I had been looking in the Wokingham area for a property that was a little different, with character and I was happy to take on a property that I could refurbish as I had strong ideas about what I wanted to achieve. David Cliff showed me Belmont Cottage and it was exactly the type of property I was looking for. The sale went through smoothly and we were moving in within a couple of months of the first viewing. Terrible industry knowledge. I tried to sell my house with David Cliff. I gave up. Initially they gave me a ridiculous valuation that was nowhere near where it should have been at a time the house had the most attention. After months went by, i decided to make some fixes to the property (something they never recommended) they put me in touch with some cowboy who largely ignored my requests and charged me more than double what i ended up paying a carpenter to complete the work.

A string of admin and booking errors later, i gave up and decided to sell the property independently.

Things got so bad Thames Valley Police placed a Closure Order on the Property.

Victoria (Lettings Manager ) the Manager did not answer my phone calls for days or responded to my emails.
Truly unhelpful and unprofessional bunch I have ever come across in 40 years that I have been dealing with Agents as a Landlord, at this time I inquired about a flat to rent.

When we decided to put our house on the market in Crowthorne we got round all the local agents. All of them came up with similar prices and fees but I still wasn't 100% sure who to use or whether to use an online agent. Our house was a little unique and a bit quirky so we knew it wouldn't suit everyone despite the fact that we thought it was the best house going! I decided to contact Luke at David Cliff for a valuation as I had dealt with him in the past and found him to be honest, reliable and hard working. I had my concerns that they were not Crowthorne based and asked what would the difference be in using them rather than an online agent as essentially they had no local presence. He assured me that there was a big difference and the fact they were only based in the next town meant many of their buyers were looking at our area as well as Wokingham. He didn't offer a better fee, he didn't over value to get the instruction but said it how it was and I felt comfortable with what he was telling me. We did have a lot of viewings, we had a lot of no's, I even had a bit of a wobble thinking maybe we should have used a local agent. We then sold to a cash buyer. Our cash buyer had nearly 13 visits to our property with varying different reports. Joss who was dealing with the sales progression and booking in the reports and visits has been absolutely amazing. She has worked tirelessly to get things through for us as quickly as possible with a great sense of humour to boot. It is a shame that the same could not be said of our solicitors who poor Joss had to keep pushing to get things through. If it hadn't of been for Joss I think I would have thrown in the towel by now but as it stands we move in 3 weeks time. All I would say is that a lot more house sales would go through if everyone had a sales progressor as good as Joss. This is around my 14th house purchase and none have been as good as her. Infact if she ever gets bored at David Cliff then there would be a job here for her!

We have had our home on the market for 5.5 months and have had about 6 viewings and only 1 in the last two months.
