She canceled the viewing because she didn't have keys to enter the flat???
Not sure why you charge £700 in fees. You wasted half of my day which I'm not gonna get back.
At least speak to the current tenant that you'll have viewings that day. Don't show up and hope the tenants will be around.
Useless.

On top of that, the cooker, the fridge, the door handle were all broken when we moved in. It took 3 months to fix after I was able to contact the landlord. Hastings couldn't organise a party in a brewery, let along be allowed to manage a property. Their health and safety is non-existent and I am very surprised their negligence hasn't killed someone yet. Strong words, yes, and I mean every single one. AVOID. Also, got charged £50 x 2 for 'lightbulbs to be replaced' which were working fine when we left.

I have rented 2 flats before, never had a similar experience - When me and my flatmate saw the flat agents were literally fighting among each other for who had to rent it - involving us customers in their personal fights... I.e. we were shown the flat by one agent but another one contacted us to have the rental proposal submitted via him. We thought there was nothing weird as he was from the same company, until their manager got back to us to ask 'who did what' among the agents... such a circus!
Would recommend not to rent through them unless you really have to!

Paid 2 weeks worth of deposit and despite referencing has been successful, we were not allowed to move into the apartment due to new requirements from the agent. Have never received deposit money back despite not being allowed to move in by agency. I have sent many complaint letters and emails and never got a reply from them. They do not even reply to the ombudsman.

This is a long story, lasting about 20 days, after that finally I got all my money back. - We arranged a viewing of a flat in Willesden Green with Zenna. - The viewing was at 2.30pm: me and my girlfriend arrived there after more than 1h trip, and about 2.20 pm Zenna informed, over the phone, that keys were not available and all needed to be moved at 3.30pm. - I had to go back to work so another hour lost to go back without viewing the flat, but my girlfriend stayed there and saw it. She was happy about the flat & we put written offer down. - Offer has been accepted, paid same day 2 weeks holding deposit & they started the referencing process. - Once referencing process was over successfully, started the mess. - After 2 days from the end of the reference checks, I started to call the office to ask for contract: Zenna or Maglin have been always out of office, every day one different person was telling me that they will call me asap but unfortunately, nobody else knows anything about my problem. How is possible, ...you have pc you are in the same office, all written in file, but nobody knows except them. - IN 4 days I called 4 times and always same story: Zenna & Maglin out. WHat a poor service!!!!!! - I started to get suspicious, I started to move my friend sollicitiors, I started to understand how to proceed legally: I had alreay checked name of director of this unprofessional branch to go with internal complaning & than going ahead to property ADR or in court. - After 4 days trying & trying, Zenna called me to say that , unfortunately, landlord does not want to rent anymore so they will refund money to us. - Took nearly 2 weeks to have money back...long time if you think that a transfer in UK takes few minutes. - After 10 days waiting transfer, my girlfriend wrote if is possible to speed up and, by miracle, same day, we had money. - I don't know if was coincidence or not but I don't trust a lot about coincidences. - Anyway finally is over; we got all money back BUT... all LOndon Bridge branch team has been unhelpful, ZEnna & Maglin always evasive & out of office, and I was ready to go & meet the director Thomas to go ahead with legal process. MY SUGGETION IS: I TRIED OTHER 2 AGENCIES AND NO PROBLEM AT ALL. Don't trust them & change agency, has been risky time for me.

I recently rented a flat from Hastings and would not recommend ever using them again. They are rude, threaten you with a withdrawal for asking questions with regards to the tenancy and their fees are astronomical. Almost £1000 in fees to take a flat and their breakdown is quite honestly a joke with no justification!
*The London Bridge office is useless and lied to us on several things, the biggest being the fact that **thye had not even contacted the landlord to tell them we would be moving in or to ask them any of our requests. This was only discovered when we were forced to go into the office to find out what was going on. The manager then realised what had happened***.
On top of all this and the above average admin fees you would expect a quick and efficient process. This is far from what we received. Constantly having to chase the office on contracts and the move in date being pushed back by almost a week from what was originally agreed. The office is so unorganised and do not expect a call back if the receptionists say they will make sure it happens. After we moved in it took almost a month to finalise everything and get issues fixed that should have been completed before we moved in. For example a professional clean.
Avoid avoid avoid! Completely useless.

Whilst Sal and his team at Hastings lettings were really helpful in getting us to the sign contract stage, the after service by Louise Norris is shocking and they breached the contract. We arranged for a professional clean to be done prior to us moving in, as the previous tenant had a cat and my husband is very allergic to cat hairs (particularly important as he is immunocompromised due to a bone marrow transplant). This was written into the contract to be done by the agent or owner. On arriving to pick up the keys, the handover was one hour late. Once in the flat, it was obvious the clean either hadn't be carried out or was done appallingly. There were lots of cat hairs on the headboard and sofas. My husband desperately tried to contact Hastings to make sure cleaning was going to happen that day. No luck. We had to find alternative accommodation that night and in desperation found a cleaning company to come out on the Sunday. When we contacted Hastings on the Monday to give them the cleaning bill, Louise was downright rude, obstructive and unhelpful. She would not accept that as 'professional clean before we move in' was in the contract that this meant that the flat would be cleaned at their expense. If it wasn't for the fact that my husband was starting a new job that day, we would have walked away from the letting (and legally been able to do so as they had breached the contract from the start). Louise would not listen to us and would not accept that Sal had agreed over the phone on the Saturday key handover day that the cleaning bill would be paid by Hastings (who presumable would charge the previous occupant). Really disappointed with the very unprofessional way they run the after sales. Here is the contract quote
"Add to Contract – Clause 12. It is agreed between the Landlord and the Tenant that the following conditions are to be provided for the property prior to commencement of tenancy: • Property to be professionally cleaned"

THE WORST AGENCY EVER said about Hastings International

Let me share my experience and what we had to go through! This is absolutely the worst agency ever! Denise McCabe performs her duties breaking the laws!
First of all once we moved in into our new property we received only 1 pair of keys! Agency advised us to make another pair of keys ourselves which took us 3 weeks to make it! We had to get the landlord permission and deal with key supplier companies.
The manages of our property was constantly being changed and we always had to wait for the response.
The worst part is the end of tenancy... a few weeks before our tenancy ending the Hastings international agency changed our deposit protection company to another company WITHOUT giving us any new documentation.
One day before our tenancy ending we had a cleaner to make sure everything is in a good condition. I took pictures for the reference. We paid £90 for a cleaner. After we left the property the agency sent us an email that the flat hasn't been cleaned and mentioned that they will deduct £170 from our deposit for the cleaning of the flat. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!
Just because they transferred my deposit to another company I had no control of it. It took us almost 2 months to get the deposit back, of course not in full.
They bridge so many laws of Section 213 of the Housing Act 2004. They failed to provide the details of my deposit protection scheme within 30 days of the payment of my deposit.
They also failed to return the deposit back within 10 working days after the tenancy agreement is over.
This is the worst experience ever, all I want is to sue this company for all stress and challenges created. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IM ABOUT TO DO.
So please be aware of it! This is completely not reliable agency, despite the amount of money they are charging for the agency fees! Ridiculous.

We visited six letting agent offices to ascertain the kind of service that a prospective tenant would receive when entering the office. Megan was the most enthusiastic and positive person we saw. We invited six agents around and Megan was in the top two due to her knowledge of the current market, the type of property and the value likely to be achieved. We rented out the property within a week. In fact had two good tenants to choose from. We got great support and advice from Megan through the whole process. We achieved the rental that the property was advertised at.

Please be aware that this company will waste your time . I had two flats I was looking at and I was happy to take either of them. But unfortunately lanlord wasn't happy with company let... that was quite surprising because I had all the references from previous Lanlords and really high income. Never mind that.... I paid my 450� hold deposit and then this agent disappeared. We called to office and they were saying that they will call back etc. Never received any call from so called manager. After nearly three weeks I received my money back.
Really nasty attitude and unprofessional agent.
