Temme English were founded in May 2010 by Carl Temme and Steve English who shared a vision for creating a new estate agent, delivering the finest service and results for customers and clients across Essex. Having initially established ourselves as an award winning business in Wickford, our second office was opened
in Colchester in 2013. To meet the demand of the booming local market, our business expanded once more in 2014 with the addition of an office in Basildon, and in 2018 we opened our Maldon branch, bridging the mid-county gap and giving us a widespread coverage of Essex.
The Temme English reputation is built on the key principles and values of:
Integrity: you can expect and rely on the honesty and professionalism of our service
Passion: our team live and breathe excellence in everything we do
Innovation: we market properties effectively using tried and trusted as well as modern methods
Service: we put our customers and clients at the centre of everything we do
Results: we achieve the best results in every situation
Whilst the main focus of activity at Temme English is selling and letting property, we have a range of complementary professional services to help make buying and selling, letting and renting easier. These include both mortgage and conveyancing services.
Our fully trained and experienced team will be pleased to advise.

We had a really positive experience using Temme English for our recent sale and purchase. They kept us in the loop all the way through the process, and were really helpful when we needed them. Having used other agents before, i would choose to work with Temme English again in the future.

We have recently completed on a purchase of a property with Temme. Initially our first visit to the house we brought was a nice one, Mitchell met us at the property and showed us around. We loved the house and Mitchell was a pleasure to deal with, we discussed his baby who was due, wished him well etc and subsequently offered 10k over the asking price for the property as we really wanted it. Sadly for me personally the service we received from this stage on was below the standard expected.
The agency was fairly difficult when we needed to view aspects of the new house to prepare for moving in, the visits were rushed on more then one occasion, mainly because the door lock was difficult to open, we accepted this on a couple of occasions but the consistent lack of planning to gain entry going forward was frustrating and time consuming. The staff showing us around were always polite but sadly often late to viewings.
We asked for some support for getting the locks changed, which was refused by the seller, that's fine on our part as we have made the required changes after moving in, however we didn't receive prompt communication from Temme about this, I had to chase 6 times via email and phone calls to get an update, when I did get an email regarding the locks I responded by calling them, I was told I didn't answer calls ans had miscommunication from them, I had no records of any missed calls from Temme, I returned all calls if I missed them at work.
We were then set a short notice deadline to exchange contracts, Rachel dealt with this in a professional and prompt manner and she was always a pleasure to speak to, she called to congratulate us on our new home with real enthusiasm and care when it went over the line, it meant alot to us to get it done and Rachel was instrumental in helping us.
Sadly the completion day was ruined and has left a real bad taste in our mouth. Moving jnto a dream home is supposed to be special, we have obviously got cross's wires here with regards to the key hand over, we believed we were to meet Rachel at our new house and be handed our keys, this didn't happen much to our frustration but we understand the communication breakdown, however we were dealing with solicitors, both agent's and removal people when this was discovered, it was stressful and difficult as all home moves are, when on the phone to discuss this issue my wife and I were accused by Carl of being passive aggressive, no we were stressed!!! The most painful hit was Carl laughed at us, rammed home his point and didn't try to understand the stress we were under, we hadn't moved fro 12 years, you do it everyday so some understanding would have gone along way even if the result was the same! Please don't laugh at people whi have spent 360 thousand pounds of their hard earned money, it hurts. Carl also put the phone down us therefore having the keys to our home , I had to go and get them which was awkward and difficult. We also had no calls leading g up to moving day to see if we were ready, if we were OK and could they offer any words of support or help, nothing! Once in our new home we didn't get a welcome card, no welcome gift like many agents have done, the agent selling our house did that instead!! It left a sad feeling with us, like we were a nuisance who had completed a house so please politely go away now, we are done feeling.
I called the next day and asked for Rachel, we wanted to smooth everything, leave it on good terms, its now 4 days later and we haven't had a call back so I guess our feeling of we are dine was correct, now I'm writing this to share my experience and frustration. Please going forward give people a more memorable moving day, it's hard, stressful, show you care and help, don't laugh at people

Awful experience buying from Temme English Colchester. Rushed viewings (when we were able to get them for the house we had agreed to purchase), staff unable to unlock the front door (on every visit, not just the first) and chasing for information and answers. Completion day was the worse - they said they would meet us at the property to hand the keys over. However they changed their mind once the solicitor called to say we had completed and now had to go to the office. Whilst trying to explain to Carl that this is not what was agreed, he accused me of being aggressive and of lying. Same to my husband (must be his standard line to deal with awkward conversations) laughed at my husband and hung up. Keys were literally handed to us with no pleasantries that other estate agents do - no card, no gift, no meter readings. They simply do not care once you agree to buy a house they are listing

I booked a viewing earlier in the day which was confirmed by the agent, So my partner and I travelled from Rochford to Wickford to view a potential property to rent through this agency. We arrived early but alas no agent arrived to meet us, we put in a call to him and explained we were at the property and wondered where he was, he replied 'what property?! Oh I left you a voice mail cancelling' I have no voice mail service! So we hung up on him after he continued to lie/make excuses to us. I then received a text saying 'I sent you a text at 5pm to cancel', no text was ever sent or received!! He should have had the decency to call me to cancel!! Angry is an understatement, our time and fuel was wasted due to his incompetence! Would never recommend this agency to anyone!!

the complications and difficulty would be through your conveyancer not estate agent as estate agent purely take pictures and send emails etc to advertise your property and buying is much easier than...
Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
Complaints Procedure
We are committed to providing a professional service to all our clients and customers. When something goes wrong, we need you to tell us about it. This will help us to improve our standards.
If you have a complaint, please put it in writing, including as much detail as possible. We will then respond in line with the timeframes set out below (if you feel we have not sought to address your complaints within eight weeks, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Property Ombudsman to consider without our final viewpoint on the matter).
What will happen next?
• We will send you a letter acknowledging receipt of you complaint within three working days of receiving it, enclosing a copy of this procedure.
• We will then investigate your complaint. This will normally be dealt with by the office manager who will review your file and speak to the member of staff who dealt with you. A formal written outcome of our investigation will be sent to you within 15 working days of sending the acknowledgement letter.
• If, at this stage, you are still not satisfied, you should contact us again and we will arrange for a separate review to take place by a senior member of staff.
• We will write to you within 15 working days of receiving your request for a review, confirming our final viewpoint on the matter.
• If you are still not satisfied after the last stage of the in-house complaint procedure (or more than 8 weeks has elapsed since the complaint was first made) you can request an independent review from The Property Ombudsman without charge.
