 1st of July. The solicitor sent us a letter that was issued by Lowther Homes and highlighted that Lowther owes us over £200 in credit and should pay us back when the property was handed over to the new owner.
Since the 1st of July, we made multiple phone calls and emails to Lowther, with no reply or any feedback but empty promises that 'someone will call you back'.
Suprise enough, at the end of Sept., rather than receive our credit back, we received a debt collector's email and chased up for 'Aug. and Sept factor bill'. Contacted Lowther again ...... 'someone will call you back'.

If I could give negative stars I would! Lowther homes have been absolutely appalling with communication and absolutely ripping off their customers. 1) my bike was stolen from the communal shed 3 years ago and they still haven't changed the combination to the lock, almost every resident has now had their bike stolen over the past 3 years.
2) we were charged >£1,000 for a roof repair and all they did was put some glue on, the roofer told me he needs to do a further repair when the weather is better, 6 months down the line lowther have no idea, the repair is not standard for the listed building and everyone we invite to our apartment ask what a monstrosity the repair is to look at, I sent emails,letters and a good dozen phone calls to get a response, we will probably charge another £1,000 + full a proper repair
3) they turned off the extractor fans 4+ years ago, 40% of the building relies on those as there are no windows, now we have an additional cost because there is rot and damp to the internal walls, again they are letting it get worse before repairing
4) After the first lockdown we received a newsletter from Lowther expressing how happy they are to be back servicing our buildings and starting maintenance work after being on furlough for the past few weeks, the next day they send a £150 bill for services over the past 3 months…we did NOT receive any services over those 3 months and I received no response from my email asking for a breakdown of costs

Useless. Disorganised and inept. Cosy relationship with GHA and City Building (who employ people and tradesmen that can’t get jobs in the commercial sector) and still run on council mental. In other words, they do stuff when it suits them and knock offs early and are incompetent. Issue is they have monopoly and stranglehold in Glasgow. Like the Mafia in Italy.

For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
