I was refused a property 6 days after having filled out all necessary forms and paying them £200 good faith deposit die to my income on my application form not being enough (even tgough they checked it on the day i paid!) they are now refusing to give me my money back so pocketed a nice little £200 out of this (which is infact against the law). I am left woth no option but to pursue this matter with trading standards. Avoid them! Definately poor agents, there are much better more professional agents out there.
What agent could do to change your mind?

This is “the” worst company I have dealt with in my life of real estate dealing. It was so terrible that we have decided to never touch them by a barge pole.
They have extremely poor and shady practices. These are also supported by their parent company (Countrywide), whom I found to be even terrible.
Despite all the worst experience, if you try, please do read terms and conditions and strike out boldly where they enforce a payment even when Slater Hogg fares a poor performance. I would strongly advise that you strike the clause out clearly with a time barrier.
We lived in an estate where houses sold in 15 days. Our property was well maintained and about 15 years old. Their own sister company gave us a home report which was undervalued, with Slater Hogg & Howison, Hamilton advising us that this should not affect the market value. The house remained on market for over 3 months. We had 16 viewings when we realised through reliable sources that some of the viewers who seemed to have posed as buyers were not even eligible or interested in a large home. So basically I inferred that these were stooges to reduce the price. When I recognised the issue, the lady at the Hamilton Branch had the audacity to shout at me over phone and even start justifying the low quotes from 2 potential buyers. The manager was even terrible in his behaviour condoning his staff behaviour.
It's never too late to show a bad company and bad behaviours, the door. As soon as I got their boards to be taken out, further bad behaviour began - we were being threatened on phone and letters.
Finally, we handed over the property to another Agency, who got us an independent home report which was 10% higher and we sold the house within 2 weeks of advertisement at 20% higher price than what Slater Hogg and Howison was recognising and offering our property.
The ordeal did not end there with Slater Hogg and Howison trying to send notices to us and even in unsealed letters. Because of my oversight on the contract performance clauses, I had to initially pay the money off to avoid such bullish behaviours.
I then escalated the matter to the property Ombudsman and recovered much of the amount.
As stated before, my advise would be to avoid and if you do engage, read every clause, strike or edit to ensure that you would not pay a single penny of marketing fees or home report costs if they do not get you a certain minimum price within a specified date of transaction or sale.
If possible avoid Slater Hogg!

24hr turnaround...wow
Went to viewing for flat in Bothwell along with my daughter and met up with the efficient and bubbly Kirstie McKinnon.
Kirstie was excellent throughout and answered all of my questions on the flat thoroughly and professionally.
Her local knowledge of the area helped me immensely in making my decision to move forward with the flat.
Once I had confirmed my intentions of moving forward Kirstie then went into overdrive and literally had me with the keys within 24hrs, During this time she kept me up to date with everything that was and had been done and how I could help speed the process on.
The follow up process was made simple with supporting calls and explanations of of what emails were arriving and any actions that I needed to adhere to.
Good Company to deal with and great staff

We were living in Bristol , and they showed a virtual tour which was exactly how the house was in real life. Face to face absolutely wonderful and kind and made us feel very comfortable with the decision. Very recommended, as they didn't know us personally, however they treated us on a very fair way , despite of our circumstances. Thanks very much particularly to Kirstie to receive us very kindly, and started and finalize the process, and also Pauline , who was in touch and approachable at all time , during the compliance process. In fact , if the system failed to upload documents, we sent to Pauline and she did it for us. Thanks very much

WORST ESTATE AGENT AROUND!!!! Problem after problem after problem and the landlord just doesn’t care for the safety of their tenants. Took almost a year to get our bathroom light fixed, the ceiling looks like it could cave in at any minute, the roof has started falling in, had a contractor out and was told they wouldn’t touch it as it’s too big a job and heard nothing after that and STILL had the cheek to take full rent!! I rent a flat through slater Hogg/ country wide.
I reported an issue with my bathroom light every time I turned it on there were sparks coming from the fan and all the ceiling lights blew, no one seemed to care and left it like that for way over 6 months until I then had to report it AGAIN at the flat inspection for something to be done about it. Then on 04/08/2020 part of the buildings ceiling caved in!!! I reported this to my estate agent only for them to ignore me, I called, I emailed and NOTHING, FINALLY someone got in contact and said they would send a company out to review the damage, 2 contractors were sent out and I was told my landlord rejected the quote, my neighbour then contacted them and he was told the contractor turned down the job as it was too big for them to undertake! Since then myself and my neighbours have had MULTIPLE contractors/roofers out. ALL of which turned down the job due to the volume of work required, I’ve been told the building was unsafe, neglected and the landlord and estate agent think this is acceptable for me to live in and still expect full rent payment!! Due to this I have had to look for somewhere else to live due to the fear of my safety and slater Hogg don’t give a damn!!! Only advise I have is to avoid at all costs they are so unhelpful and seem to avoid problems hoping the tenants will give up trying to contact them! Would NEVER recommend to anyone!! Will be telling people to avoid them!!
