Then when I was about to extend the tenancy with the current tenant at a new price. I asked chestertons about the what fees they're charging. They told me a fee which I agreed but then when the new tenancy started they're actually charging me a higher fee. When I asked they explained that the lower fee they told me is for a new contract. The higher fee is for the current contract which is just an extension of the old contract. I have been trying to resolve this issue for 2 months now. They charge much higher fee than other real estate agents and their service is so poor. I'm definitely leaving Chestertons.

I wish we have done some research before letting these individuals dealing with our property.
Once the tenants paid the full fees and rent in advance, the agents correspondence stopped when we started asking what happened to the funds paid by the new tenants
There were hidden fees, (some were erased) dozens of calls ignored, delays, disrespect.
After having tenants in our property for more than a week, we called them for an explanation regarding the whereabouts of the funds for the rent, the funds for the deposit which was paid by the tenants on the previous month. The was not reply, no explanation and the best emails we got was it was the Christmas period in their office, short of staff etc... We have all records for the ignored emails, the phone calls that went to voicemail. A nightmare, it was like dealing with a bunch of amateurs, individuals without any respect, without any professional approach, any problems solving skills. I was devastated to see the lack of ability and lack of common sense from Chesterton's Canary Wharf to realize that without people like us (landlords and general members of the public who pay for letting /sales services) are the actual foundation of their businesses. Simple as no customers, no business, no deal.
I do admire some of you were lucky enough to have had some sort of services from them were you were happy with in the past but we had none. We hope this will open the eyes of others before trying their luck and wait to see what happen. Hope this helps. i am a tenant in one of the properties managed by chestertons in London. They are the worst when i comes to providing service to the tenant or helping tenants cordinate with landlords. even minor repair works which are urgent and impact the living conditions in flats managed by them takes months not weeks. Extremely unhappy with them and their office in Isle of dogs and would ensure neither I nor anyone i know use them as agents in the future!

The worst experience I have ever had interacting with any business, ever. The list of problems gets worse as you go down:
I spent 6 months in the property and they were terrible as a management company, e.g. the heating system and bath were broken which they refused to fix.
When I left they held onto my deposit for a month without justification, then tried to claim around £4.5k from me when I raised the dispute. This was made up of things like £1,200 for a scratch on a bed and £350 for watermarks on bathroom tiles, both of which were shown in the check in report. They also tried to get £100 for a hoover which they had told me to dispose of after it caught fire, clearly not PAT tested.
Most of their claims were binned by the adjudicator, eventually.
I also asked for disclosure of some of my personal data from their records, which they refused, so that has been raised with the ombudsman.
Honestly it doesn't matter how nice the property is, do NOT risk letting through this agency. They will literally break the law to make a quick win if they think they can get away with it.

Chestertons are by far the worst lettings agency in London. I used them for 4 years to let my property and it was not an enjoyable time.
When they found me a tenant for my property I was excited, the offer was lower than I wanted but I went with it. Chestertons held back key information which I only found out about 3 months into the agreement by the tenants not them. If I had that information at the start I would not have gone ahead with it.
During the re-letting processes at the start of this year, Chestertons automatically re-listed my property without any discussions with me on price, furnished or un-furnished, length of contract etc. They also found a total of ZERO suitable applicants for my property, the ones they did find were referrals from my current tenants. I negotiated a deal with these tenants all confirmed with Chestertons, only to get a call 3 days later from a manager saying there was some mixed communication and the tenants have not agreed to the terms and did not agree to the terms outlined by senior lettings agent.
Lastly, the communication. I lost count of the amount of people I spoke to from Chestertons, and 3 of them i'm still waiting for them to return my call!!!!
Save yourself a lot of stress and hassle and choose any other agency please.

I was very happy with Bradley and the property I looked at. He helped me with all of my questions and worries. He made a very positive impact on me for the flat.
