AVOID THEM. Do not even think of renting under CityRooms
I moved out of the property earlier this month due to the lack of service and empty promises, as well as the poor management handling.
My agent was Alex, he just completely left me in the dark when I needed help to get someone to fix the radiator in the bedroom that was leaking and not working, the leaking pipe in the kitchen, the faulty freezer and also the housemate who broke every rule in the tenancy agreement. He did nothing but sent me a short text to email Giovanni or lodge complain on cityrooms web.
Before moving in, I couldn't view the place due to “Covid” which was completely BS but because I was desperate to find a place fast last year, I figured might as well go for it. (which was the biggest mistake of my life- because I won't know who was currently renting the property at the time).
They pressured me into putting a confirmation deposit down and telling me that the property is currently being “viewed by another and they wanted the place too”.
Because I am an international student with no guarantor, I requested to pay the whole year of my contract just so I could have it out of the way but Alex told me no please pay 6 months first.. which seemed odd at first but I guess I know why now - from the reviews I've read, they will increase the rent afterwards!!
Even though the house looked new and just recently refurbished *bare in mind that the property was situated in a quiet family friendly neighbourhood and two houses away is a pre-school, you wouldn't think that there was anything bad with the place. Right? WRONG.
It all started with one of the housemate was being such a nuisance by keeping the hallway lights on throughout the night, which means, increase in electric bill. She is always on the phone 24/7, talking SO LOUD after 11pm and just wouldn't care about anyone in that house. The final straw that had me and the other housemates move out was when that same housemate who was loud, almost killed everyone in their sleep because she left the gas stove on without opening the window when she cooks at 2am - and the carbon monoxide alarm was hidden. We woke up to terrible gas smell and she refuse to own up. Therefore we had to complain about this to Giovanni, which he didn't do anything about it, instead made things worse and called that housemate to tell her we had lodge a complain about this matter. She did not take it well and started to make our life a living hell since then.
She triggered the fire alarm the following day to light her incense sticks to cover up weed smell and cigarette smell in the house after we told her to smoke outside. She can get very aggressive and would barge into my room and letting herself in whenever she likes which had me questioning my safety. More problems arise which we had to lodge a police report. Due to this I had to seek shelter at my relatives place for a month before I moved out!!
My other housemates and I had lodge countless complains to Giovanni and the manager Jorge regarding problems with the house, the housemate and even gave them the police report and requested if they could relocate her and since the whole neighbourhood had also complained about the noise coming from the property and due to the safety we had in the house.
They did not believe us at first so that when we decided to move out instead - it would mean we will have to break the contract, and risking of not getting our deposit back (which I understood) .
But instead of feeling bad for us. They tried to get more money from me, even though I had paid 6 months in advance (and my next rent is due in April 2021).
There was no sense of remorse when we explained our situation and they even sided with that housemate and refuse to move her out.
So please avoid that property. Not only will cityrooms treat you bad, you'll get a shitty housemate.
