Took a short let for a 5 week break on London. Huge mistake. They advertise short let as a way to stay over hotels or air bnb. Firstly the apartment lacked most basic necessities such as microwave or any cleaning tools or supplies. They supply nothing, we had to purchase pots pans, broom, vacuum bags soap etc. Secondly, constant phone calls and emails from agents wanting to show the property to other future tennants whilst we were there. Very disturbing and annoying. Third, we left the apartment clean but with the towels and sheets to be washed, they charged £558. A 2 bedroom apartment with 1 king and 1 double bed.  Beware of Foxtons short let, they will rip you off. Foxtons have since offered us a small discount on the laundry charge. And a slap in the face by accusing us of being unclean-failing to wash our bedsheets (which in fact we did twice through our tenancy). Here is our experience in summary. Whilst negotiating the short stay with the agent we were assured we would have all of the amenities and necessities for a short stay. This is also advertised on the Foxtons website. We were not told at any time that we would have to allow multiple viewings per week, or field constant emails and calls from agents who were eager to organise these sessions.  When we arrived at the apartment, we were disappointed to find: - No dish cleaning supplies at all. - The cushions on the sofa had a terrible odour so we had to wash the covers. - No rubbish bin  - Only 1 tea towel (a request for any more tea towels was denied) - No microwave (this was especially inconvenient with a 1.5 year old baby) - No clothes airer to hang wet clothes or clothes dryer - No iron or ironing board - No broom, brush or pan - No toilet brush - No toilet paper - The toilet seat was broken and moved aside every time it was used - Very few cooking utensils - Scratched Teflon saucepans - No ice tray - No vacuum cleaner bags (Vacuum had 1 bag which was as hard as concrete and smelled sickening, it must have been in there for at least 12 months unchanged). We informed the agent and she suggested that we should have emptied and retained the bag. It was most likely toxic but goes to show the respect they offer their clients. -1 set of bed linen per bed (supposed to be 2). We had to wash and dry the sheets in 1 day, so that was a trip to the laundromat. - Both bedside light globes were blown (a request for replacement was completely ignored). We emailed (our contact) 3 days after arriving to request some of these items. The only action ever taken was that we received a rubbish bin. Most emails were ignored or took days to be answered and none (bar the rubbish bin) were acted upon. We agreed to a £250 clean organised through Foxtons to ensure they would be satisfied with the clean rather than organise our own clean. Only the bed sheets and pillow cases, 1 tea towel and 4 bath towels and 2 bath mats towels were left for laundry.  How is that not included in a £250 clean, then to charge an additional £258 for laundry, how is that justified? We left the apartment neat and tidy and in the same condition as arrival. The cleaning would not need to have been extensive. We would have let sleeping dogs lie, but to then be charged a further £258 was a step too far.

The SAME thing happened to me! Are they paying people to write good reviews? I have no heard of a single person who has had a decent experience with them. I am still living in a filthy apartment (which they promised would be cleaned by move-in time). I call them every day to follow-up; 5 weeks in, no response and no solution. If anyone is thinking of dealing with Foxtons, I urge them to not put themselves through the miserable experience.

What agent could do to change your mind?

I read a lot about Foxton being a bad estate agent, but I thought maybe thoose people just had bad luck with people that are now fired from the company. God was I wrong, I Have Never In My Life been treated worse... They harass you on the phone, try to push the prices more than what its worth and say cheese things, well that’s NOTHING compared to what Foxton do. Today I meet with a guy called Nick, he was first asking a lot of personal questions and asking about how many flats I\'ve seen. I said maybe 20-30, he started laughing telling my budget of (1700 per month for a studio) IS NOTHING and its such a tight budget what do I except, that I was weird etc etc. I tried to explain that I still thought that 1700£ is a pretty decent amount to spend on a studio and that I’m not use to classic British standards. In the next flat he showed me he mocked me and said \"well come on something must be wrong tell me\". After that I started feeling really uncomfortable. The next flat he was going to show me was in another area so we went in the awful mini cooper car to another part of Kensington (notting hill) to be exact. While in the car another agent called me and told me that the landlord accepted my offer, he guy from Foxton Nick overheard our conversation and was annoyed. I was not sure if my offer was going to be accepted with the other agency so of course I looked at other options. I told him yes my offer got accepted but I would still like to see the last flat. When we arrived he then told me to stay in the car and wait there while he went into another office to get keys for the flat we where going to see... After about one minute after he left the car alarms went off. I tried to get the door open to run away from the terrible loud sound, but the doors were locked. I tried EVERY button in the car to get out but nothing. I suffer from an ear disorder called tinnitus, so I have earplugs whenever I go to a bar and nightclubs/concert is just a no no for me. I got a panic attack in the car when after 3-4 minutes with the alarm sound, my ears hurting like crazy and the guy had not showed up!! I had to take out the fingers from my ears and call med guy and it took him 2 MINUTES until he arrived. I screamed please come back the alarm! And I saw him just walking easy breezy on this way back to the car. I think he did it on purpose because he was angry that he knew I was not going to offer on any of the flats he just shown me because of the other offer. My mom was on the phone while all this happen and heard that the alarm went on for over 6 minutes. When he came back he didn’t even say sorry like he meant it, just well the windows was down so the alarm went off. I was shaking by then off the shock and then I asked him for this manager/boss phone number to report this. I called the manager/boss Amit and he was SO RUDE. He told me this when I asked what they would do now and I quote \"we are not going to do ANYTHING for you, I’m not going to do anything\" and then he hanged up. I do not wish my worst enemies this treatment. I do not wish tinnitus open anyone in this world and to not even say sorry sincerely is just awful.

It had be a strong suggestion from family and friends to use Foxtons. My family had previously dealt with Foxton's Putney and Chelsea offices, both times had been a great success. What agent could do to change your mind?

I rang the South Kensington branch hoping to speak with George. He was unavailable so I left a message and I was assured George would return my call. George was tremendously rude to my mother and with all due respect; that is not good enough and such a shame to have someone let down your team.
